Before: Jackson wows the press during weigh-in , standing relaxed on the scale then suddenly flexing her stomach into a hard six pack like some kind of transformer. Bettors favour Jackson, liking the shape she’s in, and the fact she’s never lost to Smith. During R1: Janet sets a brisk tempo in this feeling out round. Jackson wheels and deals, touching Courtney to the face and tummy with backhanded jab, bicycling around the blonde, and evading the come-backs. Shutout Jackson as she gets a good look, Smith unhurt.

R2: Courtney changes up tactics on Janet, challenging that wonderful body inside. The girls lean in on one another with straight legs, snatching intermittently at one another’s midsections with sharp one-twos. Smith pouts on a clinic, banging hard to Janet’s body, then neatly picking up Jackson’s punches on her elbows and arms to pitch a shutout on the inside. To add injury to insult, in the final minute, Court swats at Janet’s ear with the left hook, then rips it down in behind Jackson’s elbow to put the black girl down, gurgling in pain. Vicious body shot puts a sweet smile of satisfaction on Courtney’s face.

R3: Courtney continues to wage effective war inside, contrary to all expectations. Jackson banging back more accurately this round, but still just laying in with Smith and letting the blonde punch first. Jackson’s legs seem wobbly at the bell as Smith peels away, all smiles again.

R4: Jackson lights up the arena with a dazzling series of left hooks, hammering Courtney into a defensive shell, and it’s all Jackson the rest of the way as she bops in and out on Smith, using her legs to get position. Shutout Jackson.

R5: Jackson continues to up tempo, refusing the bait inside., Midway through the round, Janet actually freezes Courtney with the Ali shuffle, then lounges in to score with a running right hand to the temple. Smith badly hurt, reaches to clinch, and Jackson whacks away, her hands at her side as she whips punches into the blonde to the bell.

R6: Courtney deeply discouraged, and badly hurt, staggers out and nearly takes a knee as Jackson meets her with a wide right to the ribs. Janet tunes up on Courtney with vicious combinations punching. Midway through the round, with Court on the ropes, Janet catches her with a bewildering four punch set, capping off the drive with a chopping right to the side of the head, and Smith lolls on the ropes, dazed. Jackson steps in to her finishing flurry, and this one is stopped as Smith gets machine gunned into submission. TKO Janet Jackson in 6.

After: Courtney had her moments, but in the end, just a little too much speed as Jackson records yet another win over the tough blonde.
