BOXING AFTER DARK

Before: “I definitely want Durance again,” affirms Amanda in prefight. “I feel  like, she got lucky in our fight and it catapulted her to the head of the class—but I’m just as good as she is and I’m not getting the spotlight I deserve, Gershon’s a stay-busy fight for me, but it’s also an important bout because Gina’s one of the veteran fighters I don’t think Erica could handle. I’m not obsessed with Durance, I just think she’s really overrated and most of that came at my expense.” Gershon in good shape physically, most think the reflexes aren’t what they once were and she’s probably not a 10 round fighter anymore, but she’ll still put a young filly through her paces early. Righetti in yellow bikini, white flowers, wet hair—Gina G in tan hide bikini, western fringe.

During R1,2: Geometry lesson for Righetti—Gina stepping right, stepping left, backing off , bouncing off the ropes, turning either Righetti flank. Gina snatching moments with cute flurries, potshots off feints, hesitation rights—Amanda unhurt, dukes up, blocking shots at her temples, body stout under Gershon’s waist attack. Gina polishing away for points, still has the wheels to dictate a prizefight.

R3: Amanda solving the mystery with power—good thick body shot hooks, right hand tight to her temple as she bats away. Gershon clinching like a pro—Righetti writhing, twisting into tight clipping right uppies on the inside, freeing up her hook and clouting Gershon about the ear and right hip, Gina feeling the force of Amanda’s compact sock—brunette belted in a little counterclockwise reel, hanging hurt at the bell.

R4: Mission accomplished: Gina flat footed, visibly slower, more apt to clinch rather than risk lengthy exchanges, Righetti working crisply, going at Gina, pressuring her to ropes. Amanda elbows in, dukes up—starting her sequences in Gina’s bronzed waist, working up-torso, seeking chin with chop-right hands or tidy hooks. Gina fighting smart off the ropes, pointing her left shoulder at Amanda, slipping, ducking low, reaching in to clinch around Righetti’s slick waist.

R5: Amanda keeps at it—methodically hunting Gina down, hitting her arms and hips when sweeter meat’s not available—constant rubdown having numbing effect on Double G, Gershon’s lips parted, rolling punches with that lead shoulder, sliding in off her jab to clinch, resting her cheek against Amanda’s shoulder, Gina doesn’t like the youthful pace Righetti’s trying to set—fight really all about who’s going to control tempo down the stretch.

R6: Amanda jabbing to the chest, turns over a sneaky-hard hook to mouth—there go Gina’s legs. Gershon stumbling away, face stretched in pain—she covers up on the ropes, bending forward as Righetti steps-to. Bad minute for Gershon—she ships bashing shellack up and down both coasts, across her back as she dips and ducks to keep chin safe. Down the stretch, Gershon gambling, pops out of the crouch to score a crisp counter-hook to chin and RIGHETTI’S STUNNED! Amanda stepping in fence post holes, HER turn to shake off hurt—Gina slugging off the ropes with sweeping rights to the ear. Left uppercuts in tight as she maneuvers Amanda’s back to the ropes. Righetti teeth gritted, dukes at temples as she slouches forward—Gershon taking all she wants of blonde’s rugged ribcage with thumping lefts and rights to the bell. G feeling it—chests up and forces eye contact: Righetti sullen, hurt, but defiant—she’s not cracking just yet.

R7: Gina working in and out, changing up distance on Amanda, scoring with chop-chop one-twos and step-away calling card hooks. Righetti a little sluggish, backside still trying to shake off a sixth round hangover—she’s posing a little, not moving her head, soaking up good thick body shots. Gina punching in combination, brisk 3s and 4s spanking away at Righetti’s tanned torso, battering her face side to side for points.

R8: Gina goes all in. Second minute, she beats Righetti to hooks—Amanda nearly sitting down, reels wounded into the rope with how-could you eyes, Gershon outing blonde in a brunette blender—TORRID flurries of lefts and rights bat-bat-batting away, hips, shoulders, tits and chin as Righetti skids to her right along the ropes, Gina asked for the KO with her fists—Righetti refusing it with her legs, but OH the punishment: Amanda busted up horrible, crowd groaning and shouting as Gina picks up chin dramatic uppercuts or lands shocking loud amidships. Bell—Gershon’s chest heaving, eyes disbelieving: her arms humming limp at her sides as Righetti won’t go.

R9: Gina’s punched out—Amanda’s turn. Blonde hardhearted—she was savaged last round, shows no mercy this. Gershon tired, slumping at the ropes—she’s just pushing at Amanda, turning side to side as she bends at the waist, slow-rolling with Righetti’s punches. Amanda with biting combinations, hook-hooking away body and ribs, ledft uppercuts, right hands, hard shoulder-bumps. Gershon’s resistance peeling away—grim body shots digging in behind her elbows draining the tank, chin tidied up on brisk lefts and rights—poor brunette just can’t get out of there. That’s it: ref steps in—Gina’s not competing—she collapses exhausted in the man’s arms. TKO9 Righetti.

After: Righetti gets lumps, hard rounds, but stops still-formidable Gina G. “It’s on a par with Jenny O’Dell stopping Nicolette Sheridan,” notes one Celebrity Ring curmudgeon. “When a young fighter refuses to let a Gershon or Sheridan go the distance, it’s a sign of uncompromising superiority: Righetti a quality blonde.” Badly beaten Gershon concurs, “I haven’t faced Erica Durance, but I don’t see how she could be much better than this kid. Amanda’s smart, strong, tireless, an tough as prison beef. She reminds me of Jennifer Garner early in her career—very physical, technically very sound, I went for it in the 8th—plenty of girls would have quit, but Righetti just wouldn’t go—you have to hand it to her.”
