pt1

BEFORE: "Angie E's one of my favourite fighters to watch," Amanda confides in prefight, "so when Moon blew her doors off, it was a real eye opener. Moon fought for this fight - you have to respect that. People who think I can clown my way through against her aren't seeing the same fighter I am. As far as I'm concerned, Moon Bloodgood's hungry and strong...that's a bad combination!" Bloodgood calm at the podium despite the spotlight - showing her experience. "Amanda's a badass, no question," Moon allows, "but I've taken a crowbar to girls just to get to her, so I'm not exactly a cupcake either. I haven't been in the FCBA long, but I've been around the fighting block a time or three...Amanda's not going to surprise or unnerve me. Bonzo girls are a little smug - they work out hard and field a great beach football team, and they think they can steamroll everyone in the boxing ring as a result. I'm here to show that that's just not so!" Amanda in royal blue sport cut bra and swimsuit bottoms; white gloves; hair in long low ponytail. Moon in purple cotton bra and panties; black gloves; black hair tangly/loose.

During R1: Shutout Amanda. Nothing fancy from the champ: wide stance; STIFF jab; rapid steppin' to either side, turning Moon midring. Bloodgood organized defensively, blocking shots on a high guard, but unable to pull the trigger on counters. Pace is brisk - typical Righetti testing another girl's conditioning right from the start. Down the stretch, Amanda stoops to jab tummy, then ROARS in over Moon's left shoulder with a driving right hand: BLOODGOOD DOWN! Savage blast tosses Moon's head aside, sends her to her back all legs a-tingle. Bloodgood rickety, but fights off the knockout, swaying in the wind at bell. Amanda chipper: batting mitts together as she looks Bloodgood over before trotting back to corner.

R2: similar look from Amanda - wide stance/jackhammer jab keeping Moon turning/covered up. Waistline's available on Bloodgood - Righetti going there with jabs, or straight right hands off the jab - always making sure to jab up into Moon's guard thereafter, preventing counters. Midway through, Righetti tests Moon's legs with another crashing right cross: slamming clout to left side of Moon's jaw swivels her head to crowd squeals of alarm. Bloodgood's curvy legs hold her up, but she's stricken: Amanda gets a free look at the waistline - leaning forward with head low, deploying both hands with a heavy, lapping action to paunch. Bell: Amanda chipper - colour high: she bats mitts, looks things over, trots back to her corner all a-glow. Moon? Cranky.

R3: Amanda cracks Moon the right cross early, buckling Bloodgood's legs: Moon hurt at the open, covering up peek-a-boo, stumbling in pursuit of her tormentress. Righetti springing around - big, broad shouldered body surprisingly mobile as she circles to one side or the other. Amanda's hands relaxed - about chin high, elbows in: she's very compact putting her punches together on Moon. Hooks cuff in behind Moon's right elbow CHUP! CHUP! Left uppercut/short right hands attempt to beat apart the guard. Wide right roundhouses whack the waistline. Give Moon credit - she's sponging up some major wallop here - taking it pretty well, though still unable to mount much offence.

R4: First minute - Amanda circling, pounding jabs, softening up her target. Moon gambles - rushing Righetti, tackling her to ropes: Moon pushes off, comes up slugging to body ROBUSTO! Big, booming shots sounding out, momentarily folding Amanda forward, then she starts answering off the ropes. Crowd giddy as big women open up like flyweights - Amanda attempting to clip Moon uppercuts as Bloodgood's leaning forward: Moon plowing home to midsection via both hands. Good stuff from Moon for a while...until she eats a crushing left uppercut and goes all wobbly-butt! Bloodgood staggering away, forming defensive V front: deep breath Amanda as she pushes up off ropes to walk her foe down. Righetti spends final moments bombarding Moon's brawny arms - beating shoulders/biceps numb as Moon hunkers down to soak.

R5: Amanda SO crisp tonight - she sells a jab amidships, only to bend into that crashing right to jaw, jerking Moon a quarter turn to her right! Bloodgood rocked AGAIN, but proving sturdy: she forms doughty V-front (elbows collected beneath her jugs; hands cupping her face). Amanda eyes narrowed, starting to sense something special in Moon's ruggedness: Righetti sets herself the task of reducing Moon in situ. Big, brawny, flat-knuckle whacks administered in sickening repetition - Amanda bludgeoning Moon's arms, intentionally trying to render Bloodgood helpless. Moon grimacing, actually coming forward as Amanda's beating her, only to eat the odd little right uppercut between the mitts as Righetti pitches off the back (right) leg. Bell: Moon lumping up, arms hanging limp at her sides...Righetti looking things over with a frown, wondering what it's going to take to get this girls off her feet again.

Bloodgood/Righetti conc.

R6: Amanda goes all-in: Moon suffers a terrible bell to bell beating. Rigs leaning in, getting those driving right hands through to Moon's jaw...Bloodgood staggering into ropes, eyes staring, thighs trembling. Righetti following up huge right crosses by stepping in close and muscling in combinations: left uppercuts/short right choppers/blunt left hooks pound Moon along the ropes. Bloodgood bleeding from her mouth, eyes swelling - crowd roars whenever she absorbs a huge, clean clout - so crowd's roaring non-stop. Beating Moon's body, Righetti in heartless - dipping torso-left, slinging in left hooks from her hip to dig in DEEP behind Moon's right elbow. Withering, savage stuff - Bloodgood a mess, going to crossed-arms against her body when Righetti's scoring too thickly down there, exposing head-and-shoulders to fresh abuse. Bell: Amanda panting, blinking in frank astonishment - she hammers Moon for 10-8 without the knockdown, but can't get Bloodgood to go!

R7: Amanda circling to her right - jabbing down into Moon's tummy en-route...then turning over that blazing right hand to Bloodgood's leftside jaw. Vicious crack bends Moon's knees, but doesn't drop her...Bloodgood moving forward again, right hand palm-out against her left cheek; left across her body. Righetti's output dropping as she shows more leg - she's whacking palm-down rights and lefts in single shots against Moon's hips/flanks, occasionally hooking Bloodgood's rack while pivoting-left. Bell: Amanda staring at canvas, shaking out her arms; Moon a staggering wreck, but obviously still functional.

R8: Moon trades her first jabs with Righetti - punching Amanda's mouth left hands out of the crossed arm stance. Amanda attempts to overwhelm Moon with a muscular combination midring: left uppercuts/right hands/left hooks swing away as Moon executes bob-and-roll on the spot. Amanda finishes up...MOON ANSWERS! Booming left hook out of the crouch catches Righetti stepping out and DOWN GOES AMANDA! Crashing blast rocks all of the welterweight division as Amanda's momentarily helpless on her back...champ pushes up off her buns, blinking and shaking her head for 8! ON COMES MOON! Moon plowing into Amanda, bearing her deep to ropes...then swinging away to gut via those brawny, lapping lefts and rights. Amanda grunting/grimacing, hunkering down: she worms her left shoulder into Moon's rack, starts rubbin' and sluggin' at close quarters. Moon pushing on Amanda left cheek on left cheek - Moon's right hand in on Amanda's left shoulder to help stack her upright...then Bloodgood's bludgeoning away - cramming in the leather. Amanda outworked, but alert: she brings elbows in, concentrates on blocking shots downstairs, just nipping back the odd counter uppercut whenever Moon's open.

R9: Amanda circles left around her jab...she's bouncing that left hand off Moon's face, busting her up terrible. Bloodgood in crossed arm, turning on the spot, bobbing her torso than answering back hooks: fat left hands take Amanda in her jugs, then her belly, punching her ropeside. Battle in the trenches - big women hunkering down to push left shoulders into sweating breasts: short-shrugging, digging stuff as neither girl elects to clinch. Moon good on top - strong: she's bodying up to press on Amanda - keeping her pinned down - often tucking righty into her body when leaning on her. Amanda firing back - leaning into Moon with a shoulder, then leaning back to clip her wicked left hooks off the right foot - trying to duplicate that hook-off-the-ropes that once doomed Eva Larue. Fight takes on a slopping aspect - girls just leaning in/hauling home the leather, bashing away toe-to-toe at bell.

R10: Moon shows guile - baiting Righetti with a flicking tummy-jab, then BRACING Amanda a right hand to jaw: Righetti's turn to get her legs tested! Amanda baby-stepping to her right, but staying compact: elbows in as she dips side to side - fetching Moon nice, tasty swats and chops. Righetti circling to her right, pivoting around planted left foot: she's starting to tattoo Moon midring, turning the brunette, touching her up. Righetti's pace undiminished: swatting right/left/right to Moon's waist; chippy little right uppercut; left shoulder thrown hard into Moon's chest; an extra right uppercut, ticketed for chin-tip: Moon's just a spectator at this point. Righetti keeps it on her - turning her, touching her tidy: champ just dousing Moon's fire as Bloodgood's exhausted late. Bell: Amanda hugging Moon in congratulation...not too many of Righetti's opponents go the distance when she's hitting like she did tonight. UD10 wide, Amanda Righetti.

After: Solid defence for Righetti leaves Moon battered beyond recognition...yet Bloodgood still alert and chatty in the aftermath. "She's one tough old boot!" Amanda grins in postfight - lifting her hands and taking a moment to applaud towards Moon's corner. "Seriously - I was dropping BOMBS on this woman - Bjorlin-busters; Bell-busters; Theron-begones - you name it, I was hitting her with it. She just got used to the power very quickly - after that first knockdown, I just couldn't shock her system again. Fortunately, I don't even consider myself a knockout puncher - that's not my game. We knew if we were getting clean looks at her, that my work rate would bury her...but JEEZ! Moon Bloodgood's definitely got my respect after tonight!"
