Results: Lookout!; Story: Caspian & The Dollhouse

BEFORE:
Lauren Mayberry smiling a little meekly at first as she enters the press hall, giving the reporters a little twinkle of fingers before taking her seat at the long table.

"I wasn't as active this year....so I'm still looking for my first win of 2020. Hopefully tonight is the night! Victoria has 5 inches on me...that is kinda scary, I wont lie. But luckily for me, she's not as physically imposing as someone like Hanratty. I spent a lot of time working with my team on getting me ready to fight someone as "long" as her...I just gotta execute tonight. *turns ot Victoria* Ready to get executed in there?" *smirk*

Looks like Mayberry's confidence has returned after all, and the string of recent losses to Bassinger, Kendrick and Hanratty. Of course, Victoria Justice has been handpicked tonight by her management team as a comeback foe, something the 27-year-old American actress doesn’t relish either, as Justice responds:

“Sounds like someone needs a wake-up call, huh? Those are empty words outta Lauren’s mouth - notice that everything she’s spouted these past few months against her past opponents, she hasn’t managed to back up with actions. In the end, so many girls have shut her down inside the ring. I guess it’s my turn tonight.”

Ladies meet at the podium and it's true what they say about that height discrepancy: Justice towers over the smaller Scot as Lauren does her best to not look too intimidated by the five-inch difference between them.

Fight night rolls round and here come both fighters through the arena curtains: Justice flashes a confident smile, then waves to her fans in an emerald-green sports bra and long black tights. Next up is Mayberry, whom we haven't seen in her Dollhouse colours for quite a while, her champagne pink sports bra and black tights fitting snug around her petite figure.

Referee calls the action to order, reciting the rules in the middle of the ring as the two women finally touch gloves, Lauren's pink to Justice's red. HERE we go with ten rounds of Flyweight action!

ROUND 1:
Contrast of styles immediately obvious: Lauren bouncing about, full of energy, but also mindful about the distance between the two fighters, as she skids out of the way every time Justice closes to impose her reach advantage. Five inches taller means one hell of a jabbing arm as Victoria tries to beeline towards the smaller woman and start the abuse to her head with rapid jabs. Lauren, however, keeps herself safe and steadfast, ducking and weaving around the attacks, then hitting back where and when she can, blasting a right hand to the chest just as she slipped around one of Justice's haymakers, then delivering another counter-blow to the lips, continuing to frustrate Victoria till the end of the very first round.

ROUND 2:
Victoria however a quick study - this girl was the recent Flyweight challenger to Diana Korkunova's BBU Flyweight crown, of course - as she comes forth with more poise and calm, still jabbing at Lauren's head but taking more care not to scream inwards with anything fancy. Mayberry, once fully prepared for her opponent's all-out approach, now struggles to adapt to Victoria's herding strategy as the taller woman advances on her inch by inch with jab combos to the head and arms. Lauren finds it difficult to avoid the multitude of jabs, as a result is heard grunting, getting pushed back whenever Justice employs a complex combo to stick some return leather to her face. Mayberry still scores intermittently in return, but it's quite clear that she took more punishment this round when the three minutes are up...

ROUND 3:
Mayberry picks the action up another notch, crossing the bounds multiple times as she sinks more her punches into Justice's guard with finesse and agility. Let's go, Mayberry! is the chant of the night as the Dollhouse fans in the stadium want the best for their girl after her recent disappointments. Justice holds onto her salt too, however, unfazed by the lack of homeground advantage as she takes repeated shots to her tummy and arms but then dishes back with that extended long jabbing arm, sending punches back into the Scottish singer's face at the risk of taking damage of her own. Result is multiple clashes in the middle of the ring throughout, and mutual grunts from both fighters and no clear-cut winner at the end of this round, though it’s clear both girls are putting in their best effort to come out ahead.

ROUND 4:
Mayberry really has picked up her pace in this fight, showing both intelligence and aggression with these constant hit-and-run tactics. She troubles Justice early on again as circles and spits out punches, constantly preempting her opponent’s attacks with jabs of her own to Justice’s face and body, then swerving out of the way of any return hooks or power crosses with ease. Victoria sweats hard as she tries to pin her foe down, but all she can do is hunker down with both her arms taking most of the abuse as she strives to protect her face, her open body taking a beating though as Lauren switches to any target available. Just as Mayberry’s about to declare victory and shove Justice into the ropes, however, the little Doll steps in a little too fast and too soon - BLAMM!! - gets HIT across the face with a well-packed right hook, and DOWN MAYBERRY GOES!! Holy-- that sh*t came outta nowhere, didn’t it?! Justice showing her own poise and patience, ROCKIN’ the Doll with a textbook right hand all of a sudden, which sent Mayberry wobbling to the side for a moment before crashing down on her side! A beautiful KNOCKDOWN for Victoria Justice!

That move is definitely going to steal the round from up and under Mayberry, who’s alive at the moment but not necessarily kicking as hard, as she struggles to sit back up from her collapse, a look of abject shock on her face as to where she’s found herself in these closing moments of the round. Justice back to that confident smirk on her face, pumping her fist as she heads to the neutral corner to await the inevitable. But Mayberry continues to show her fighting spirit, regaining her footing by the count of 8! What a scare though, and proof the petite Doll can’t afford to overextend herself going forward, or else!

ROUND 5:
Mayberry’s spirit might have also taken a knockdown in the last round, however - the Doll’s moving about the ring with much more reluctance and far less aggression. She’s telegraphing her shots and allowing Justice to lead this dance, swerving nervously and jarringly out of the way whenever Justice pulls back a hand to take a swing at her. This can’t go on forever of course, with Mayberry’s lone jabs not landing significantly as Justice imposes her height on the shellshocked brunette. Victoria’s playing the long game here, but that doesn’t seem necessary for much longer when as she begins to control Mayberry backwards with frequent jabs to her face, more and more ammunition thrown at the overwhelmed girl till Mayberry’s back hits the ropes, suddenly in trouble with nowhere left to run! Justice FLIES into overdrive, planting her feet and SWINGIN’ away at the Doll of a sudden, sensing the end! Poor Lauren’s getting choked and blasted left and right, loud groans from lips as she does her best to cover up with her arms from the onslaught but gets KNOCKED off her feet by another violent swing to the side of her head!! And DOWN she goes again!! Second knockdown attempt in two rounds, ladies and gents, and surely everyone else in the arena can see that the end is nigh for the Doll!? This time, Lauren’s left sprawled on her back, turning over slowly and groaning up into the stadium lights as the referee grants her her final 10-count to the bell! It’s over!

Official Decision: Victoria Justice defeats Lauren Mayberry via KO5!

AFTER:
Poor Lauren’s faced one of her toughest tests in tonight’s contest, but was unable to make it over the hurdle. This marks her fourth straight loss and more problematic prospects for her long-term career in the ring. But tell that to her management, of course, who are eager to crowd around one of their own in such moments of despair:

Carmen Electra one of the first to slide under the ropes to check on Mayberry, pure concern on her face as she cradles Lauren’s fallen form whilst the medics attend to the Doll best they can. Meanwhile, Justice is merely content with this bounce-back win - doesn’t matter too much over whom it is, especially now that she’s beaten a Dollhouse trained fighter.

She celebrates back in her corner, only casting side-long glances towards Mayberry across the ring and for the most part ignoring her former opponent. Later on, she’s eager to speak to reporters by ring-side:

“I mean, all credit to Lauren and her team for being brave tonight - the little spitfire took a chance and put up one hell of a fight in there. But that’s why you don’t pit someone like Megan Fox against Brooklyn Decker - I used my strengths to my own advantage and managed to punish her throughout. She’s nice and I like her band’s music… I’d hate to see her leave the ring early. Keep it up Mayberry!”
