FCBA History is full of occasions I n which a heavily favoured vixen, clearly pre-occupied with bigger things—takes her eyes off the ball and gets creamed in a supposedly “harmless” stay busy fight. Returning to England simply to resecure her reputation, Beckinsale ran into the fighter recently dubbed “The Most Dangerous Woman in the UK” in CZJ’s absence, and for once, the appellation seemed no exaggeration.

Blame Kate if you wish, but Mitra was impressive. She began the fight on focused, professional fashion—outboxing Kate, beating her up on the inside and backing her up over the first four heats. Frustrated, Beckinsale, responded with power—rocking Mitra with hooks—but despite clearly being hurt, Rhona came blazing back in the final movements to prove herself a warrior under pressure. That defiance seemed to unnerve Beckinsale, who naturally had expected her opponent to collapse under hard punching, When Rhona simply upped the tempo and continued to make the fight, shaking off all of Beckinsale’s good work—favoured Kate began to unravel.

It would take another 7 minutes before Mitra could trap Beckinsale at the ropes and end er night. A savage two fisted beating left Kate sobbing on her hands and knees, badly worked over and embarrassed on her home soil. A blip in the road for Beckinsale perhaps: the kind of loss easily dismissed and forgotten. But Mitra had served notice: “I wrestle; I box; I eat big names for breakfast.”
