BEFORE:
“Pumped up and excited,” Luisa beams from the stage, the thought of fighting for her very first title opportunity against Naomi Scott at the end of the month making her feel all jittery inside. “I can’t believe it’s been almost five years since I started boxing. They say good things come to those who wait, and I feel like I’ve waited long enough for this shot.”

When reporters ask her about her fight tonight, Luisana, ever the sweet-heart of the VIX locker room, smiles equally wide. “Adria’s a phenomenal actress. It was amazing to meet and speak to her backstage just now. She’s also a fellow neighbour in terms of where we both come from, so I’m happy to be one of the first girls to welcome her to the ring - we definitely need a lot more South American representation in the league.”

Across the table, Adria is also all-smiles at the praise and hospitable welcome, the 28-year-old Puerto Rican actress replying in turn: “That’s high praise coming from Luisa, whom I’ve also admired over the past few years. She’s proven herself to be much more than a pretty face in the ring, and I can proudly say she’s one of the reasons why I decided to lace up and try this boxing thing out for myself. Regardless of who wins tonight, I’m happy to have faced off against the current Bantamweight challenger!”

The two women shake hands and share an embrace on stage, a far cry from some of the other face-offs we’ve seen tonight. Luisana has always been nothing short of respectful, though some would say that lack of hunger and drive has contributed to her inability to climb the competitive rankings of the Bantamweight division. Adria, on the other hand, looks spectacular for her age, as she walks down to the ring in a lilac bra top and underwear, donning black gloves against Luisana’s red ensemble. Referee calls this middle match to action, signaling for the opening bell, and HERE WE GO with ten rounds of Bantamweight boxing!

ROUND 1:
Luisa focused, keeps her head down and arms up as she initiates the first attack, hammering shots into Adria’s arms and body to test and soften her defences up. Adria’s only had one fight thus far in the FCBA but won that one in a decisive manner, putting Pia Miller away in five rounds back in June of a BBU PPV. Some pundits even remarking in that post-fight that Adria moved more like a Lightweight fighter due to her bigger bulk and powerful shots. Here though, she faces off against a five-year veteran of the ring and current number one contender for the Bantamweight belt, and suffice it to say, has a harder time fending off Luisana’s assault. Luisana does away with pleasantries as she lands another stiff shot straight to the mouth, another low cross hitting the brunette on her abs as she finds multiple holes in Adria’s guard. Finally, the bell rings and Adria’s only managed to stick a couple of hands into Luisana’s face in reply, though it’s not nearly enough to turn the tide of the opening round.

ROUND 2:
Adria finds her groove, however, in the second round, scaring Luisana off with powered straight hands sent screaming into the blonde’s frame from afar, the Vixen letting out a yelp as another cross-hand slams hard into her raised forearms, barely defecting the blow that was intended to knock her off her feet. Adria gains confidence as she marches forward in turn, bashing more tight punches into the guard, lunging at Luisa’s sides with wind-up blows to her tummy and chest. Suddenly, the Vixen looks more like the one getting out-classed as she struggles to deal with her foe’s power. Lopilato opts to play it safe for the remainder of the round, staying at a distance and firing off more jab flurries to Adria’s head whenever she tries to get in close. Not the best round for the challenger, who cedes this round wide to the newbie.

ROUND 3:
Back we go as Luisa scores a surprise overhand to the top of Adria’s head - the brunette didn’t see that one coming, as the punch throws her head back to open this round, and it’s Lopilato’s turn to charge in! Luisana surprises the crowd with her newfound aggression, peppering Adria’s body and arms with shot after shot as she brays the brunette backwards. Arjona however looks like she’s taking the abuse with some measure of calm and level-headedness, wincing as another glove is buried into her tummy but keeps her center of gravity grounded as she walks herself backwards. Luisana always having this issue with her lack of knockout power, and she faces the same problem of not being able to tackle a girl who’s slightly bigger than herself, no matter how hard she huffs and puffs and blows the door down. Adria’s had enough abuse in the third minute, letting a hook rip towards the blonde’s head, which scares Luisa off, and the final seconds sees a mutual dance as both ladies exchange jabs from afar whilst catching their breaths.

ROUND 4:
Adria grunting as her body continues to take abuse, Luisana finding some obsession at breaking down her foe’s abs instead of targeting the more vulnerable chin. She’s scoring points for herself, no doubt, but has to be extra careful about not getting blasted across the face from Arjona’s return hooks, each exchange punctuated by a series of near-misses and narrow weaves of her head and torso backwards to avoid the stronger woman’s movements. Adria, however, refuses to get backed into the ropes, feints a left hook to the side, which sends Luisa bobbing left, before she SLAMS a hard right into the Vixen’s chin, almost taking her head off right there! OUCH!! Luisa sees stars as she gets pushed back from that unfortunate exchange, shaking her head in a daze but then quickly covers up from more chasing combos sent into her face, Adria taking the fight back to the blonde as she chases her down to end the round.

ROUND 5:
See-saw of a fight if we’ve ever seen one! Luisa held her ground as Adria charged at her in the opening minute - a surprising development indeed from the usually cautious fighter. Adria scores with a left hand drilled to the tummy, but her right follow-up hook only grazes the blonde’s arms, as Luisa suddenly counters with an uppercut sent up into the chin instead! Wild melee as girls exchange stiffer swipes across the face, but Lopilato proves her own strength as she lands ANOTHER snap uppercut to the chin, which sends Adriana stumbling backwards in shock! THIS MIGHT BE IT! Luisana roars inwards, burying another one-two to the body before she RIPS a right hook across the brunette’s chin, sending her reeling - BUT NO - Adria stumbled into the ropes, holding on for dear life! Lopilato shouting in rage at this point, pummeling more shots into the big girl’s sides and body but Adria manages to clinch up with her opponent, rotating them both about to wind the round down, together with her stamina. Bell rings and Luisa looks like a woman denied a diamond ring, scowling for the first time as she marches back to her corner, cursing in her native tongue. Adria lives to fight another round, but just barely!

ROUND 6:
It’s like we’re seeing a different Luisana Lopilato once she’s gotten her very first title opportunity. She’s making more and more daring risks as she charges forth with less regard for her own safety. Adria’s probably about to go down but the Puerto Rican model and actress has surprised the pundits once before already. Adria again on the receiving end of a torrent of punches in the first minute, calmly moving from side to side as she keeps her arms locked over her head, whilst Luisana peppers and hounds her arms with multiple one-two combos. They don’t seem just enough to wobble her, however, and the Vixen probably needs a breather round or two in order to finish this fight off in a decisive manner. However, Adria clearly has other plans, suddenly whipping Luisa’s head to the side with a well-timed hook to the cheek, which draws more shock and a louder gasp from her lips. Lopilato immediately tries to fire back, further enraged, but her swing is off-target as Adria ducks low and NAILS the poor girl on the chin in turn - GOOD LORD - LOPILATO GETS FLOORED, hitting the ground on her back as she gets absolutely CLOTHESLINED on the spot!! UGHHH!! The rest of the stadium is up in arms at the sight of the Bantamweight contender laid out on her back, arms and legs spread-eagled and her chest rising and falling in laboured breaths! It’s a KNOCKDOWN from the newcomer in the sixth!

Adria herded to her corner by the ref, looking shocked at the outcome as well. Meanwhile, Luisana slowly rises off her back, then onto her knees, wheezing loudly as she uses the ropes to pull herself up. Referee hits the count of 9 and she’s finally cleared the canvas, but there’s trouble in paradise indeed as he signals for the remaining two minutes to continue!

Bad news for Lopilato as she spends the remainder of the round thrown backwards continuously, Adria coming in steady and calm, pounding away at her wilting defences, more than the occasional shot sent bashing into the nostrils, which throw Lopilato into the ropes and further disarray. VIX corner shouting their advice and encouragement from the apron but it doesn’t seem like it’s enough or that their prized girl is even paying attention to their warnings, Luisana groaning as another hard glove’s buried into her tummy, before a hook is sent CLEAN across her face, further making her twist along the ropes, and the referee has to JUMP IN TO SAVE HER!! GOOD GOD - IT’S A SHOCKING TKO6 WIN FOR THE NEWCOMER! Luisana melts into the referee’s arms, mouth hanging open as she’s forced to give up the fight!

Official Decision: Adria Arjona defeats Luisana Lopilato via TKO6!

AFTER:
VIX personnel couldn’t have anticipated a worse result tonight as their Bantamweight challenger just got TKO-ed by a complete newcomer by comparison! OUCH! Steve Boyd wrangling his head by the ring apron, and the rest of Luisana’s fight team and colleagues throw their hands up in accumulated frustration - Luisa’s future in doubt now with this defeat occurring on the eve of what might be the biggest night of her career - if she can’t take the heat from Arjona, what makes her think she can go toe-to-toe with someone like Naomi Scot??

Luisana slowly recovers back in her corner, on the verge of tears as she’s confronted by some hard truths, still comforted by her team, and later on, Adria herself, who comes over to console her. The crowds, equally sympathetic, resort to chanting and cheering her name on for a good minute or two, showing their support for her upcoming fight.

Regardless of what happened tonight, Luisa’s already signed her name on the dotted line, and no doubt about it - somewhere backstage, Naomi Scott is shaking her head, smirking at the thought that *this* woman is going to be the next challenger for the title.
