Intro: MEET THE FIGHTERS
Candice Swanepoel (22 y/o, 5'10"; her first pro fight) A Victoria's Secret model, Candice's only 'official' boxing experience was the exhibition with Charlize Theron in South Africa at the recent World Cup. She's had several 'Victoria's Secret model fights' but as all those tend to be, it was more slap and tickle with big, heavily padded gloves, that made it almost impossible to do real damage, or to even swing her arms after the first few rounds.
Maria Menounos (32 y/o, 5'9"; an experienced FCBA veteran with 15 career fights - four this year alone!) Maria even has pro wrestling experience on her resume in addition to the usual TV commentator and pageant bouts. She's in an established stable with plenty of opportunities for sparring in addition to having had years of training.

Prefight: Maria's said by some to be the new (or next) Debbie Dunning and while burdening a youngster with 'expectations' is always dangerous, Menounos is a 32 y/o veteran so labeling her the next anything sounds presumptuous, doesn't it? Whatever the so-called experts feel about her, Maria isn't afraid to voice her expectations for this fight. "It's really almost unfair to put that wet behind the ears kid in the ring with me. Of course I'm going to beat her, the only question is how long she'll survive. I can tell you this much, I'm not going to take it easy on her, nosiree!"
Candice is a savvy media veteran, which you'd expect from someone who's been parading around for the media in her underwear since she was sixteen. She's composed, self-assured and calm as she faces the microphones for her first press conference as a boxer. "I really don't have any expectations for this fight," she says with a megawatt grin. "I guess if I knew what I was getting into maybe I'd be a little unsettled - but while Charlize and the others have tried to tell me what to expect, they also said there's no talking that can prepare you for your first time. The only thing you can do is experience it for yourself and, hopefully, you remember it in the morning."
Menounos in fawn, faux buckskin bikini, matching high-top shoes; Candice in traditional Victoria's Secret underwire lace bra, hipster panties, white low-cut shoes. Both in red, Olympic style, gloves.

During R1: Maria out with a classic right hander stance, left raised, poking the jab, right cocked at her jaw. She's totally baffled by Swanepoel who comes flying at her, both arms windmilling wildly, throwing punches from all angles. Menounos throws the right, leans away from a wild left - right into an overhand right from the willowy South African. MENOUNOS GOES DOWN! MARIA'S ON HER BUTT! Crazy, reckless, wild swinging exchange goes limber Swaney's way. Candice jumping around, arms overhead, bouncing up and down in the middle of the ring like she's just won the world title. Referee has his hands fully gathering her up and shepherding her to a neutral corner before returning to pick up the count. Maria rocked for sure; gets up rubber-knees, loopy, but coherent and she's combative thereafter. Candice almost recklessly aggressive - showing her inexperience, wrapping wide, sweeping, punches around Maria's shoulders. Young blonde forgets everything she's been told in her all-out attempt to clout Maria out of there. Maria stumbling, staggered a couple of times - more from the impact of Swanepoel's undisciplined lunging punches landing on her shoulders or hips than any serious contact blows. Late, Maria starts firming up; answering with short chopping or digging punches to Candice's long, lean, sides; curling in behind her flying elbows; putting a grimace on the blonde's pretty face. Both women lanky, but Maria's fighting form is tight, contained, controlled while Candice's is all over the place. Late comeback by Menounos turns what could have been a 10-8 round for Swanepoel into a more manageable 10-9.

R2: Menounos' corner reading her the riot act and she smartens up to start the second. Swanepoel's second - Cat Bell - practically giving her a lap dance; straddling her thighs, arms pumping as she demonstrates proper fist position. Grabs Candice between the cubs of her designer bra and pulls her forward, making strong eye contact as she tells her what's what! Maria out with hands at her cheeks, bending at the waist as she moves straight in to rip digging blows to Candice's ribcage. Two, three, four times, Menounos turns her hips into thumping blows, the final one unhinging poor Candice's knees and she stumbles backward off balance, almost falling before her back hits the ropes. Maria walks Swanepoel down, blonde under extreme duress midway. Menounos fighting is smart and aggressive whereas what few offensive foray's Candice has had have been wildly aggressive, but largely ineffective. Round winding down, the two women exchange right hooks. Candice's bounces off the top of Maria's head; Maria's lands solidly! DOWN GOES THE BLONDE! Candice thrown back on her glutes, bounces and rolls onto her back, legs flying into the air. Maria glances over her shoulder as she struts to the far corner while Swanepoel struggles to her knees. Shaking her head, Candice rises, then staggers forward, and dives chest first to the canvas again. Referee looks like he's going to end it, but she pulls herself up the ropes and barely beats the count. Maria sees how ruined she is and the brunette bares her fangs and unleashes the hounds. Maria batters Candice mercilessly and, with just seconds left in the round, the ref jumps in, arms waving, gathering the swooning Swanepoel in his arms. TKO2 Maria Menounos.

After: Lots of fellows ringside envy the referee at the sight of him holding the nubile young blonde's battered but brave body in his arms. Swanepoel shaking her head, trying to convince someone she's alright when Menounos comes over to her corner, grabs her by the back of her bra and pulls her to her feet. Swannie sways unsteadily, so Maria reaches around her waist, grabs her far wrist and pins her arm to her hip; then uses a handful of hair to pull her across her knee. Swanepoel's firm backside is raised over Maria's muscular thigh and the brunette slowly caresses it as if considering what to do next. Finally, she shakes her head and pushes Candice onto the floor. Girl pushes herself to her knees, unfocused eyes fluttering, looking around in confusion; disheveled hair covering her pretty face; deep red blush on her cherubic cheeks. She tries to stand, long, lanky, legs like a new-born colt's, all discombobulated, uncoordinated as she stumbles and staggers around looking for her corner.
She can't stand without help and is supported by Bell and Theron as she's taken from the ring in shock. Cautious handlers spirit her away before she has a chance to address the media - an opening Maria Menounos is more than willing to fill!
"You want to know what happened tonight? It's easy; you saw a young gazelle rushed into a fight she wasn't ready for - and she got eaten by a lioness." Someone asked if that "stuff after the fight was really necessary" and Maria just rolled her eyes. "Necessary? Hell yeah it was 'necessary'! You think Jeri Ryan...Natasha Henstridge...Jessica Biel...damn, any veteran fighter...would've let some little strumpet like that come waltzing into her ring and disrespect her like that? I was going to light up her sorry ass, but she really wouldn't have known what was happening Still when she looks at the tape, she'll know what I could have done to her. And I would've done a lot more but her sorry excuse for a stable looked like they wanted to rush to the ring and bail her out. Damn girl, you want to run with the big dogs you gotta expect to get your bones gnawed every once in a while. You think THIS was bad, wait until I get my hands on her in the next fight!"
Ginny sends Theron out to face the media, probably because it was she who pushed hard to sign Candice in the first place - her being a fellow South African and all. "I was proud of the way Candice hung in there tonight," she said. "She had a couple of opportunities to throw in the towel and just lay down and give up, but she's a fighter and she kept getting up. Maybe she's a bit too stubborn for her own good, but she reminds me little bit of myself at that age. Like her, I would get knocked down and keep getting up. She's got a good chin - I know cause I hit it often in sparring - and she can take a punch. She just needs some experience and I think maybe we over reached a bit in putting her in with Maria. But Candice will learn from tonight and she'll continue to improve. Remember, she's just 22 years old."
