BEFORE: Winstead coming in small—how she feel about Adrianne’s size coming in? “I look forward to the challenge,” grins the upbeat brunette. “The bigger they are, the harder they fall—and all that jazz. Adrienne’s still fresh out of bootcamp—I’m a battle hardened veteran compared to her. She’s a big, strapping young girl, but I think I’ll have a trick or two to show her when we meet.”

Palicki stung in her debut by former champ Shannon Elizabeth: big blonde looking to redeem herself against fellow prospect MEW. “I had visions of knocking Shannon out and being ranked right after my debut,” Adrianne shrugs sheepishly at the mic. “Didn’t happen that way. I know I have to work my way up, and I think Winstead’s the place to start. I can punch—so I want durable girls in there so I can get some rounds. Mary’s shown she can take a licking, and she’ll need to, if she hopes to compete with me. Oh, and Mary? It’s Adri-ANNE, ok? Beyotch.”

Adrianne tanned, shoulder-length blonde hair; white bikini; white gloves. MEW also lightly browned—brunette hair loose; white gloves; yellow bikini.

During R1: Adrianne’s dukes collected under chin—back straight, standing tall: she stepping-in gangly one-twos straight off her chest, searching for Mary’s face. Winstead scoot-stepping to her right, dukes at temples, palms out: she’s nimble, darting in with a pesky jab and looking to chop the right hand to Adrianne’s chin, then scooting off to either side. Palicki turning, eyes narrowed; Mary’s hustling in, out and around, eyes sparkling. Midway through—girls just dancing the dance: quick MEW right hand hacks in on chin and SITS ADRIANNE DOWN!  Yelp of glee, Mary—she jogs to neutral corner, punching her mitts together and shouting “BLONDE GIRL DOWN! BLONDE GIRL DOWN!” Adrianne in shock, rolling up off her hip and swaying at the ropes: ref wipes her gloves, waves Mary on in. Winstead hopping-to—hands up in that Muay Thau look: quick one-two penetrates Adrianne’s tightly grouped mitts, punching Palicki’s face. Adrianne grimacing, stooping forward behind her mitts: Mary swipes a left hand across Palicki’s ribs underneath; tucks a right hand in thick above her left hip—Mary’s elbow out o side as she jams it in. Winstead reloads, tucking the right hand up underneath, digging at blonde breadbasket: Adrianne groans, legs giving a shimmy. Mary lowers her shoulder, props Adrianne upright, then POURS through the middle straight, jackhammering, criss-cross leftsd and rights, Adrianne’s head jerking back as Mary penetrates the guard: blonde loosens, sagging into ropes, hands dropping head, head banging violently back, beginning to loll and THE~REF STEPS IN! good Lord—TKO1 Mary Elizabeth Winstead!

After: Palicki swooning—groggily begging the ref not to stop it, then breaking down into devastated tears on the man’s shoulder. Winstead proves a gulper once again—pouncing on a too-methodical Adrianne early and sweeping the young blonde out of the ring before Palicki knew what hit her. Mary exultant—jumping up and down in corner, hugging her  team-mates—it’s a huge win for an up and coming brunette. “Nobody was more surprised when she took a seat than ME!” Mary admits. “I was punching short and crisp—making her move her feet and scoring well—all of a sudden she was hurt. Well—you guys know me: I see hurt and I go IN, baby! I’m all over you if you loosen. Couple of shots to the body to soften her up (throws air punches underneath for emphasis), then I just ram-fed her the leather! First round whack—I’m LOVING that!”
