Before: Canada's Emmanuelle Vaugier is little known, but the 34 year old's recent exposure as: an assassin on "Hawaii 5-0"; a spy in "Covert Affairs" and an FBI agent in "Human Target" - has started getting her looks from some of our domestic divas. Vaugier is a high-quality, low-profile, fighter who's never gotten the recognition she deserves. In terms of technical ability, she can box with anyone so it's no surprise when top fighters avoid her. As a result, she's been apartment wrestling and boxing second tier opponents; or those bigger; or better. And it's pretty much the same story tonight. Vaugier had a contract to fight Grace Park, who came down with a 'virus' and 'reluctantly' pulled out. The same thing has happened before with Angelina Jolie and Teri Hatcher, both suffering 'hand injuries' while training for Vaugier. 

Against Theron, 5'8" Emmanuelle will come in a bit above her usual bantam weight - likely up around 122 by fight time. Not that the weight matters. She's always gone with her speed as her best weapon and she'll try to use it to bamboozle the judges into giving her a win on points because knockouts aren't Vaugier's thing. The few she's had came in South America and Europe after her quickness and speed wore down the opponent as much, if not more, than her punches. And it's not like others haven't done the same to better fighters before (see Diaz, Liu and more recently Glau-Swan as examples), so there's a roadmap if Emmanuelle can just follow it. Her hands are faster than Theron's and her feet more nimble, but Charlize is the bigger, more robust woman with longer arms and legs. All the advantages seem to be in Theron's favor, but she's lost in similar circumstances before and if it happens again tonight, you can be sure you'll hear the whispers about her "lack of commitment to training" or something similar...perhaps "Cat Bell is too much of a distraction" or "Theron's jealous of Swanepoel's success" - there's always something for the tabloids in the wake of a loss... justified or not. 
Charlize in a tiny, sleek, gold metallic bikini that leaves little to the imagination; saucy French braid, bare feet; sending a subtle message to the FCBA that her body is definitely in tip-top lightweight condition. Vaugier in her 'Hawaii 5-0' bra/panties/thigh-hi's letting everyone know she's not going to be intimidated by Theron's world-class chassis. 

During R1: Vaugier showing her great footwork early on; giving Charlize a lot of rapid, side-to-side motion - constantly changing direction; never giving her the same angle twice. Charlize trying to put her jab on Vaugier - but instead she exposes herself to crisply banging, straight left and rights that Vaugier delivers in quick, concussive, bursts. Emmie not afraid to fight inside either, coming in behind stiff, hard, pounding blows to the blonde's face and torso; frequently startling Theron. But these are still bantamweight shots and while they're clearly annoying,, they can't deter Theron's constant stalking - though as the first round winds down, Charlize has been unable to find the mark with anything that comes close do doing harm. Judges impressed, give the round 10-9 to Vaugier for her nifty footwork; quick hands - and the way she looks in her lingerie(?) 

R2: Second verse; same as the first. It ain't broke and so Vaugier's not fixing it. Constant rapid movement, combined with her veteran's ability to straight-stamp punches in bunches keep Theron wrong-footed; off balance. Theron pumping the jab, keeping Vaugier outside better this round, although when she can slip inside Theron's defenses she's hands up/elbows tucked in; head bobbing, dipping, twisting, turning, never giving Charlize an easy target. Emm rat-a-tat-tatting tit every time she's in the pocket, putting a frown on Theron's face. Charlize's chest pinking up nicely after two rounds - she's throwing her right - but unable to land anything but cuffing, scuffing, stuff as Vaugier either too far away or right in her bra! Style and speed the key as Vaugier out-styles Charlize for points without landing a punch of any significance. Nice tactical 10-9 round for the Canuck who leads 2-0. 

R3: More of the same again! Vaugier dancing around, juking in and out, then lowering her head and barreling in to riddle Charlize's haughty bosom with flurries of 'puppy punches' - stamping those proud Oscar winning jugs flat with straight criss-crossing patterns - then escaping to leave Theron in chest-heaving, hands-on-hips, frustration. Next time, Charlize protecting her assets with her left arm at her chest, chin tucked into her shoulder, so wily Emmenuelle lets her fingers do the walking, going a bit further South, romping down-torso to stamp away palm-down straight shots into that well-fed belly of the blonde beast; taking a slab of ribs to feast on. Theron not idle, keeping her jab working non-stop, but missing on her uppercuts with EV in tight. Late in the round, however, Charlize finally lands a heavy left hook into Vaugier's right flank that takes the brunette's breath away as she goes stumble-stepping back into the ropes. Emmie mincing back to her stool breathless as Theron gets on the board, if only just, in a 10-9 round. 

R4: Charlize cashing the check on the toehold her hook deposit bought her in Vaugier's flank. Now it's the big blonde who's crowding in close off the hook; working short-shrug lefts and right uppercuts in tight with Vaugier's back on the ropes. Emmie getting picked up stiff, but staying in command with her legs and high volume punching. Late, the damage to CT's face now visibly apparent. Stone/Bell in Theron's corner working desperately to keep down the swelling around her eyes and Cat's getting out the Endswell for Charlize's puppies too. 

R5: Theron getting anxious, starts extending, reaching with her left jab just to find Vaugier's chest; leaving herself vulnerable to ripping volley fire receipts that see Vaugier spank Theron's startled face. Early signs of give show up in Theron's long legs as the face-pounding drives her back to the ropes. Vaugier stepping with; again testing the blonde breadbasket with straight lead right hands to her midsection in pursuit; standing her up against the ropes to cleaning up on Theron's juggs just the way she should. Theron trudging slowly to her corner, arms crossed supporting her throbbing juggs; sweat (tears?) on her cheeks. 

R6: Theron surprisingly being busted up by the light-hitting-but-quick-mitted brunettee bantam. She's still grimly determined, however and shifts to an uncharacteristic (for her) high, rigid, guard; leaning into the teeth of Vaugier's Gatling gun combos; looking for simple hook-to-body/left uppercut/right uppercut sequences to take the steam out of Emmie's tireless legs. Vaugier, feeling the weight of shot; still outpunching Theron on a sheer volume basis, but the judges give the round to Theron who not only seems to be the one relentlessly coming forward, but who clearly landed the better, harder, punches this round. 

R7: Theron still can't connect with the right hand up top - although she's throwing 'em tactically - forcing Vaugier to cover up instead of tattooing Theron's torso; then picking Emmie up with left hook/uppercut combinations. Vaugier's punch output dropping dramatically and Theron now able to step up the middle, hook the flank, shrug uppercuts in close;; rocking Vaugier back on her heels again and again. Now it's Theron getting big on Emmanuelle, riding her forearms onto Vaugier's shoulders for the first time, disrupting Vaugier's stance, weighing her down with her bulk, bullying her backward to the ropes for some good old fashioned body bludgeoning. Big girl working over a smaller opponent. Good, solid, round all Theron, all the time. 

R8: Shutout Vaugier! Huh? After a round off, it's back to the same pinpoint, bell ringing, straight-punching combos to head, belly and torso. First minute Vaugier slips the jab and rings up Theron's left breast with a short, chopping right that brings a squeal of pain. Theron really being busted up; getting punched groggy as she bravely faces into the rapidfire; relentlessly punching Energizer bunny that is Vaugier. Emmie circling CT, getting off at will, buffing those boobs with a shoeshining a Union Station stand operator would be proud of. Bell hurries out to meet Charlize on her way to the corner; cold towel over her head; easing her butt down on her stool. Stone croucing between her knees, hands on thighs, head bobbing up and down as she delivers urgent instruction while Bell is all in Charlie's bra top with both two hands full of the Endswell. 

R9: Theron knowing she needs this round badly, banking on the left hook into Vaugier's flank and it cramps Vaugier up early. In the busiest toe-to-toe trading of the fight, Theron able to shrug in one uppercut after another, then bump/shove her way forward; eating up the ring; crowding Vaugier into smaller and smaller area. Charlize finally gets Vaugier back on the ropes where she redoubles her efforts to the Canadian midsection; driving in with both hands pumping; head on brunette shoulder. Vaugier shipping the hurt; tight little butt-in-ropes. It's a classic big-girl finishing run. Feet wide, outside Vaugier's, pinning/trapping the smaller woman on the ropes. Unable to escape or get out of range, Vaugier stands in for a terrible pasting unti...she's out on her feet when the ref stops it in the closing seconds. TKO9 Theron.
