Before:

Righetti looking to start off 2011 with a dangerous but not widely known opponent: Cassidy Freeman is unmanaged, has lost four out of six fights and yet of those that have actually seen Cassidy fight nobody thinks this will be an easy fight. Freeman entered the FCBA in 2010 with a lot of talk based on her Smallville set credibility. Her fight with Erica Durance was legendary, but losses to Anna Torv, Moon Bloodgood and Taylor Cole raised the question whether Cassidy had the skill to use her strong body to actually become a great fighter. Her shining achievement in the FCBA is obviously her KO4 win over Jessica Biel in November – it’s the first time we saw just how much havoc Cassidy’s redhead sturdiness could bring to the FCBA. People called it a ‘shock upset’, but Freeman shrugged it off as ‘went as I expected it to’.

Righetti coming off a revenge win over Sarah Lancaster, confident but aware of Freeman’s potential. ‘I’ve seen Cassidy on Smallville and I wanted to fight her immediately. She really is the kind of girl that automatically gets you into fighting mode. I love her physique – and she’s a redhead, too, so I kinda feel like I have to defend my turf.’ Freeman was called ‘Righetti-esque, but maybe with a naturally stronger body’ by a boxing expert recently – that pretty much caused Freeman getting the offer on her table.

Freeman respectful of Amanda’s status at first, but she gets more aggressive in her interview. ‘I don’t really think Amanda should be called one of or the best fighter in the FCBA, but if it means that when I break her down and knock her out, you’ll say that I broke down the best fighter in the FCBA – sure, that’s okay for me’, she says with a smirk. ‘I actually think Amanda’s body is overrated. I mean, I’m not saying she’s not a great fighter, but I’ve looked at how Bridget Regan was able to punish her body, and of course nobody is immune against welter-power right hands bashing against your skull – so I say: bring it on! This will be a wakeup call, and it won’t be pretty, neither for Amanda nor for her fans, I’m afraid.’

Redheaded big women standing toe to toe, both 5’8’’/5’9’’-ish, looking similar, sturdy and stunning. Cassidy usually fights as a lightweight? You wouldn’t think it possible from how she looks here. Strong bodies in bikinis, muscular legs, ferocious glances, the occasional shove from broad shoulders to broad shoulders – pure welter fun.

Fight:
R1: Righetti behind her jab, trying to figure out Freeman. Cassidy obviously not happy outside, kept off by Amanda’s rangy jabs. Cassidy’s trying to negotiate the distance, get inside. That’s okay with Amanda – the two redheads engage in bashing and slugging in the second minute, on close quarters. This is what Freeman wanted, but it’s Righetti who takes a slight advantage here, outfighting Cassidy for a closely contested first round.

R2: Freeman wants inside, gets what she wants much quicker this time. After a few outside jabs Amanda wants toe-to-toe action, too – this duel is all about the physical. They quickly fight each other into a bruising standstill, welter licks bashing into their bodies. Midway mark: Cassidy banging Amanda’s belly with a left hook, rocking her backwards, bulls aside Amanda’s arm and follows it up with an INCREDIBLE RIGHT straight on her chin. Amanda’s knees bend, losing strength in her legs, and RIGHETTI SITS DOWN, caught fully by Cassidy’s beefy power. Roaring crowd in excitement, as Amanda hunches sagged down onto her knees. She beats the count late! Shabby look on Amanda’s face – she’s surprised and hurt, swaying slightly and her eyes are a little glassy! Cassidy STORMING on, squares away leather and battering woozy Amanda by the ropes. Righetti in trouble – she has no choice but to slug back whatever she has left. Hammering punches out of the defense - Freeman denied her run – Amanda saved by her gutsy brawling. Cute smile and a long look into Amanda’s eyes at the bell – Freeman gets the 10-8 in style.

R3: Corner doesn’t like that grumpy look on Righetti’s face – she’s rocked, not coming back in good shape at all. Cassidy likes what she sees, storms to take command, with fire in her eyes! Freeman atop Righetti! Amanda’s back in the ropes, as Cassidy shoves and stacks her up for more punishment – outslugging sturdy redhead. Brutal stuff by Freeman – her strong fists are battering Amanda’s ribs, her belly, her biceps. Righetti groaning under the shuddering, pulverizing assault. Freeman pastes Amanda thudding punches – she’s actually trying to break her down! This is the rope beatdown we know so well from Amanda inflicted on herself now, as Cassidy stays in command. Brave Amanda takes hard-hitting stuff, but she IS banging back, and she IS staying inside. This is Cassidy’s round, but nearer the bell, Righetti’s instincts get quicker – she’s slugging back sturdy, stays in the pocket, refusing to be dominated by Freeman inside.

R4: Freeman walks Righetti to ropes right away– and Righetti can’t prevent it! Powerful stuff from Cassidy: she can see that Amanda’s legs aren’t right – and she uses it without mercy. Righetti defensive - she can’t trust her legs yet, or is she simply overwhelmed by Cassidy’s wild but controlled assault? – whatever it is, her corner’s worried. Cassidy’s hitting Amanda’s chest and shoulders with repeated thuds. Punched backwards, shuddering Amanda wilting to the side, but answering! Minute in, Amanda finally throwing back uppercuts off the ropes – catching Freeman clean and hard, then tying up. Close action, close round – Cassidy leading charge, but the last minute sees Amanda hitting Cassidy repeatedly. Freeman banging out hard in response, bashing Amanda’s chin and mouth. Cassidy’s on fire – third round in a row

R5: First time since early first-round we see Righetti controlling the action with her jab, clearly trusting her legs more now. Amanda wants to box with Cassidy – Cassidy wants back on close quarters. Freeman held off with angles, unable to counter or keep up with Righetti when she gets more technical. Takes some time for Freeman - bobbing and weaving herself closer, shifting her body – but she gets in and they trade like thunder. Freeman’s sturdy, broad back, her biceps glistering with sweat as she bangs, bulls, bulldozes her redhead into ropes! Sturdy Cassidy moves her around! Shoving and punching! Righetti strongly hitting back, but if Cassidy’s in good position – her strong body won’t wilt, won’t budge, won’t go away! Redheads in toe-to-toe action, broad and strong bodies hitting each other again and again – but it’s CASSIDY PUNISHING AMANDA! She can’t drop her – Righetti’s legs seem to be okay now, standing firmly – but OH THE BODY-PUNCHING! Suffering look on Amanda’s face, she’s not quitting or backing away, but taking wild, heavy beating on her torso. Cassidy targeting Amanda’s ribcage, giving her some of the ugliest body-punching we’ve ever seen her take.

R6: Grinding big-woman battle getting uglier and grittier as the fight progresses into the second half… Cassidy winning four out of five rounds, but visibly shaken, too – heavy-hitting welter fight ain’t fun for either. Righetti retreating from aggressive Cassidy into the ropes, but she lets Freeman walk into sweet uppercuts while gliding backwards with her excellent footwork. Close quarters, like it’s been all night – Freeman pushing, laying siege. Clubbing shots on Righetti’s biceps. By the middle minute, Amanda starts placing counter left and right uppercuts off the block, blocking body shots on her elbows, then picking Cassidy up clean. Freeman's legs all wobbly/bendy for the first time! Stumbling redhead totters backwards, walked into midring by a finally mobile Righetti.

Amanda spreads Cassidy out with the jab, pushing her around, away, backwards, punching her into position, then suddenly starts leaning into CRASHING RIGHT HANDS. All happening within seconds – first punch has Cassidy tottering on the spot, second punch has her drop her hands – Freeman suddenly hazy, then glassy-eyed, then helpless. Hands low, blank expression – HUGE right hits her like an axe between her mouth and chin – dropping big Freeman onto her face! Cassidy not moving, her wet mouth touching the canvas, slightly open, eyes closed – that’s a KO6 Amanda Righetti!

After: Freeman’s ruined, face-down, battered into the canvas – Righetti stumbles away in triumph, relieved that the power of her right hands finally stopped Cassidy’s brute force. Amanda hugging her punished body – we’ve rarely seen her rendered so defensive – but she wanted to engage with Cassidy in body-to-body action, got what she wanted. Hungry, strong Cassidy used her early knockdown to stay the aggressor and lead WAY ahead on the cards – it’s a dangerous, but lucky start for Amanda’s 2011.

Cassidy awake on her stool, head slightly lolling, mumbling a bit – last thing she can or wants to remember is dishing out pain to the body – until a series of championship rights devastated her – domination phase erased by thirty seconds of a cool, patient, efficient Righetti. Realization sets in, tears well up at the missed opportunities, but at the press conference Freeman’s already ferocious, talking about how she exposed Righetti’s weak body, talking about rematches, talking about title fights. She’s only got to start winning these kinds of fights.

Amanda congratulating Freeman later for her great performance: ‘I’m not really surprised by how tough that fight was. Cassidy’s got a very very strong body. This was dangerous. I can’t really tell you why it was so difficult for me to get into my usual pattern. At times, it felt like Cassidy was trying to break me down, you know, processing me, like I usually do with girls. That doesn’t work of course, but let me tell you: everything good you hear about this girl is true. Anybody who can throw punches like that is title material at welter.’
