Note: Just finished this (Simguy's results/notes, my full writeup - as usual), so posted it right away. Righetti/Henstridge ain't finished yet (will probably be added to this thread, unless it slides down the board until I'm done)

BOXING AFTER DARK

BEFORE: Heated second-row battle at the Bonzo gym – girls not naturally hating on each other like Kat and Nadia Bjorlin did, but there’s a lot at stake here nonetheless. Law pretty much saw herself pushing Nadia to the sidelines, sweep through the division straight to a title – and now she’s going to have defend her status against a gym-partner rival she doesn’t even recognize as a real threat. With slim PPV space Nadia, Katrina, Milena and Megan Gale are all vying for attention, looking for clear positions, each girl thinking she’s the one who deserves all the fights.

Katrina’s ride has been bumpy, from highs (knocking out title fight-experienced Moon Bloodgood, outslugging Biel-buster Cassidy Freeman) to lows (Sarah Lancaster’s KO comeback, a tough loss to Nadia Bjorlin). Journalists like Katrina’s full-mouthed comments and natural ambition and agree she’s a strong fighter with potential – but a little consistency wouldn’t hurt. Govich ever the second-row, third-row fighter was unable to get past Bjorlin and Righetti last year, was last seen overpowering lightweight Alana de la Garza in November before Law took away even her second-row spotlight.

‘Everybody knows Milena’s not a real prize-fighter. She’s a brutishly strong sparring partner, the one you train against if you want to prepare for a body-slugging, but we all know she’s got no technique, no finesse, no class. And it’s not like I don’t like her’, Katrina grins, ‘Milena’s a lovely person but she’s going to have to accept that I’m the one with potential and she isn’t. I sort of feel bad for her, because she’s essentially going to be the No. 4 or No. 5 fighter in this stable’s welter pool, and that sucks for her, I’m sure. But those are the facts – these things are determined by talent, potential, class – and looks, of course. Milena’s not very glamorous’, Katrina all glowing, expressive, joyously talking about what she is and Milena isn’t. Govich listens, but she’s obviously hurt by her stablemate’s comments. ‘Look, I’m not even interested in answering all the crap she’s talking here. Ask her after the fight, okay?’

FIGHT:
R1: Big girls step out all powerful, confident, looking to hammer the other round the ring. Only one girl delivers. It’s Govich advancing, systematically moving behind her stunning jab driving Katrina around the ring. Katrina powered backwards, a little shocked at the powerful jab on display and her inability to handle it. Passive round for Law – Govich pretty much doing as she pleases. When Law wants to exchange, Milena's burying a short right hand in the pit of Katrina's stomach, starting Law off at a deficit for the remainder of the trade. Smile wiped off Katrina’s face way before the round actually ends, replaced by a sweaty, grumpy and concerned look. Icy smirk Milena at the bell.

R2: Another systematic minute for Govich opens up the second round displaying the same kind of jab that Law couldn’t handle in R1 and can’t handle now. Domination phase finally ends as Law’s looking for closer, slugging body-to-body exchanges, getting to chin via crisply-turned left rights. Chin-checked Govich punched off her stance, unbalanced and tumbling backwards, but too sturdy/proud to fall. Action turned around - Law batters her around the ring in relentless pursuit, although Milena’s not really hurt.

R3: Govich shakes the last exchanges off: gets back to business. Behind her strong stepped-in jabs, swinging strongly from her wide, strong rotating shoulders – it’s all Govich. Palms-up on Katrina's shoulders, shoves her back vigorously. Thick whacks from Milena’s body just brutally, sickly hammering Katrina’s body. Law’s all but helpless except for the occasional slug-back. Katrina wants to hurt Milena to the body, focusing on her stomach/ribs, but it’s not working. Milena all big-girl, imposing her will and her physicality on her brunette foe. Humbling round for proud Katrina – she’s under constant pressure, head snapping back from the mechanical jab that knocks-knocks-knocks at her head all the time, always strong. Whiny face Law at the bell, body-huggingly tumbles back to her corner.

R4: Govich’s jab is like a machine, her sledgehammer punching turning fiery/wild Katrina all sleepy, compliant. All that pressure all the time –strong brunette body is taking immense damage, being broken down in systematic fashion. Strong-legged, hard-nosed Katrina slowly starts to wilt, side-stepping, tumbling backwards rendered all weak by a technical jab that has her reeling. Confident stuff from Milena – she’s punching Katrina on her head or chest, being able to step into her all big-bodied and dominatingly. Law holding occasionally to get a second of pause but as they’re free, Milena’s just whacking’s away. Govich no longer just smirking at the bell – icy brunette upbeat, smiling, knows how impressive she is here.

R5: Back to Katrina-busting business for Milena? Yes, thirty seconds of jab action like we’ve seen all night. Katrina desperate, but punching back. LAW gets to Govich with that tidy right/left combo to chin – stumbling Milena’s head snapping back, knees bending, legs queasy. Finally – K-Law’s fists rotating strongly, unleashing hell. Payback time all the way – Katrina! Hurt Milena, passive, thrashed but standing. Strong legs shaking, butt wobbly as Law’s hardest punches take over. Like that to the bell – Katrina’s hitting her with everything she’s got – but Milena’s remaining up. Glances as they part all hate-filled: Milena back to her ice-queen stare, Katrina puffed up, breathing hard after hellish pounding all round.

R6: Law comes out a-storming, hoping to keep thrashing Milena. A Govich jab from her muscular shoulders stuns Law early, knocking her mouthpiece out. Sputtering Katrina all rag-doll and weak after that – Milena takes over. Ramming right hands into Law’s pretty, already-damaged face, thick whacks fired into Katrina’s chest – upper body so weakened she’s tumbling backwards, weakened to the point of having difficulty holding her balance when those Foreman-esque power punches from Govich hit her. Guard struggling, losing concentration as the pain takes over, hot brunette rallying, but a wretched sight. Oh those friggin right hands – picture-book perfect stuff from Govich’s fists – one beauty catching ALL of Katrina’s pitiful face. Eyes roll back – loud ‘g-uh’ noise escaping her mouth – then suddenly Katrina’s collapsing onto her haunches! Groggy face, glassy eyes: Law somehow able to stagger to her feet, but it’s no good for her. Hard look Govich – driving poor Katrina to the ropes, battering her hands away, ramming right hand after right hand into Law’s ghostly face. WHAT A POLE-AXE RIGHT THEN – Katrina instantly dropping from the impact, lands on face-down, knocked out. KO6 Milena Govich!

AFTER: Poor Katrina knocked out heartlessly, sleepily slumbering face-down, mouth opening slightly, eyes still closed. Govich all towering over her fallen prey – seething with hate and sweet revenge for all the pre-fight talk. Katrina had her moments, but over the course of the fight Govich clearly dominated her – systematic win very impressive for her, showing strength and the finest jab technique she’s ever shown. Law set back hard – people expected her not to beat Bjorlin, but little-known Govich? Does Katrina deserve the attention and all the fights? – people raising serious doubt about who’s supposed to be the new-welter-with-potential at Bonzo.
