Before: Playboy happy to renew its endorsement contract with D’errico who looks forward to better exposure in ’99. HBO picks up the Fishel/D’errico bout for their Boxing After Dark series, and positions both as exciting up and comers. D’errico sweet as Fishel in pre-fight, but her well intended concern for Dani’s health becomes insulting after awhile, i.e.: “I’m just afraid I’m going to really, really hurt Dani.”

Deri wearing Playboy pink crop top, pink bikini bottoms—Fishel in grey cotton spandex short, teal bikini top.

During R1: D’errico uses the same aggressive tactics she used against Jewel, but Dan I much quicker fisted, and with better upper body movement, beats the beef on Donna’s waist early with savage left hooks. D’errico belted up onto her toes in close, wisely steps out and jabs the rest of the way, staying outside to the bell.

R2: Brisk two way action as D’errico hooking off the jab nicely, while Dani scoring her own looping one-twos. D’errico gets the jab going late in the round, and turns the punch into a clipping uppercut to drop Dani on all fours at the bell,. Dani a little wobbly going back to her corner, gets a shot of smelling salts to bring her around.

R3: D’errico with good instincts, jumps on Dani  to open this round. One twos early from Donna break an already hurt Fishel down, and D’errico goes with a banging series of left hooks to drop Fishel to her knees again. Dani up at 8, cut in the mouth, comes out belting, and backs D’errico to the ropes with swinging lefts and rights. All Fishel down the stretch as D’errico covers up,  leaning back into the ropes and trying to roll with Dani’s churning fists.

R4: All Donna D as she slices up Dani’s face with stick and move early, then sets down on her punches to hammer Fishel with snapping left hooks to the jaw, Dani too hurt to defend herself, is an easy target, relying on her chin and heart to get her through a punishing, shutout round for D’errico.

R5: Double D cruising throwing brisk one-twos then falling in with Fishel to walk the little brunette back, but Dani still punching. Fishel takes over with scything rights and lefts to the taut waistline of D’errico, and by the final minute, Donna is soaking  up hellacious body shots by the truckload. Fishel with a bounce in her backside as she struts back to her corner, finally giving D’errico more than she can handle.

R6: Fishel pumped up despite heavu swelling on her tender lips and youthful face, comes charging out to batter Donna rhis round. Dani’s favourite combination—the chopping lead right, followed by the cranking left hook snaps D’errico’s lovely head around and the Playmate crashes to her side for a dramatic, loud knockdown. D’errico up, but bleary eyed, fades to the ropes as Dani bursts in with both fists. Savage Fishel punching action as she rips D’errico to the body and head punching, then leaning in with a shoulder to prop the folding blonde back. D’errico soaks it up like a champ, and staggers back to her corner with tears in her eyes.

]

R7: Dani fighting off D’errico’s chest for much of the round, digging lefts and rights into Donna’s body in between D’errico’s desperate clinching. Donna successful in slowing the brunette, begins tagging Dani with the right uppercut inside to finish the stronger fighter at the bell.

R8: OH DONNA! Donna D’errico puts together her finest round as a pro, absolutely giving young Fishel the beating of a lifetime. It starts when an innocent straight right catches Dani flush on the mouth, busting Fishel up and leaving her weaving at center ring. D’errico promptly snaps a left hook into Dani’s chin, sprawling Fishel on her back for yet another knockdown. Faltering once, then finally getting to her feet, Fishel seems a beaten fighter, but plows headfirst towards her opponent on instinct. D’errico stepping back in good order, SHREDS Dani with tragic left hooks to the face, spanking back the brunette’s head with each clean connect. Round grinds on with Fishel stumbling forward, taking a brutal pasting, and in the final minute, D’errico clinches up underneath Dani’s arms, stuffs her into the corner, and puts together a withering series of lefts and rights that simply beats Dani to her knees. Bell sounds to save Fishel, and her corner swarms in to help the battered little warrior to her stool!

R9: OH DANI! Practically blind, looking punch drunk and wobbly, Fishel staggers out, plants and catches Donna with her hands down with a beautiful left hook on the jaw. D’errico swoons, spinning to the side and sprawling on the mat. Now Donna needs a gut check, beating the count, but weaving on shaky legs. The two girls fall together as the crowd roars, each taking turns pasting the other’s slack jawed face, or twisting into hooks to the breasts as neither side is able to make the other miss. Toe to toe to the bell and both girls are looking WRECKED!

R10: D’errico starts with an exhausted jab, stuffing the punch into Dani’s breasts, and trying to follow up with the right cross. Fishel on wounded legs, soaking up lefts, but managing to stay under the right hand. Midway through the round, D’errico misses a tired right, and Dani, on instinct, ducks, comes back with left hook and stuns the blonde with a flush punch on the jaw. D’ERRICO GOES DOWN!! An exhausted Donna D just doesn’t have the legs to take the punch, and collapses on her back, out cold! Dani Fishel wins with a startling, come from behind, last minute KO10!

After: Dani hoisted onto the shoulders of her corner men as Donna D spends several minutes on her back, suffering terrible oxygen debt along with the concussion. It’s an easy Fight of the Year candidate, with both women going well beyond their limits to lay waste to one another on the night. Fishel needing the KO to win it, comes through like a headliner against the ever improving D’errico.
