Before: Berry upbeat in prefight, “Everyone’s all in awe of Jennifer Garner, but I look at this as my best chance in a long time to cop all the belts. Charlize and Cat—they’re too damn big for this division, now that I’ve got someone more my size, I’m going to really shine. It’s nice to know going in that I can move someone with my punches, When I feed Jenny a right hand, she’s going to back up—that’s huge for me.” Garner just raking in the cash—nothing like fighting a Bond Girl in an all-spy bout to earn a premium, “Halle’s my ‘Bum of the Month’,” says a nonplussed  Garner, “she’s a cash cow—and this is a great fight for the marketing department. I just hope she gives me 3 rounds—give me three rounds Halle, stay on your feet that long so people won’t think they’ve been scalped.”

During R1: Garner surprising Halle with stinging jabs. Berry on her heels, leaning straight back and getting NAILED the right cross as Jenny hums it home. Berry wide-eyed to the ropes, leaning back from the jab, catching the right on her mouth—Garner firing rigid one-twos as the crowd screams in anticipation. COUNTERSHOT! Halle catching Jenny a little hook on the chops-brunette stunned and Berry belts her a blinding flurry to put the champ wobbly butt! Berry scooping her girl up under the arms, muscling Jenny to the ropes—BEAT DOWN! Berry banging left hook, straight right hand, hook/right, hook/right hand and JENNY GOES DOWN! Berry skipping away, big smile—machine-like bombardment has Garner swooning. Jenny G beats the count, but she’s easily walked back into the ropes—Berry setting up big, palming her girl’s shoulders, then stuffing home the left to the waist, palming up, stuffing home the right. Halle just standing her girl up and beating her to the body—at the bell—Berry unrestrained as she yelps in triumph—Garner shaken, tottering back to her corner. Halle out of control—she bullies the ring card girl at the ropes, preventing her from entering, taking the sign and strutting around the ring herself with ”Round 2” held high. Garner seething as she’s tended to.

R2: Halle out-quicking Jenny this round. Garner still a little rocky, not taking the lead—Halle stepping in and out, stroking the hook low across the belly, batting the backhand jab, placing the right firm over Jenny’s left. Garner getting it together late, starting to stab that jab, herd Halle around the ring, but round to Berry as Halle keeps smiling.

R3: Jenny making adjustments. Outside, girls feinting, flinching, jabbing—Garner just trying to land the one right hand then clinch as Halle shoots in to work. Punch n’ clutch effective—Halle getting smothered, can’t rip her combinations—Garner able to muscle and maul on the inside and outside, her jab is positioning Halle, channeling her into the right cross.

R4: Jenny’s jab setting up the booming right—she kisses it off Halle’s chin early to put Berry momentarily wobbly butt. Halle skirting the perimeter more, not as daring—she’s discouraged by Jennifer’s canny holding on the inside, having trouble navigating the jab on the outside. Not a lot of contact this round as Garner patiently cuts off the ring, just looking for one right hand, then clinch.

R5: Fight breaks out, Halle slicing in, stroking the hook across the belly, taking a half step out to evade the clinch and walking Jenny into another body shot. Garner lured forward, ribs getting scorched and she takes a slashing right on her cheek as Halle crosses her up. Garner staggered, Halle steps right, keeps the left hand tanning midsection, dropping short rights over Jenny’s left shoulder—challenger tuning up the champ in a dazzling first minute. Midway through, Garner gritting her teeth, just squaring away and going right at Halle—girls trading harsh licks head and ribs and BERRY’S HURT! Halle’s getting minced in brutal trade, Jenny backing her up—down the stretch, Berry steps out to box. Smart adjustment from Halle, getting banged up toe to toe, she rotates right, pestering Jenny the jab, spotting right hands, and moving—Berry steals a close round. Both girls lumping up nice—they’re getting to each other big time.

R6: Halle keeps beating Jenny to punches. Berry’s little step to the right setting up chopping right hands, and that loving hook across the belly is wearing Jenny out. Jenny not jabbing as often, or with the sting she had earlier—Halle able to dictate pace and position, shooting in off Garner’s left shoulder and dousing her with blistering combinations. Garner not shut out, but she’s getting out worked, outclassed through 6.

R7: Halle controlling the first minute with her legs, turning Jenny, batting away with combinations, but Garner has an answer. Jenny hooking Halle in the tits, squares her up and turns her sideways with a cleaving right hand over the top—Berry ROCKED as she soaks up a shot, staggering away with Jenny hopping forward. Garner poking Halle to the ropes, then staying on the body getting her muscular back into juicy hooks to the belly, using the left shoulder to prop Halle Back, then doubling up the hook to the jugs. Berry breaking down visibly this round, sagging against the ropes, not answering back. Garner has her best round, punishing her opponent’s body, putting some mileage on Berry’s legs.

R8: Halle boxing early—Jenny tracking her down, touching her the jab, cutting off the ring. By the end of the first minute—Garner’s finding the range, hounding Berry to the ropes, turning her head with the right cross, Berry clinching now, spinning off jenny, trying to open up the canvas—Garner relentless in pursuit. Vicious hooks along the waist slow Halle to a crawl—she’s flat footed, palming Jenny in the shoulders, trying to push her off—Garner bullying now, pressing forward. Hook in the jugs, hook in the jugs, BOOMING right hand! Berry’s head tosses to the side and HALLE GOES DOWN! Halle sprawled picturesque on her back and it’s OVER! KO8 Jennifer Garner!

After: Jenny G getting endswell on her left eye, but smiling through the pain—great come-from-behind victory one of her best overall efforts. Berry almost salting this one away on the cards—Jenny grinning for post-fight interviews, “Dodged a bullet, guys! Seriously, Halle was setting down on her punches very well—she hurt me early, surprised me actually. Still it all boils down to managing Berry’s speed—my jab was key tonight. I slowed her up when she tried to get off, little things. I thought my body punching was very effective on her—I could hear her whimpering when I went to her belly.” Garner smiles when some wit hollers: “What about the jugs?”—Well, after the round card incident, Halle had it coming, didn’t she?”
