BOXING AFTER DARK

BEFORE: "People TOTALLY rushed to judgement on Zoe," Nicole explains in prefight. "She was supposed to be the next sleek thing - the best blonde-assassin since Hu...but look what happened: in with a ho-hum Analynne McCord and promptly exposed. I deserve the push, not Zoe: this fight is WAY overdue." Saldana surprisingly agreeable in rebuttal. "You know what?" Zoe says at the mic, "Niki's right: we should have fought right off the bat. I should have established type-superiority before moving against the blondes, so now I have a chance to correct that oversight. Now I've got a chance to touch up Nicole's pretty eyes and bruise her cheekbones. I'll pack her tummy with punches and I'll embarrass her legs. If this is what she wants, so be it: I'm hungry and Scherzinger's looking tasty!" Frisky yellow bikini top/sturdy black sport bottoms for Zoe; small black work out mitts; high Star Trek ponytail. R1: Zoe nimble early, stitching the left hand tummy/tits/face with straight, tapping delivery - then sliding off to her left. Midway through, Zoe shakes Nicole up via tricky right hand while hopping on left foot: superman punch sends Scherzinger reeling to ropes. Final minute a Saldana showcase: she darts in and out - coming in from one side, scoring, then escaping at an angle, circling back to repeat. Nichole scowling, butt in ropes, trying to cover up: she's nibbled and vexed for points as Zoe touches up her rival.

R2,3,4: Dazzling stuff from Saldana - classy poke-and-go as Scherzinger circles the wagons midring. Zoe leggy, springy - darting in, out and around - never available for receipts. Saldana pinpricking her jab to Niki's tummy, then face - stiff pokes discouraging Scherzinger as Saldana's too quick. Saldana tapping away straight right/lefts in combination - stepping in while peppering her girl, then angling out. Poor Niki a confused beauty - turning on the spot, trying to block, trying to answer back: Zoe's up-tempo stitching just too much. Scherzinger as embarrassed and humiliated as she is hurt: going back to her corner after each round with a frustrated frown...Zoe's beating her at Niki's own game.

R5: Scherzinger leaning onto back (right) foot while swatting hooks, finally stroking Zoe along Saldana's jaw in response to Zoe incursions. Saldana still initiating however - omnipresent jabs sticking at tummy and breast, setting up rude straight rights and knocking lefts to face. Niki often pasted upright and out of her stance: she's rallying, regrouping, but never able to impose will. More points for Zoe as she orbits her foe, slashes in and out, slowly picking Niki apart through 5.

R6: Signs of collapse in Nicole: Zoe's starting to hurt her. Niki stumbling after gattling gun right/lefts punch her face. Niki reeling to ropes after body jab/hook combo. Niki staring as Zoe feints her, then turns into a gorgeous right cross clean to chin. Scherzinger's legs hold up through first minute - even as she careening away from strafing power shots - but Zoe in hot pursuit won't let Niki breathe. Second minute a vicious, slashing onslaught along ropes - Zoe stepping-with wilting Niki as Scherzinger slides to her right. Zoe staying in punching range - eyes narrowed, teeth bared, body tense as she ramps up the volume with a non-stop jackhammering array of straight rights and lefts. Small mitt punches skid off Niki's shoulders or scalp, or knock flush against eyes/chin/mouth: she's a frazzled beauty, staring into punches, growing sluggish. Ferocious pasting shreds Niki's defences - by the end, Scherzinger's just getting waxed crisp rights and lefts: ref jumps in to cradle battered Pussy Cat to ropes. TKO6 - Zoe Saldana.

After: Zoe snarling in aftermath: her blood's up, body still trembling with anger and Niki-hate. Roaring comeback after the disappointment of McCord: Saldana really flashing her talent as she completely undresses a very slick vixen in Nicole Scherzinger. "I wanted her hurt, and I achieved that," Saldana says in postfight, eyes blazing. "No mercy for Nicole - that was our motto in camp: when she started giving in, that only made me work harder. That's the beating she needed: I don't want to hear anymore crap about how she should be in my spot. I'm better: I'll take the fight to the blondes from here - Niki can just chill and think about the beach circuit. IF they'll have her!"
