Before: Katrina Law new to the division, three fights under her belt, but she’s getting good reviews – people want to see more of her. Unknown celebrity status is hampering her – she’s mostly known for being completely naked in the cable show Spartacus: Blood and Sand, but guest-starred on Chuck and Legend of the Seeker – Katrina not bothered by that at all. ‘Especially at welter, the big movie stars don’t play around – they’re afraid of messing with real women. This is not the division for skinny girls – so who cares we don’t have stars on the walk of fame?’

Law lost her debut against tough Brit Michelle Ryan, knocked out after a closely contested battle, but went on to surprisingly KO Moon Bloodgood, a very good new fighter in the division with title shot experience and a high reputation. She met with Jodi Lyn O’Keefe next, and came back from a multi-round slump to knock the tough brunette out. As far as K-Law’s asked, Lancaster’s not a real threat. ‘She’s a very limited fighter in all regards. She’s strong, but she boxes stupid. I’ll watch out for her right hand, then break her down bit by bit until she’s a whimpering wreck. I’ll show the Bonzo management I’ve got much greater potential than Nadia Bjorlin – and then we’ll see what happens.’

Lancaster obviously furious at being called ring-stupid – who wouldn’t? – makes a point: ‘Any time a girl mentions another opponent she wants to beat after beating the girl she’s about to face in the ring, she’s getting her ass whooped. That’s a rule – you don’t dream about Nadia Bjorlin, when Sarah Lancaster’s right is closing in on your chin. I don’t know, fellas, but I’d say it’s Katrina who’s being stupid here. Oh, and could we please stop that nonsense with the nickname K-Law? It’s ridiculous. Unless the K Law means that an ugly fat girl ends up crying and weeping on her back after being stomped and battered by a real fighter – yeah, that sounds like a good K-Law.’

Ouch – these two have looked for trouble and found each other a perfect target. More nasty stuff exchanged pre-fight – girls pretty much insulting their looks in the b###hiest ways they can think of – where’s the professionalism, gals?
Law probably a slight favourite, based on heart shown in the O’Keefe fight and skill not usually shown by debut big-punch welters. Lancaster is universally regarded a tough girl to predict fights of – negative record, but huge scalps in Heigl and Righetti – everybody expects a thunderous battle and an early finish.

Fight:
R1: Law using a hefty, strong jab to outwork Sarah – quick hands, occasional combinations. Law quicker on her legs, faster with her hands: Sarah only able to block shots, defend herself but she’s outpaced, takes a few good hits. Later in the round, Sarah answering back – but it’s Katrina leading the way - takes the round on her surprising mobility.

R2: Ring generalship from Law – she’s standing strong and firm, moving quickly, effortlessly – hooking Sarah with punches and goes body-hunting. Cool look from Law, dominating the more experienced Sarah throughout most of the round. Lancaster relegated to counter punching – not a lot she can against Law’s quick jabs. SNEAKY RIGHT, LANCASTER! Good counter punch – catching Katrina fine on her chin. She’s all LOOSE AND WOBBLY: surprised, sputtering backwards into corner, Law gets pounded left and right, Sarah’s strong fists denting her, bashing at will at that tight, strong body. Nothing back from Law – slightly hurt look - but she’s saved by the bell. Smile, Sarah – about time for her to show Katrina this ain’t a picknick.

R3: Sarah hopping to mop up stunned Law – but it’s way too early for that. Law slugging back strong, stiffly resisting, refusing to budge under Lancaster’s wild punches. Anything could happen – hatred-filled battle heating up to match the pre-fight b###h talk. They’re tossing it all at each other, hoping to score – doesn’t seem like any of them is doing what they’re supposed to. Good action round – both getting hit, both dishing out pain. Very late: stunning left turns the momentum to Katrina. Lancaster all hurt, outfought by the bell. Late effort gives Law the round.

R4: Slightly queasy on her legs, Lancaster lets Katrina take command early – which Law is only eager to do. But Sarah’s not as hurt as she looks – in fact she’s baiting her in, luring her forward. Katrina feels strong, senses momentum, but walks into Sarah’s sneaky right like a gnat into the light. BAM ON THE CHIN! Swivel to the side, Katrina, stepping around on the spot. Lancaster cooly following up, brawling Katrina backwards into the ropes. BASHING Law all over her tanned body. Katrina’s hurt, but she shows her heart, staying combative, hitting back – Lancaster can’t execute her plan. Law’s brawling her way out of the corner, frees herself late.

R5: Law storming out of the gates like she’s starving to beat up Sarah – thunderous beat-down applied! Sarah worked over from her head to her ribs – Law just bashing away in a fury and frenzy. LANCASTER DOWN! Array of punches has Sarah collapsing onto her knees – puffing hard, head bowed, holding her tender belly – but UP! Law goes back to work – Sarah a groggy wreck creeping along the ropes in a more and more helpless state. Late in the round: she’s still there! Amazing stamina from Lancaster, she’s pretty much getting her ass kicked all over the ring – but defending herself to prevent the worst. Law can’t get drop her! Katrina settles into a slower rhythm, dominating until the bell, but shaking her arms after all that punching fury, frankly astonished at Lancaster’s condition. Wide 10-8 K-Law in dominating fashion.

R6: Sarah comes out, trying to punch for respect – stamina shown here has crowd roaring in approval, Sarah’s not a classic crowd-pleaser, but she’s well-deserving of the applause here. Katrina doesn’t give a damn – letting her hands go, quick and strong fists battering Sarah into a more compliant state. Second minute sees Law start to land heavy blows in combination – sweet shots ringing Sarah up. Law’s fast hands throw snappy combinations with welter power and lightweight quickness. But a heroic final minute for Lancaster: She denies a finishing run with gutsy counter-punches, as she goes to brawl toe to toe. Lancaster in a pitiful condition – body drained, targeted all night, face all puffed up, looking b###hy at being dominated, but then look at Law: she’s under fire, too, leading the charge now, but getting hit a lot.

R7: Law not letting Sarah go – back to the front line. Poor Sarah stalked, stumbling backwards along the ropes as Katrina athletically punishes her. Strong shoulders rotating, arms bashing out in high pace – she’s not getting tired and she wins her third straight round. Sarah’s defensive – there’s nothing she can do when she’s so outworked and outpaced by a Katrina on fire. Dominant round all the way – Lancaster a little groggy, a little slow-footed as K-Law batters her for points. Methodical dominance, but Sarah’s not in immediate danger.

R8: Lancaster’s been getting hammered for a few rounds now – knows she’s not going to win this with a decision as her legs grow tired and her body’s punished. But there’s always psychology – so Sarah puts on a more discouraged face than necessary, slides slowly along the ropes – clearly inviting Katrina in for the kill. Law knows Sarah can be mean, but she’s been hitting that girl with the heaviest blows she can hit a girl with all night – it’s obvious that Sarah must be filled with an increasing amount of quit.

And while that IS true – Lancaster’s proud body isn’t what it was at the beginning – there’s more left. Katrina stalks her, throwing out hefty combinations as Sarah’s shying away. All so easy – Law starting to bounce - it’s starting to get more fun. Time for the knockout? Law thinks it is. Law getting more reckless, giddily storming on to finish that hated brunette off. Lancaster taking her chance – crazy hail-mary right hand: Katrina walks right into it. Poor Law – you can see the shock in her eyes when the fist slams into her head – eyes roll back, violent head jerk, legs all loose and spasming, knees give way – strong, proud body collapsing down – WHAT A SAVAGE PUNCH SIMPLY ANNIHILATING LAW!

LAW IS ON HER BACK, groaning in pain, mumbling in protest, quivering lips. She’s not really awake, but half-groggily and instinctively reaching for the ropes to get up. She’s on her knees at ten, bravely trying to rise, but she’s a ruined beauty, glassy-eyed, obviously confused – there’s NO WAY the ref would let her back into it if she made it up– out of nowhere, KO8 Sarah Lancaster!

After: Lancaster all giddy, almost dancing around the ring as she tries to handle the flows of energy and adrenaline still in her body, jubilant and triumphant as poor Katrina sags backwards into the ropes as her body shuts down for good. Katrina’s eyes shut – she’s crumpling before her corner can help her. ‘Ha ha’, Katrina’s pain is Sarah’s fun – she jumps onto the brunette’s strong, thick body trying to straddle her. Katrina awake, slaps back by instinct, but her punches are weak – she’s all but battered and unable to get the muscular Lancaster off her. Stretching out, looking to humiliate her, Lancaster stars deep into Law’s dim eyes – but then she’s pulled off her victim. It takes a while to get her off Katrina’s sunken body completely, but eventually Law’s free, carried tenderly to her corner. She’s all right, but bitter, frustrated, coming to on her stool – eyes moist with disappointment and humiliation.

‘Patience is what counts’, Sarah tells the press. ‘You know, Katrina’s not totally worthless because she’s strong and thick – no, make that fat - but she made the mistake of thinking she had broken me down. Nobody friggin’ breaks down Sarah Lancaster!’

Tough night for Law – newcomer obviously dominating the fight despite her lack of experience – hitting harder, boxing better - but ends up the victim of her own confidence and Sarah’s monster punch. She’s getting a good dose of angriness by her handlers – sometimes a UD10 must be enough to aim for. Lancaster now saying every lost round was an act to make Katrina feel safe - her bruised ribs and battered face tell the story a little different. Sarah builds up her image as a very dangerous dark horse – half lucky-punch/half-perfect manoeuvre enough to take it this time. Law wants to challenge stablemate Nadia Bjorlin next – she was hoping for more of a confidence-boosting tune-up than this.
