Intro:
Next up we have two cougars clashing, Stana Katic made her successful debut last month, setting her sights on the former lightweight champion Angie Harmon right away, now here we are in the MGM Grand ready for them to test each others mettle out.

As stated Stana made her debut last month against Cindy Sampson, in a good competitive fight between the two rookies Stana put down her opponent for the count in the fifth round, after the fight Stana posed with Angie at ringside as Angie watched the fight, a playful mood that night that surely won't follow to tonight.

Angie for her part has been taking fights where she can, though she hasn't won since 2007 in the ring, when you level of competition is the likes of Adrianne Palicki and Brooklyn Decker, you can be forgiven for finding it a hard task to win during that time.

Both women spoke to FCBA Network reporter Layla Anna-Lee in their locker rooms before the fight, first up with Angie as she sees the tough Texan hitting her coaches punch pads to warm up, Angie stops for a moment as she smiles at Layla and waves her to come over.

"It feels great to be back in the ring, each time a fight I have ends I wonder is that it for me? I guess it seems us detective show girls have a little beef when you hear that Cindy (Sampson) could be fighting Gabrielle (Union) while you have me and Stana fighting tonight after our face off, so maybe there is life in this old dog huh" tapping Anna-Lee on her left arm with her right glove, both chuckling as Angie looks in a good mood.

When asked about her feels on her opponent, Angie admits "I like her but I know she has an ulterior motive for this fight, see last person I fought was Theron, Stana has made it known she wants a crack at the GOAT, so my guess is she wants to knock me out by at least the third round like Charlize did to send a message to her, problem for Stana is I am not some push over, she comes at me with that attitude and I will enjoy knocking her ass out in the center of that ring" Anna-Lee nodding as she sees the demeanor of Angie get more serious.

In the Katic locker room, Stana is stretching with her coach telling her to not give Angie any room tonight, seeing Anna-Lee she nods to her with a smile, they shake hands before getting into the quick interview for the camera.

Asked how she feels taking on someone as experienced as Angie, Stana admits "I have some nerves, Cindy was a tough first opponent, she pushed me hard from the opening bell and it felt great to stop her, Angie is the polar opposite of course and it will be tricky to outbox her but fact is this isn't her prime, I am ready to knock her out and move forwards" Layla nodding along as Stana's coach smiles.

The subject then turns to Stana discussing her future plans in the build up; namely Charlize Theron, the Canadian chuckles as she replies "I guess till I get my crack at her I will be asked about her, yes I want to fight her, as I have said why it hasn't happened before is anyone's guess, but when it comes I will show her the respect she deserves till that opening bell rings, then I will smash her" raising her right fist with a grin as Layla winks at her.

Fighting time, out first comes Stana with her coach behind her, she jogs down the aisle with an all business look on her face, banging her red gloves together as she reaches the ring steps on her side of the ring, nodding to herself as if to say she has this.

Once in the ring Stana starts to go through punching drills, wearing a red sports bra, red trunks with her surname in gold on the waist band, red shoes with gold trim, her hair is tied into a ponytail as she looks ready for this step up in competition.

Here comes Angie to a loud cheer, the popular Texan smiling as she blows a few kisses to the crowd, then begins her jog down the aisle with her coach, a serious look on her face as this fight is very important for her, this might be her best chance in a while to get a win on the board.

Climbing through the ropes wearing a white sports bra, matching trunks with her surname in red on her waistband, white shoes and gloves, while her hair is tied into a ponytail too, she taps her cheeks with her gloves before shadow boxing to get ready.

Brought to the center of the ring, they square up staring into their opponent's eyes, the friendly expression's from a month ago gone as now it's time for battle, they respectfully touch gloves with their opponent, jogging to their corners as they crowd are excited, the referee signals for the bell to begin 10 rounds of lightweight action.

Round 1:
Circling around the center of the ring, they exchange jabs to get a read on their opponent, Stana is the first to land a meaningful punch by feinting with her jab then throws a straight into the abs of her opponent, then steps in with a left hook into the body.

Angie taking a step back as Stana pushing the pace, Angie looking a little rusty as she misses or clips the cheeks of Stana, taking punches banging into the face of the Texan to push her to the outside of the ring.

After a minute Angie is struck on the ropes as Stana bangs away to the body with hooks, needing to shove Stana back, Angie lands a double jab to snap back the head of the rookie, moving away from the ropes as she starts to open up more now, catching Stana as she comes in with punches aimed at her head.

Both women letting their hands go more as the round moves towards the end, Stana slips under a jab to bang in two hooks to the body, Angie trying to match her intensity in close but is bullied back onto the ropes by Katic, who looks on a mission to end this early judging by her power punching.

At the bell Angie bangs her gloves together in frustration, hating being pushed around so easily, she sits on her stool taking a drink as her coach tells her to get her jab working if she is to win this, Stana on the other hand is simply told to keep the pressure on Angie.

Round 2:
Using her jab as told, Angie is starting to pepper the face of her opponent, who is being a little too keen to come forwards, a one-two lands square into the face of Stana after the opening thirty seconds to knock her back two steps as Harmon now comes forwards.

Controlling the middle of the ring herself, Angie looks a little more assured as she presses Stana back behind her guard around the ring, Stana still landing single punches out her guard, the greater work rate now is coming from Harmon as she shows flashes of what got her a title in the past with precision punches into the abs of Stana.

At the half way point of the round Stana times her counter attack by deflecting a straight to step in with a right to the chest of her older opponent, Stana pressing back Angie from the center of the ring after landing an overhand left to her cheek to turn her head.

Before Angie gets pressed onto the ropes she clinches with Stana, both women trying to press the other back in this test of strength, with the referee stepping in to break them apart, once apart Angie lands a double jab into the face of Stana to push her backwards.

It's a much better round for Angie as the bell rings, she jogs back to her corner looking pumped for this fight, Stana meanwhile nods with a stern look as she walks to her corner, her coach telling her to feel her way in before going all guns blazing.

Round 3:
Exchanging stiff jabs to start, both are snapping their opponent's head back, just missing with their big fights as both women step back out of range then come at their opponent again, an evenly fought opening thirty seconds as the crowd whistle and cheer both women.

Throwing a straight that misses Stana's head, Angie takes an uppercut to the body that makes her groan out, getting pressed into a neutral corner as Stana starts to throw in short hooks along with uppercuts as she promised to try to beat the GOAT Charlize's time of beating Harmon, she is clinched by the American though to stop the assault.

Broken up by the referee as they enter the second minute of the round, Stana trying again to get right into the face of Angie, walks into a clubbing right on her jaw that turns her head, A LEFT UPPERCUT THEN SLAMS ONTO HER CHIN TO SEND HER TO HER BACKSIDE!

Wow Angie showing her vintage skills there! She looks pleased as she jogs to a neutral corner, 1...2...3.. Stana shakes her head as if to say that didn't hurt, 4...5... Getting to her right knee, 6...7...8... Stana pushes to her feet bouncing on her toes, banging her gloves together before lifting them up to show she is OK.

Fight continues with Angie trying to push forwards but being met with staunch resistance off Stana, who doesn't look badly hurt from the knockdown, both landing some stiff punches across faces up until the bell rings, Angie making a big statement this round with the knockdown.

Round 4:
Angie comes out looking more confident as she tries to push back Stana, who stands her ground to give a fiery exchange at the start of the round, heads getting knocked back by stiff punches, Stana dipping down to land a right into the solar plexus of Harmon to push her back.

Two left cross punches catch Stana around her eye to make her back off, Angie landing a one-two as she starts to push back the younger woman, making Stana retreat back as she steps on the front foot, looking good as she has her supporters cheering her on.

At the half way point Stana deflects a jab to pound in a left to the ribs, then an uppercut snaps back the head of Angie, who finds herself being banged back towards the ropes, an overhand left and right sends sweat off the brow of Angie.

Harmon is starting to ship more punches through her guard, trying to fight back but Angie is being beaten now by Stana, making her need to clinch up as they head into the final moments of the round, broken up by the referee as Angie gets away from the ropes.

At the bell Angie shakes her head as she returns to her corner, Stana staying standing as she wants more of Angie, the coaches wiping their fighters down as the fans are buzzing for this fight.

Round 5:
Nearly running across the ring to get at Angie, Stana it seems felt her opponent weakening in the last round, Angie trying to jab back Stana but missing as Stana moves her upper body out the way before landing an overhand left on the chin of the former Law and Order star to turn her head, AN RIGHT HOOK THEN SENDS ANGIE ONTO HER BACK!

Stana raising her arms in the air as she stares down at Angie, then heads to the neutral corner as the count begins 1...2...3...4.. Angie turns to her front, grabbing for the ropes, 5...6.. Getting to her knees with hands on the middle ropes, 7...8.. Getting back to her feet, fists up as she nods she can keep going.

The referee waves them back together, with Stana quick to knock aside a jab to land one of her own to the chin of Angie, pushing her back as a right hook makes Harmon stumble back towards the ropes, ON COMES STANA AS SHE BANGS IN HOOKS, ANGIE'S HEAD GETTING KNOCKED AROUND TILL THE TOWEL COMES IN FROM HARMON'S CORNER, REFEREE MOVES IN TO STOP THE FIGHT!

Winner Stana Katic TKO Round 5

After:
Stana raises her arms as Angie stumbles off the ropes, going to a knee as it is clear Angie wasn't far off being knocked down again, Angie's coach rushing into the ring to check over their fighter, Stana helping Angie up to show her class.

Back onto her stool Angie gets to be checked over as she admits her head is buzzing, Stana patting her on the back with her right as she hopes Angie will be OK, jogging back to her own corner to allow the ringside doctor and coach to check over the beaten fighter.

The winner meanwhile gets a hug from her coach, both smiling as Stana is glad to have gotten that second win in her career, admitting "that knockdown woke me up, sorry for just charging at her, I'll do better next time around" the coach tapping Stana on her back smiling with a nod.

Both women getting cleaned up, once they are ready they come to the center of the ring, they shake hands with a friendly smile, the result is announced as Stana gets her right hand raised by the referee, taking in the cheers as Angie smiles as she nods.

They embrace before Angie steps out the ring, she waves to the fans as she still looks a little shaky, hoping this isn't her last fight as she heads to the back, her coach telling her they expect her at the gym on Monday, Angie nodding with a big grin that she will be.

While the winner poses with fists raised for the cameras, asking them "whose the next best detective who wants a crack at me?" Winking as her coach smiles warmly, enjoying seeing her so cocksure in herself, Stana wanting more action already as she clearly enjoys this sport.

Climbing out of the ring, Stana high fives some people at ringside, then heads up the ramp, she is still rough around the edges but is showing glimpses already of what she can do in this cougar division, can she make her dreams come true though?
