Before: "I just don't get it," says Alyssa Milano in prefight, shoulders shrugging, "Jennifer Connelly's an average-at-best looking girl. Face is plain. Body is like anybody's - nothing special - certainly not celebrity quality. She won an Oscar like 20 years ago. I don't understand why everybody's so nuts about her." Milano's cockiness aside - Jen enters a comfy favourite - she's got the size, the smarts and the skills to make life tough for the shorter pressure fighter with a questionable heart, but Connelly's not discounting the challenge. "I feel like I'm too much for Alyssa, but I've seen her work out first hand, and when she's serious and motivated - she's a handful. I'll box her, I'll be as patient as I need to be, then I'll dismantle her. I just hope she gives me her best fight - that's all I ask." Jen in red bra style bikini, low ponytail - Alyssa in gold tankini, highlighted hair.

During R1: Connelly working behind the jab, trying to back Milano up, but Alyssa's contesting every inch of canvas. Spirited trade - Alyssa crossing her arms in a Frazier-esque bob, whacking away wide to the ribcage - Connelly shooting straight punches, beginning her work on Milano's face. Stern right hands featured by Jen, square on the mug, beating Alyssa's hook for points this round.

R2: Milano doing a better job of getting under the jab, coming up into Connelly's right-side the hook - Jen backing up in front of the smaller woman, increasing Alyssa's effectiveness. Connelly's back touches ropes for brief intervals - she's jabbing, spinning to keep herself out of danger, but giving ground a little too hastily for judge's taste.

R3: Another close, hard fought round - both women getting their way at times in bitter exchanges. Alyssa punishing the body, working out of her crouch, getting to Jen's chest and backing her up in spots. Connelly really banging out that jab - punch a real threat from Connelly now and it's lumping Alyssa up. Jen starting to put crisp, straight jab/rights together, mopping up with a short, clouting hook on the chin to move Milano to her left.

R4: Pendulum back the other way - series of stubborn rushes sees Alyssa drive into Jennifer, back her to the ropes, beat her ribs and tits with a plastering, non-stop chopping. Connelly controlling Alyssa's head with gloves at the girl's ears, but Milano doing a nice job of fighting through the clinches, keeping the pressure on. All Alyssa till final minute - girls trade hooks and MILANO GOES WOBBLY BUTT! Aly clipped and hurt, stamping on the spot - Jen right hand at her cheek, snaps off another compact hook, catching Milano on the temple - another tight hook on the jaw - Alyssa spills sideways to the ropes. Jen pushing the jab into Milano's chest to stabilize, then shoving a straight right down into the sternum, stepping back as Alyssa shouts in pain, doubles forward hurt. Bell sounds before Jen can really pile on, but damage is done - Alyssa's blubbery, quaking in her corner, nerve starting to crack.

R5: Jen's consistent power-boxing finally buys her some room - Milano tentative for the first time, not wanting to close, but hanging around outside isn't doing her any good. Connelly showing deft footwork, circling left or right around sharpshooting jabs to the head, hooking off the stick when she moves left, dropping straight rights off the move right. Alyssa bogging down, bobbing, crossing her arms, but not coming forward the way she was in the first 4.

R6: Jen saddles Alyssa up, rides her bell to bell. Connelly stepping easy, confidently, pounding the jab onto Alyssa's drowsy face, stacking up her rushes and keeping her at arm's length. Drilling straight right hands finding the mark, mop up hooks rightside and jaw have Milano staring, uncertain. Milano not getting past the jab at this point - eyes puffing up, legs looking sluggish - she's eating too many punches through 6.

R7: Jen's in control, breaks out the baseball bat to teach Milano a harsh lesson. First minute, Jen just spanking out the jab, bringing Alyssa to heel, positioning her for the combinations. By the second minute, Connelly getting off like clockwork - jamming straight rights, clouting hooks on the jaw, often doubled up - Milano's head swivelling badly, feet stepping hurt in random patterns. As Alyssa collapses, Jennifer steps to her more strongly, hopping and chasing her down, putting more rivet-gun combinations on target, really tearing it up. Alyssa battered senseless, fielding off her face, taking tuff in her ribs, getting her breasts walloped - comprehensive Connelly beating bell to bell. During the break, Alyssa cries out on her stool as her ribs are probed and she can't go on - TKO7 Jen Connelly.

After: A sobbing Alyssa complains of cracked ribs, wincing and flinching theatrically as she gingerly exits the ring. Xrays later prove inconclusive, but it's still some of the best acting Milano's ever done. Great offensive performance from Jenny - Alyssa was rugged early, bitterly fighting back and winning minutes through 4, but Connelly's relentless concentration and execution just too much. Most impressive from Jen - the rigid combination punching - sharp, stinging, accurate punches in bunches really kicked the stuffing out of poor Alyssa tonight.
