Before: HISC powerplay puts Garner in with Elizabeth, slaps Halle Berry in the face and puts the lightweight division on notice that Jennifer is officially in title contention, Jenny the kind of orthodox boxer that Elizabeth has chowed down on in the past, prompting Shannon to refer to the Alias star as “Cat Bell Lite”. Lots of people on the bandwagon however—Jenny G’s pretty much even money to take Elizabeth’s title at most books.

During R1: Shannon brazen, left hand low, right at her chest as she hops towards her foe—Jenny with the right up at her cheek, shooting left jabs, bobbing her head as she stabs out the right cross, pivoting sharply to her left at center ring. Elizabeth dipping and whipping her loose left hand, sweeping in over the top with arcing rights—lots of ring covered but not much flush contact in a tactical first.

R2: Garner working behind her jab, thumps an early right cross off bulging Elizabeth breast—champ recoiling slightly, then coming on strong with more of the swishing haymaker stuff, Cat and mouse as Garner crouches forward, moving her head, shooting straight punches to Shannon’s face and jugs—Elizabeth trying to get her body twist in behind vicious side to side strokes, Late in the round, Elizabeth straightens up into a lashing hook along the jawline, stroking Garner off balance and JENNY”S HURT! Garner’s face twisted in pain, hands up at her temples as she falters to the ropes with shellacking leverage. Garner wobbling badly for cover—first taste of Shannon’s power always an eye corner.

R3: Shut out Jennifer Garner! Jenny comes back from some tough licks and gets after the champ with some classy, angular boxing. Hard jabs and shooting right crosses, Jenny always bobbing and moving her head after the punches—Shannon can’t draw the bead. Garner showing good strength as well—the few times the girls crowd in close, it’s Jenny shoving Shannon back out, nailing her on the chin with a machine-like hook for good measure. At the bell, Elizabeth with a blatant late right hand—girls are separated as tempers flare.

R4: Garner jabbing in close, then going to the Elizabeth midriff with blockbuster two gun punching—Shannon frozen early as her abs take a pounding in the opening moments. Elizabeth starting to lick her left hand nicely, bending to the right to pull the haymaker across Jennifer’s face—both girls starting to trade dangerous leather in heartstopping exchanges along the ropes. Midway though, Garner gets Elizabeth going backward with a pushy right in the forehead, then a straight left chaser and more serious straight right on the mouth—Shannon clattering to the corner wide eyed as Jenny stomps in. Elizabeth bends, sweeps a shattering right to the lower left side, stands up into a cranking hook—BIG head swivel Garner and JENNY GOES DOWN! It’s OVER! KO4 Shannon Elizabeth as Jennifer walks into the goodnight kiss.

After: Garner puddling straight down then reclining on her back—she’s many minutes coming around and finally, gloriously paraded by a walk of shame by a beaming and STILL dominant lightweight champ Shannon Elizabeth. Shannon drawing it out, lecturing Jennifer at every turnbuckle, wav ing to the fans—Garner getting a long potent dose of Elizabeth at her very worst. “LINE.THEM.UP!” Shouts Shannon in postfight, “When are you all going to get it? It doesn’t matter who you put in here, they are going to get knocked the hell OUT!” Garner hollow eyed in defeat—she has basically established control in this bout when it all went so horribly wrong.
