Vanessa returns to flyweight ranks and takes a page from the Demi Moore playbook: find the biggest name retired blonde you can, coax her back to the ring with the lure of glory regained, then slam the door as heartlessly and comprehensively as you can, right in the woman’s face. For fans of Ladd, this was a tough, tough outting to watch.

Cheryl showed stubbornness and heart at least early, but lack of rounds and true fight conditioning caught up to the little blonde legend in a hurry. Marcil just went at her girl with little regard for Ladd’s pedigree, driving Cheryl to the ropes and outworking her minute after brutalizing minute. Ladd’s fragile crowsfeet busted up and leaked blood after the third. In the fourth, Vanessa’s pumping, chugging body work produced the fight’s first exhausted knockdown, and it was all downhill from there. A gallant Cheryl Ladd, too proud for her own good, sat covered up and wilting in the ropes as Vanessa continued to gnaw at her with a nonstop clubbing barrage of lefts and rights, And Marcil wasn‘t just content to bludgeon her foe, Vanessa routinely went to Cheryl’s trunks to draw  repeated warnings, helped herself to kidney bas the blonde doubled over and threw vicious, uncalled-for elbows at the blonde’s aching shoulders and biceps. In the end, with Marcil just standing up straight and slugging her way past Ladd’s drooping guard. POUNDING away on Cheryl’s busted up face--the ref stepped in to halt the painful contest.
