Universal Studio Featherweight Title

Before: Theron puts up the prestigious Universal Studio’s belt, giving Gershon the only major title shot of her storied career. A classic boxer/puncher, Gershon shows her gratitude by constantly referring to Charlize as her “trophy blonde” during pre-fight conferences, and talking about the fight as though it is a foregone conclusion. Still, pundits wonder whether Gina’s best is behind her, and she enters a sentimental favourite amongst boxing insiders, if not he audience in attendance. Gina in red jockey two piece, Charlize in tea jockey two, Small gloves for both.

During R1: Gershon comes out with her chin tucked, economical style, but it is Theron who takes charge behind a pulverizing left jab. Bouncing the jab hard off Gina’ face, Charlize breaks the brunette down sufficiently to land short straight rights by the halfway point, and a driving one-two up the middle has Gershon ROCKED! Gina struggling to stay up, takes a series of lefts and rights upstairs, before Charlize switches her focus and bats 3 hard left hooks hard to the body of the brunette. Gershon slumps to the canvas looking KO’d for just a second, before she groggily gets to her feet. Theron patient, not wanting to punch herself out, is content to close, use her shoulder and forearm inside, and bang with short haymakers to the bell as Gershon staggers.

R2: Gina shows her toughness, soaking up the first and coming out sharp for the second. Gershon able to slip the jab and land the counter right hand wide to Theron’s ribs, as Charlize continues the straight punching attack,. Gina busier, more effective, takes a close tactical second.

R3: Gina rings Charlize up with a crafty overhand right early to set a blistering tempo for the third. Gershon putting her punches together, blitzes the staggery Theron with combinations, stepping to the right to plant and drill her punches. By the midway point, Charlize is busted up, stumbling, and taking vicious blows to her head. Pivoting, Theron turns into a stunning right cross and swoons to her back, eyelashes fluttering as she struggles to stay conscious. Charlize beats the count, but Gina is on her, Digging at the blonde’s body and tugging Theron forward by the waistband of her trunks. Gina slinging Charlize off balance by her bottoms, drills opportunistic right hands as Charlize can’t cope with the holding and hitting, Gina answers Charlize’ 10-8 with one of her own, and takes the lead on the cards early.

R4: Charlize glassy eyed, pouty mouthed, is muscled to her own corner and battered in another shutout round for the very methodical brunette. Gina working patiently, rotating her upperbody, swaying low, coming up with hard single right uppercuts or left hooks, then bending down again  as Charlize pushes out desperate swats in return. Gina a step ahead, slugs the tummy when Charlize’ guard is high, clubs the head when Theron hunches forward to protect her gut. Miserable beat down for Charlize as she simply has to sit down at the bell, having never left her corner over the course of the round.

R5: Resiliency from Charlize as she gets her legs into the bout, popping the jab, and circling to her left, Gina somewhat surprised to be getting outboxed, drops a round as she makes adjustments to Theron’s movement.

R6:Gina returns to slugging, banging one-twos then falling in with Charlize to take hold of the blonde’s trunks again, Gershon a master at slinging the opponent forward and back, getting Charlize off balance and wide open for the clubbing right hand. Theron complains bitterly to the ref, almost in between facials from Gina. Gershon gets a stern finger waggle from the official at the bell.

R7: All Charlize Theron, who nearly breaks Gina in half with left hooks to the waistline. Stepping left, Charlize twists her torso into booming blows to Gina’s body, and Gershon can only cover up, agonized expression energizing Theron who is behind on all cards. Shutout for Charlize.

R8: Gershon coming forward, slipping Charlize’ jab and countering with short right hands on the chin, following up with crisp one-twos to the body, Gena making it look easy until an exchange of left hooks midway through he round sends her reeling back on her heels. Gina desperately hurt, Theron taking a second to realize it, then the blonde s all over the brunette. Charlize eyes like saucers as she pounds the stuffing out of Gina with banging lefts and rights to the body, punctuated with the short right hand on the jaw and GINA GOES DOWN!!! Gershon battered senseless by sustained barrage, sprawls on the canvas and is counted OUT!! Impressive KO8 for Charlize Theron over terrific comp.

After: Theron claims a fine name for the resume, dispatching Gina G who got old in this fight with the “trophy blonde”. Gershon ahead on the cards, seemingly in control and hurting Theron at will just couldn’t handle the heat when it came. Successful first defense for Charlize has her on the best roll of her career.
