BEFORE: "Look," Aly tells collected press in prefight, "I'm a top-echelon fighter and I need to compete against other elite girls. Is Lilly a big step up in class? I think of it as me just stepping to where I belong. I want Lilly, Pressly, Dushku, Beckinsale and the other top girls to know that I'm here, and I'm kickin' butt! The fact is, this is going to be Missy Peregrym all over again for Evangeline. She's in with a taller, more athletic woman who's going to be hitting her hard and dictating terms with her legs. And yes - when I'm ready - when I've left the bantam weight division in rubble - there will be a reckoning for Missy Peregrym as well...but that's another story boys. THIS headline is MICHALKA BREAKS LILLY - believe it!" Lilly calm, but a little tight-lipped: Aly not showing Evangeline due respect in these proceedings. "I think it's a little premature to be comparing Aly to Missy," Evangeline says at podium. "She's not hitting anything like Peregrym did at bantam, and she's not built as sturdy either. Crisp, clean chin-clip toggles blonde head, sits Aly on buns and hands, eyes blinking all astonished. Lilly glaring down on the stomp-past...brunette fired up, punching hard early.

R2: Lilly pressing the attack - jabbing stubby from a bobbing crouch - forcing Aly to ropes early. Michalka upright - hands pushing at Lilly's shoulders - blonde girl leaning back into ropes to lick left or right uppercuts with a supple, rangy delivery, but keeping her hands low. Evangeline squaring away Frazier style - pushing at Michalka's front to set, then RIPPING her savage hooks across waist, or catching Michalka heavy hooks to chin as blonde girl leans back against ropes. When smote to head, Michalka shows earmuff, stooping forward behind mitts: cue muscular, vicious left hooks behind blonde right elbow or across flat blonde paunch. Sustained pounding starting to wear Aly down...she tries to slide-right along ropes: Lilly hooking hard, catches Aly's left cheek a clouting left, UNHINGING BLONDE LEGS! Ringing blast drops Michalka to hands and haunches...blonde girl sputtering on the spot, clearly dazed. Michalka beats the count, and give her credit: she greets Lilly with a licking array of left/right bolo uppercuts, churning Lilly up out of her stance and denying her finishing run attempt down the stretch.

R3: Aly resilient - shaking off punishment to get back to her game. Blonde girl bouncing on lead (left) leg as she works in clockwise orbit - flick-flicking out the jab from her hip; drop-chopping the elastic right; coming back a rangy, batting left. Lilly bobbing on the spot, but having trouble penetrating...lithe blonde girl able to sustaining turning engagements midring. Good strafing work done, Michalka on Lilly - blonde's punching very sleek, swift - punches bouncing off Lilly's head and shoulders as Evangeline tries to negotiate distance.

R4: Lilly stubby-jabbing out of the crouch to locate Aly, then stepping in low, swinging a heavy right hand wide to Aly's ribs: brunette forcing blonde to ropes as a result. Michalka grimacing, showing earmuff, stooping forward butt-in-ropes. Lilly settling in strong: bobbing torso keeps her underneath Aly; ripping Frazier-esque hooks tear at the Michalka waistline or clout upside her head; swinging, long right hands carve at ribs on the left side. Aly grunting in pain, but competing: she'll fit Aly for clipping little right uppercuts or bandy-armed hooks slapped across the gut. Ref's warnings to Lilly throughout: she's awfully ruff with her head/shoulders/extended elbows as she bobs-and-bumps her blonde.

R5: Pressure from Lilly as she bobs-and-weaves her way forward - slugging hard for body. Aly legging away - showing a sneaky lead right hand off the hip, then pushing Lilly in the shoulders to disengage thereafter. Lilly able to land left hooks to Aly's head as blonde girl's leaning away: Michalka frequently misjudging distance as shorter girl lunges to cover ground. Down the stretch, sudden blistering counterattack catches Lilly midring: Aly unleashing lithe, slashing lefts and rights - scoring mutliple, lanky hits to Lilly's face/skull. EVANGELINE'S LEGS GIVE A SHIMMY! Lilly suddenly amazed...tottering forward in a fog: OH, SHE EATS THE MICHALKA RIGHT UPPERCUT! Gorgeous, bendy-backed rip crushes left side of Lilly's mouth, turning her face sleepily to the side...Aly's elbow in tight to her hip as she gets legs and back into the blast. Lilly shabby with hurt - wrapping arms around Michalka's hips as blonde girl falls back into ropes: Aly jamming in right hands above Lilly's left hip as brunette lays in all wobbly-butt for ref's break.

R6: Lilly shows HER resilience - shaking off a near KO to resume rapid bob-and-weave operations. Michalka on lead (left) leg, snarling as she drops the chopping right hand in; draws it back across Lilly's eye-line; slaps the hook across; backhands the left jab to Lilly's left cheek. Evangeline pushing through the blizzard - bobbing under the work, then hooking hard out of the crouch: Aly getting her chin turned aside as both girls touch the other hard in exchange. Michalka eventually chased to ropes where she digs in to fight: drop-chopping right hands mated with quick-licking left uppercuts finding Lilly's face. Evangeline bobbing on the spot - pushing and bumping on Aly, then RIPPING in those hooks: vicious, heaving blasts snatching at paunch or thudding thick into flank. Lilly's long right sweeping to Aly's left-side ribs - punch biting deep to lats, then tracking in under the line of blonde breasts. Torrid back and forth, but savage toe to toe favouring Lilly...Michalka's mouth open, legs getting sloppy as punishment accrues. Down the stretch - vicious swinging right in Aly's ribs hurt her...Michalka cringing, sitting into ropes, unable to answer. Lilly pushes Aly in her guard, then HOOKS at her body...blonde girl sobbing aloud, crippled on the spot. Lilly pushes Aly in her guard, then HOOKS her gut; hooks her chin; HOOKS her gut; slops the right hand wide to ribs! Aly trembling, laying back into ropes for a desperation right uppercut get-off-me punch: Lilly pours in a crashing overhand right to chin, turning Aly's lights out as Michi's own right uppercut sails. Aly sliding down ropes all loose and limp...blonde girl sprawls at brunette feet for KO6 Evangeline Lilly. Meanspirited Olivia Munn tweet: "Aly's out! BOO HOO BLONDIE! WA-WA-WAAA!"

After: Michalka giving a strong account, but Lilly holds serve: Evangeline joining Landry and Garner as veterans under pressure, but holding the line against a new crop of hungry ingenues. "I felt like I had to beat this girl hard and bad," a scuffed up Lilly says in postfight. "Missy was a once-in-a-generation fighter, and Aly's just not in that league yet." Michalka herself relatively upbeat despite the loss - she tells BLONDE! Magazine: "First blood to Lilly I suppose, but the dam has burst and she's going to be swamped eventually. I have all the time in the world: Lilly's almost 30. I felt her power and I made some mistakes, but I'd fight her again tomorrow, because I know that it's only a matter of time before I reel her in!"
