Looking to get their girl some rounds away from prying US media eyes - Mendes' handlers took a Watts bout in Australia in hopes of erasing the memory of the Aniston shellacking. What they got was a good stout test, with Naomi proving unexpectedly stubborn, and Eva returning to form to gut out the win.

The first three rounds saw Naomi take the lead off a sharp left jab, constant lateral movement and uncanny timing. Light punching Watts would take Mendes off her feet with a cute little step-in hook in the second - just catching Eva posing and dropping her with placement and precision. Eva bounced immediately up, eyes blazing - but it would take her until the fourth to really get into this fight.

Despite dropping the first three rounds, Mendes never got discouraged. Watts' slashing hooks were landing and the girls were jabbing each other to a standstill - but Eva's punches carried more weight and seemed to decide the exchanges. Naomi bought herself breathing room by going to Eva's jet-propelled jugs with nasty side to side shoe-shines - backing the latina off with a hurting glare - but Eva could not be denied. Round after round, Mendes walked her girl down, put punches together and by the 8th, was routinely staggering and hurting her girl along the ropes. By the finish, it was Watts bravely holding on to go the route as Mendes would clean up on her girl 7 rounds to 3.
