Intro:
A big night for both women as Karen looks to build off her win in the first set of fights in the Diamond Boxing tournament, her opponent up and comer Danielle Herrington suffered a defeat in her first fight, we are here in the Intercontinental Arena in Miami.

In the first round of fights Karen stepped into the ring with Bo Krsmanovic, beating the former BBU welterweight champion in the fifth round with a knockout, Danielle lost her bout against the current BBU welterweight champion Damaris Lewis, getting knocked out in six rounds, she lost her undefeated streak there but looked good in a big fight.

Heading into this fight both women sat down in front of a camera at the FCBA Network set, giving their thoughts on the fight with Karen the first to sit in front of the seat, wearing a black Marvel T-shirt and blue jeans as she looks relaxed.

"So I can't believe how well that first fight went, Bo is a great fighter and she pushed me, I had to be at my best in that fight, coming out on top has me buzzing going forwards in this tournament" Karen starts off as she brushes a loose red hair behind her right ear.

She then says "now I get you Danielle, I watched your fight with Damaris and while you lost, boy were you impressive, I am looking forwards to sharing a ring with you" that respectful side of Gillan truly on show.

"Before my fans worry I am in this to win it, this tournament is too big to be too nice, so I will be coming hard when we step into the ring" winking as she stands up, cheekily giving the peace symbol with her hand then heads off.

On the other hand Danielle heads onto the seat wearing a red dress that matches her lipstick, she sits on her stool still looking cheery even after her last fight in this tournament, waving to the camera with a wink.

"Yeah that last fight didn't go the way I wanted haha, Damaris is good, I'll admit that but I know when I get more experience I will beat you, don't forget about me" pointing at the camera as she speaks.

"Now I have you Karen, while I like your movies this isn't going to be a fight where someone will say cut to save you, I am going to show the world why I am on my way to the top, I was chosen for a reason to enter this tournament, it is up to me to prove why" the stunning model says before she stands up, blowing a kiss to the camera before she goes.

Fight night, first out comes Karen with her coach Ana Beatriz Barros beside her, she looks relaxed as she jogs down the aisle, her supporters in full voice as the Marvel star is always popular wherever she goes.

She is wearing a red sports bra with gold trim, matching trunks and shoes, gold gloves, as her hair is tied back into a ponytail, she climbs through the ropes into the ring, bowing to each side to show her respect to those fans, then settling into her corner to begin her warm up.

Now out comes Danielle bouncing on her toes at the top of the aisle, her coach Jeri Ryan standing behind her as they walk down the aisle, Danielle wearing a shiny blue robe with a gold sash holding it together at the front, waving to her fans as she looks cool.

Getting the robe taken off by her coach, Herrington is wearing her favourite colours, a blue sports bra with yellow trim, matching trunks and shoes, yellow gloves to match her colourful personality, her hair is braided, she climbs into the ring with a more serious look as she begins going through punching drills to get ready for the fight.

Brought to the ring center by the referee, the fighters bounce on their toes as they listen to the referee, stone cold looks on their faces now as the bubbly lasses are now in their fight mode, all about the win for them and nothing else.

Touching their gloves into their opponent's respectfully, they turn back to their corners, the crowd cheering as the bell rings soon enough, starting 10 rounds of welterweight action.

Round 1:
Nodding to each other as they step out their corners, they get down to business throwing probing punches, Danielle looking the quicker as she is the first to step up with a double jab, moving back out before Karen can land a left cross.

It's Danielle who is pushing the pace more, Karen looks to be trying to get a read on the younger fighter, stabbing jabs into the cheeks of Danielle when she steps in closer, up on her toes as she stays towards the ring center.

A nice one-two punch drills Karen to her cheek, Danielle moves out the way of a left cross, then landing a straight into the face of the red head as she shows more of that crisp punching when she can get on the move.

As it gets into the home stretch of the round, Karen looks more comfortable to open up now as she lands a double jab of her own, ducking a right cross as she gets into the space of Herrington to work on the inside, the fighters working in tight up till the bell rings.

Jogging to their corners, not the most exciting round ever but a good round for Danielle, Karen though is looking relaxed as she sits on her stool, nodding as she talks to Ana about how to disrupt the younger opponent.

Round 2:
Not showing as much respect to Danielle, Karen is stepping in more with her jab, looking to press the younger woman as she sees she can't let Danielle get on the move, both landing stinging punches as they fight around the ring.

Karen showing her experience as she cuts off the ring more, ducking punches from Danielle as she steps inside with punches drilling into the abs of the model to make her grunt out, taking a few punches across the top of her head to make her retreat.

To the credit of young Danielle, she isn't getting too flustered, she pings in some good one-two punches to the face of Karen, adapting herself as the round goes on to get out the way of her opponent.

The final four five seconds comes with Karen landing her best punch of the fight so far, feinting with a left to the chest as she steps to Danielle's left to get a right hook around her guard to her jaw, a left smacks across the face of her opponent.

Soon the round comes to an end with Danielle grinning as she returns to her corner, knowing she didn't have her best round ever, Jeri telling her what she wants to see from her, Danielle looking calm as she shows her coolness that has made her look good so far in her young career.

Round 3:
Both women now are warmed up to the task at hand, stiff jabs being exchanged as they circle, looking for their opening to strike, both cancel the other out in the early going as their eyes are locked behind their gloves.

Karen tries to pump the right to the body again, Danielle slams a left/right cross combo to the top of Gillan's head, making Karen retreat back as Danielle now shows some aggression, landing a double jab into the mouth of the red head.

Stepping in more herself to push back Karen, Danielle is stretching her elbows with a mixture of jabs with hooks, giving Karen a new look to try to need to work out, though the actress is landing some good punches as she has her own hand speed for Herrington to worry about.

Dipping under a jab, Danielle slams two rights to the abs of her opponent, then lands an overhand left across the cheek of Karen, pressing back the older fighter onto the ropes as she opens up with a flurry of punches, Karen blocks some but most slam into her face to knock back her head.

At the bell it is another good round for Danielle, she isn't being overawed taking on these more experienced fighters, Jeri giving her praise but pointing out not to get lax because she has had some success.

Round 4:
Again they are evenly matched up as they have a similar style, trading more combos now to start as they move on their toes, upper bodies moving as they look mirror images, Danielle arguably looks the faster.

Moving back as Karen tries to move in closer, Danielle lands some crisp double jabs into the face of Karen, keeping her more on the outside as she gets on the move, trying to stay away from those ropes or corners herself.

The switch comes as Danielle slips a straight, landing two uppercuts to the body followed by an overhand left to the side of the actresses head, driving back Gillan now to the outside part of the ring, where Karen doesn't loom so comfortable herself.

Karen trying to force Danielle to trade with her, missing more then she lands as she throws two to three punches, Danielle forcing her back with straight punches into her face, causing some more marks to appear on the flawless face of Gillan.

Soon the round comes to an end with Danielle whooping to the sky as she jogs to her corner, confidence flowing throw her as Karen taps her legs as she sits down, a bit of a nervous energy it seems showing in the Fate's corner.

Round 5:
Coming back out her corner looking on top of things, Danielle quick to strike as she lands a one-two punch right away into the face of Karen, who looks caught out cold by that, Karen driven back to the outside of the ring by another hard straight.

Karen covering up as she looks to be shelling up, Danielle hunting down the older woman around the outside of the ring, showing that hand speed by quickly switching targets, digging in some nice body punches to open up Karen up top, then landing a few punches square into her face.

Not able to really land much more then a few jabs, Karen is finding herself being swarmed by Danielle, who is looking a real prospect on this performance, getting clinched by Gillan to stop her assault.

Once broken apart Karen is able to get off the ropes, the momentum is firmly with Herrington as she keeps on the front foot, showing she can be aggressive and not just work on the move, striking through the mitts of Gillan to send sweat off her head.

It is simply a shutout for Danielle, who is looking in great shape as she sits on her stool with less wear on her face, Karen getting her face worked on as Ana is giving her a rallying speech, trying to get Karen to come out the shell she seems to be going into.

Round 6:
Looking more determined as she comes out her corner, Karen is meeting Danielle more head on in the opening moments, both women landing crisp punches through the others mitts as they move around the ring, Danielle on the front foot after landing a clean one-two combo, missing with a left cross though as Karen dips under to rifle in two uppercuts to the body.

An overhand left smacks Herrington across her jaw, Karen starts to turn up the heat on the model with better changing of the levels, starting with punches to the body in combos before switching up top to give Danielle something new to worry about.

Herrington does manage to slow down Gillan with a double jab to her face, getting back on her back as her confident aura seems a little diminished, throwing less volume of punches as she is thinking more about her strikes.

Which allows the Scottish fighter to dodge more as is stepping on the gas pedal, banging in more punches to the abs of Danielle then changing up to uppercuts when Herrington tries to slug her way back into contention this round.

Back onto her heels goes Danielle as she is struggling to embrace the heat from the red head, who has her pinned on the ropes in the final seconds of the round, working the body with an exquisite body drill straight out the gym that has Danielle groaning out.

At the bell Karen looks almost a new fighter as she tenseness looks gone, Ana and her make it perfect team it seems as they go through what is next on the game plan, enjoying talking as the mood has definitely brightened up.

Across the ring in the GBS corner, Danielle is getting told firmly off Jeri to not let Karen build up a head of steam, this is her fight to lose as they talk about getting things back in their favour, Danielle nodding as she gets her gumshield in to say she understands.

Round 7:
The crowd is roaring as the fighters trade some stiff flurries of punches at midrange, moving around before they step in to strike, knowing it is critical they get control of things as they see their opponent as being too dangerous to let get momentum at this stage.

It's Danielle who looks to have won the exchanges by leaning out the way of a right cross, slamming in a left across the reddened cheek of her opponent, then a straight into her face, stepping forwards with more thudding punches working back the Scottish superstar.

Who clinches up with Karen as her back touches the ropes, the crowd chanting for both fighters as they grind bodies in the clinch, trying to muscle each other around, competitive spirits at a high as the referee needs to break them apart.

Getting hyped up doesn't seem a good thing for Danielle though as she misses with a right hook that was easy to read, Karen leans out the way before pounding a double jab square into the face, turning the tables on Herrington as she forces her backwards with a four punch straight combos that knock back the head of Danielle.

Both fighting hard near the ropes as Danielle looks to push back Karen, again she misses though as she is starting to load up too much on her punches, Karen is slamming in more punches in reply as she is literally beating the younger woman to the punch.

An uppercut late on sends Danielle into a corner, where she takes a hard left hook across her chin that sends sweat flying off out the ring, Karen lands a one-two combo just before the round comes to an end as Danielle blinks rapidly to clear her head.

Jeri needing to work on getting Danielle patched up as that last barrage seems to have shaken up the American, Karen watching closely from her stool as Ana tries to reduce the swelling around her cheeks, not saying a word as she knows her fighter is in the zone.

Round 8:
The fight has certainly shifted around, Karen exudes confidence as she steps after Danielle, who is trying to set up a big right with her jab, falling short when she tries to step in with a looping right hook, taking an uppercut flush to her chin that makes her stumble back two steps!

On comes Gillan as she hammers in two cross punches to the head of her opponent, Danielle tries to clinch up but a left forearm across her chest easily pushes her back, A RIGHT HOOK SLAMS ACROSS HER CHIN TO SEND DANIELLE CRASHING DOWN TO HER BACK IN A HEAP!

The crowd stand to chant Karen's name as she raises her left arm in the air while walking to the neutral corner, 1...2...3...4... Danielle groans as she bends her right leg to plant her foot on the canvas, 5...6...7... Other then that though she is staring at the lights on her back, 8...9...10 not budging as she is counted out!

Winner Karen Gillan KO Round 8

After:
What a great fight! Karen blows a kiss with both gloves to the crowd as she is beaming, this an important win for her as she goes two wins and no losses in the tournament, beating a very game youngster in the process.

As Jeri has Danielle sitting up holding her jaw, Danielle looks a understandably upset with herself for not being able to win when she had Karen seemingly firmly under wraps through the middle part of the round, Jeri telling her "you were good but you need to stop getting lax" the defeated fighter nodding looking resigned as she can't argue that point.

Over comes Karen once she sees Danielle on her feet with help from Jeri, giving Danielle a big hug as the former combatants can now share a moment, Karen praising Danielle's skills, telling her "keep your chin up OK, you have a bright future here as long as you believe in yourself and listen to this legend" pointing at Jeri, who grins at the compliment.

Giving Karen a tighter hug back as she thanks the actress for the kind words, after the split apart Danielle says "know I want a rematch when I get more experience" Karen smiling as she nods in response, the crowd whistling and moving that idea.

Sitting on their stools getting patched up, both deserve a few moments rest and getting worked on, they are smiling even in the GBS corner, knowing tonight isn't the end of the world losing to an elite fighter like Karen has become this past year.

Heading back to the center of the ring, Danielle applauds Karen as she gets her right hand raised by the referee to make the result official, they fist bump in one last act of respect before Danielle gives Karen the spotlight alone, stepping out the ring to head to the back.

Even though tonight was another harsh lesson for Danielle, she still hasn't looked overawed with this level of competition, if she can work out a few kinks in her arsenal, then boy is this a real talent in the making in the FCBA.

All eyes for now though are on Karen as she bows to each side of the ring, smiling as the crowd chants "there's only one.. Karen Gillan!" At her, thanking them for their support as she truly loves the FCBA fans wherever she fights.

Leaving the ring herself with Ana beside her, it is hard not to see Karen now as one of the firm favourites of this tournament, she has had a few issues but overcame them in strong showings, can she be the one to break out the pack in this tournament to show why the Fate's stable signed her!
