Intro:
The next fight sees the last New Blood bantamweight tournament Anya Taylor-Joy is looking to kick her year off against the hard hitting Michelle Rodriguez.

Anya is 22 years old; she stands 5'7 and holds a record of 3 wins, all by knockout with only 1 defeat.

Michelle is 39 years old; she stands 5'5 and holds a record of 11 wins, 10 by knockout with 11 defeats, she is a former FCBA bantamweight champion.

The fighters were interviewed at their gyms, with Anya finishing up her session as she heads over to the press before showering.

"Hey guys, I am so excited to kick off this year with a big name, these are the nights I have wanted since I debuted in the FCBA" says Anya with a big smile.

"I know Michelle will be a tough test, she has the power and experience to scare opponents, I need to be at my best to beat her" she admits with a bit more of a serious look.

She finishes by saying "this will be my year guys" getting her smile back as she shakes several of the journalists before she heads off to get a shower.

Michelle meanwhile is finishing working a punchbag, pounding the bag with real venom by the looks of it, with her wiping her brow as she heads over to the press.

"So I guess I am being written off by the pundits, I remember when I made my comeback all you guys said I was too good to be allowed to comeback or was that just the managers whining they had someone who could beat their girls?" Michelle looking pissed off.

"Nothing against this kid I am fighting, I wish her luck when I am done in the ring, this is about me showing you guys I am still to be feared!" Yells Michelle as she passes the press, finished up with them as she definitely isn't in the mood for them.

Fight night in New Jersey's Boardwalk Hall, Anya comes out with her coach beside her, she looks relaxed as she heads down to the ring, nodding to the fans as she goes.

She is wearing a baby blue sports bra, matching trunks and shoes, her gloves are baby blue with white thumbs, while her hair is in a ponytail.

After getting into the ring; Anya steps to the center of the ring, bowing to each side then turning to head off to her corner to get ready.

Michelle now comes out looking her usual focused self, her coach is behind her as she marches down to the ring with her eyes looking laser focused on the ring.

She is wearing a simple black sports bra, matching trunks, shoes and gloves, while her hair is braided as she jogs up the steps.

Once she is in the ring; Michelle gives Anya a stiff stare before turning to her corner, where she begins shadow boxing to warm up.

The fighters come to the center of the ring; their eyes are locked as the referee goes through their final instructions, both women looking tense as if ready to go at the drop of a hat.

When told to touch gloves they do so respectively, then turn back to return to their corners, ready to start 10 rounds of bantamweight action.

Round 1:
Both fighters start off trading stiff single punches to probe the others defence, Michelle stepping forwards behind her jab as she looks to come inside.

While Anya is working on the move, her eyes locked onto Michelle as if she doesn't want to make a mistake this early, her punches knocking the head back of the older fighter to keep her back.

Timing her attack; Michelle finally gets inside after slipping a jab, using her left shoulder to bump Anya backwards, then begins to rough up the youngster on the inside.

Anya tries to create space but Michelle is keeping her head down, keeping in the pocket to work the body of Taylor-Joy to force out groans from her.

Soon Anya finds herself on the ropes; with both fighters throwing on the inside, it's Michelle though controlling the action by using her left to nudge Anya back, her right pounding away to the body and face.

The round soon ends with Michelle showing no emotion as she returns to her corner, even after a great opening round.

Round 2:
Again the fighters start off trading single punches; as Anya looks to create space to work from, Michelle though is keeping in close range to keep roughing up her younger foe.

With a right catching Anya across the face, Michelle dips her head down as she rips in hooks to the body to make Anya groan out.

Forcing Anya to shove Michelle back, allowing her to get her punches going as she dances around the Texan, digging her punches into the face of Rodriguez.

But Michelle parries a right to move inside to land an uppercut to push Anya onto her heels, where she lands more up top to knock Anya into a corner.

Anya needing to clinch up with Michelle, an annoyed look on Anya's face sums up the success or to be precise little success she is having so far.

Once apart Anya gets on her bike to keep a gap between them as the round comes to a close, with her punches able to help her keep her opponent on the outside.

The round ends with Michelle again shows no emotions, her coach is very happy with her so far as she sits down, praising her aggression.

Across the ring Anya gets a talking to from her coach, who seems worried she is holding back because of nerves, which she tries to say she isn't but doesn't look too convincing.

Round 3:
After taking a breath; Anya comes out throwing more punches at a time now, looking to open up as both fighters trade more combinations when they get in closer.

Michelle gets in close to land another two body shots, this time though she gets clipped around the side of her head by her opponent.

Anya using her left to create space between them, a right slamming across the face of Michelle, allowing her to start backing up the older fighter.

Back and forth go the girls as Michelle keeps getting in close to work, Anya needing to keep shoving her back before she can start hammering her opponent backwards.

Late in the round Anya catches Rodriguez across her face, followed up by two more punches that snaps the older fighters head back, as Anya powers her onto the ropes with a flurry of punches.

The round ends with Anya smiling as she returns to her corner, relieved that she has finally gotten momentum going.

While Michelle doesn't look too worried, she just stares across the ring at Anya, her coach wiping her down as they tell her to keep the pressure on her opponent to crush her.

Round 4:
Early on Michelle is looking to keep bullying Anya around the ring, dipping down to throw straight shots to the abs of her opponent to measure her up for overhand punches.

But she misses with an overhand right as Anya leans out the way, a counter right crashes into the side of Michelle's head to knock her sideways.

Anya starts to counter Michelle more, using her speed advantage over her older foe to dodge then land a hard shot of her own in reply.

Another missed right off Michelle leaves her open to an uppercut, which knocks her head back, with more punches following up to drive Michelle into a corner.

Where Michelle tries to cover up as Anya throws a barrage at her, several punches finding gaps to exploit as she looks to batter her opponent.

When Michelle tries to throw out of her guard, she is caught across her face, a cut opening above her left eye by a right cross makes her clinch up.

Once apart Michelle fights on the defensive, trying to protect that cut as Anya is now the one stalking her around the ring as seconds tick away, till the round ends not long after.

Anya jogs over to her corner looking more relaxed as she sits on her stool, while across the ring it is a much more hectic as they work to patch up the cut.

Round 5:
Michelle looks a lot more measured in coming forwards, keeping her left up tight to her cut as she tries to get inside the reach of her opponent.

But Anya is moving to that side, throwing punches on the blind side of Michelle to her body, then switching up top when the Texan tries to come back with her own punches.

A right reopens that cut; it looks bad as Michelle retreats backwards, ANYA NOT RELENTING THOUGH AS SHE BASHES MICHELLE WITH A BARRAGE OF PUNCHES TO THE FACE, A RIGHT HOOK PUTS MICHELLE DOWN ON HER BACK!

Pumping her fist as she heads to a neutral corner, Anya looks confident she's cracked Michelle, 1...2...3....4.. Who lays on her back looking up at the lights, 5...6...7.. Blood running from the cut to the canvas as she turns to her left side, 8...9...10 that's all she wrote for this fight as Rodriguez is counted out!

Winner Anya Taylor-Joy KO Round 5

After:
Anya jumps up in the air when the ten count finishes, this the biggest name on her growing record as the youngster celebrates.

While Michelle is helped to sit up; her coach works on patching that cut up as Michelle punches the canvas in frustration, made even worse by the fact she started so strongly over her opponent.

Once Michelle is up; Anya is very respectful as she heads over to her to discuss the fight, both women talking up the others skills.

Michelle congratulates Anya; telling her to keep this momentum going and lord knows how far she can go, making Anya blush a little as she thanks the veteran for the praise.

Soon Michelle leaves the ring to cheers from her fans, who will be hoping that her career as a top fighter isn't over, it is hard to argue against it after the past few results though.

While Anya has her moment in the ring celebrating, doing a victory lap as she blows kisses to her fans, who cheer her on as she goes.

Soon she leaves the ring knowing she still has a little work to do, but she is going in the ring direction in her career, how far can she go though is the biggest question for Anya.
