Weekend Review

Posted by Tractorpull Magazine on 9/11/2010, 9:02 pm

This weekend’s PPV consisted of five fights, the two main fights being between members of the Academy and Foxfire

WITHERSPOON/ SPEARITT Witherspoon was trying to mop up RiRy. She didn’t make it. She ran into Spearitt, who had other ideas. Did we see this right? Witherspoon, a “little blonde dynamo”? Well, Spearitt wasn’t impressed. It was a decent fight but it was evident early that Witherspoon was going to do what she does best, lose. Witherspoon got off to a good start taking the first two rounds but after that it was pretty much all Spearitt, who took a wide decision. Once again, an Academy bout degenerated into post fight choas as RiRy flooded the ring bent on a post fight walk. In the ensuing brawl, the Academy, as usual got the worst of it, although they were heavily outnumbered. We have to ask where were Stone and Theron when hell broke loose? They were at ringside during the fight.

BENZ/ GARTH This should have been Garth’s swan song. While Benz is on a five fight win streak, she is not considered a contender by most pundits. It is not often that a fighter pitches a shut out, but Benz did, and did it for eight rounds. There is not much to say about this fight, other than after taking the first seven, Benz flattened Garth in the eighth. This would be the the first of the one sided bouts that dominated this PPV

SWANEPOEL/ HARMON This is the only fight we missed in our predictions. We thought Harmon would win by a KO. Instead she lost by a KO. It was another one sided bout with Swanepoel taking all the rounds, except the second and third, which were draws. Swanepoel now knows how it feels to win, and win by a KO. We note that Stone and Theron were back in the corner. Probably returning from hiding out during the Witherspoon/ Spearitt brawl

VANDERVOORT/ THERON First off, being baseball fans we like statistics. We would like to correct a couple. CT’s win/loss record is 72% won and 28% lost. If you use wins against all fights including draws her win % is 70% and her loss % is 27%. Yeah that later doesn’t equal 100% even if you figure in the draws. which is why we use won/loss (our figures slightly different from Archer’s) Either figure, after over 300 fights, we think Sim woud agree, is spectacular
Well to the fight, if you want to call it that. This was another one sided bout. Vandervoort did win a couple of rounds as Charlize took the rounds off, but Vandervoort went down four times. There seems to be little doubt CT could have ended the fight whenever she wanted, and she didn’t win any fans in the audience or among the FCBA fighters for carrying Vandervoort to a decision. It was a good showing by the “golden goddess” who appears to have shaken some rust, but we stick with our opinion. She is not ready for the top tier and probably never will be able to compete at that level again

What is with the constant references over the past weeks about the relationship between CT and Bell. If anyone doesn’t get the idea by now, they never will. It has little to do with the FCBA. Can we move on?

BELL/ MADSEN Much comment and interest over the conditions of this fight which were unusual to say the least. A first in the FCBA. The expectations proved to be more interesting than the bout. It was one side just like the three previous fights. Madsen took the first two rounds and then it was all Bell who took a wide decision to garner ( no pun intended) the prize for the Academy flagpole, We are on record as being against post fight humiliations so we will not comment on the aftermath.

If I were a member of Foxfire, I would watch what Archer proses. It was his idea for the Winstead/ Theron fight to be a Victoria’s Secret Saddle match. Winstead ended up getting ridden. It was also Archer’s proposal that the loser of this match lose a piece of clothing, Madsen ended up naked, He is giving his fighters moments to remember not that they want to do so. Can’t you just see Madsen getting the DVD of this fight and saying to her son, “just watch and see what momie did last night”

OOC Ginny another good job. We just can’t resist taking potshots
