Before: Jewel the bigger puncher, but pundits like Spears’ ‘tude and moves in the ring. Jewel still working on her chops, doesn’t need someone as tricky and elusive as Spears at this point.

Jewel wears teal half T-shirt, tied at the middle, teal bikini bottoms against Britney in similar look, red.

During: R1-3, Spears puts on a show as jewel follows her around the ring. Britney using that cocky, arms down, torso movement to set up her whipping punches, finds Jewel an easy target. Kilcher has her moments, keeping her guard high, and chopping with short punches—but she can’t sustain any offense as Spears slides around the ring. In  the third, Jewel crouches as Britney unleashes a blurring flurry, hitting Jewel with uppercuts, overhands and hooks with her fist, and the sides of her hands, forcing Jewel to her hands and knees at the bell.

R4-7: Britney continues to embarrass Jewel, mixing her bewildering movements with the occasional power shot to put the hurt on the blonde, Kilcher  continues to move forward—she wants to fight—but she’s just too easy to hit. Britney often flashes a million watt smile as she lays into Jewel’s soft tummy or cracks her face with an effortless punch. After six, Britney’s banked every round and looks to be on auto pilot.

R8: Jewel knows she’s getting waxed, but shows a fighter’s heart this round. She bodies up on Britney, pushing and bullying the smaller girl to the corner, then begins a systematic pounding. All Jewel as she stays controlled, but uses her muscle, shoving Britney off balance, laying in with her shoulders, pounding the soft midsection of Spears. By the midway point, Spears’ legs look dead, and her eyes are glassy as Jewel continues pounding the beef. At the bell, Spears’ eyes fill with tears as Jewel gives her an Arctic look before turning away. Britney’s corner immediately go to work on her confidence as much as her body  during the break.

R9: Jewel Kilcher gets annihilated this round. Spears evidently a vindictive sort, comes out lashing her punches, making Kilcher pay for every punch she threw last round. There are vicious, winding blows, thrown uppercut and hook style from very low and Jewel’s pretty face is the recipient of 90% of them. Kilcher looks windblown battered around the ring as she stumbles forward, then reels backward in an attempt to stem the tide. Trapped on the ropes, Jewel is defenseless as Britney coldly beats her with flush lefts and rights, finally dropping Kilcher to her backside near her corner. The bells sounds to save Jewel, and she is physically carried to her corner. Moments later, her trainer throws in the towel, refusing to allow Jewel to continue. Kilcher sags on her stool unable to protest.

After: Savage late round beating from Britney gives Jewel enough soul-searching material for her next 5 books. It was one woman reaching out and breaking the other’s will to compete with pure ferocity. Spears doing it with  athleticism probably doesn’t have the technique to hand with more experienced fighters, but against plodders—she is deadly.
