Before: Moss looked overpowering in her win over Courtney Thorne-Smith, and many insiders feel this a pointlessly dangerous fight for Jones to take. Carrie Ann is another total package fighter with no apparent weakness other than a lack of high quality opposition on her resume, and is quietly coming in. Janet in white aerobics two piece, white gloves and shoes. Carrie Ann in red high cut bottoms, black jog bra.

During R1: Both girls elect to work outside, picking away with the jab, moving to the left and trying t throw the one-two, Midway through the round, Janet bangs back Carrie’s head with a sneak lead right pulverizer and Moss’ knees buckle momentarily, Janet on her in an instant, hammers Carrie’s flanks with those withering body shots to the bell.

R2: Janet wants to get back at Carrie’s midsection, but Moss opens the round with a slick double left hook, right hand to the jaw AND JONES GOES DOWN! Janet is desperately hurt, beats the count, but those long legs are trembling. Jones pushes out a feeble jab as Carrie walks through it BRINGING a pounding right hand to the head of the blonde and hammering Janet to the ropes. All Moss as she steps in and out on Janet, turning her body into compact haymakers, paying equal attention to the body and head, Moss starts to punch herself out as a battered Janet Jones clinches to the bell.

R3: Cue comeback. Janet leads with a hard right hand from a wide stance, and now Moss is hurt! Carrie Ann covers up at center ring, giving Jones her body, and Janet welts away with those straight arms lefts and rights in behind Carrie’s elbows. Jones patient, digs primarily to the waist, but uses her shoulder to set up prying right uppercuts between the mitts to keep Carrie at bay for the shutout.

R4: Carrie on her bicycle, sliding around Jones and stepping forward to snap off quick combinations,. Jones timing the movements, rattles Moss once again with a short left hook midway through the round, Round scored a draw as Carrie the busier, Jones the more effective aggressor.

R5: Lead rights are killing Carrie Ann Moss, and she takes another spearing blow to the mouth to start off the round in trouble. Jones’ bets round of the fight sees her bully Moss for the first time, shoving the brunette to the corner, putting her punches together, and wearing down Carrie-Ann’s legs with thumping body blows. Moss can’t get off the ropes--she covers up and takes 3 looong minutes on blonde ambition.

R6: Jones comes out with her left extended, reaching as though to touch gloves, then coming over the top with everything she’s got behind a looping right hand. Moss walks right into the kill shot and crumples to the canvas, rolling to her back in pain. Somehow, Carr8ue finds the will to stand, but she’s got a serious case of wobbly butt as she tries to clinch. Jones hammering away at the flanks, settles into her routine of pounding hooks and uppercuts to salt away another shutout round.

R7: Moss getting outboxed this round as Janet lures her forward, stepping nimbly back and swatt5ing with short left hooks and chopping right hands.

R8: Carrie gets her second wind and engages in a series of sharp exchanges early this round, forcing Janet into retreat. Carrie takes over behind her mean-spirited left hooks, and by the final  minute, she is tenderizing Jones on the ropes. Jones leans back, exposing her chin for just a second, but moss is there with a snapping left to leave Janet momentarily defenceless. Bell sounds to save Janet as Carrie realizes she missed a good opportunity there.’

R9, 10: Janet Jones comes out and does what she has to do to win this fight. Steering Moss with maybe the best jab in the business. Janet circles, using her legs, and making it impossible for Carrie to set up her combinations. Carrie has to chase, has to take risks, and her beautiful face gets a nice glossy shine job in the process. Jones cruising to the final bell, gives Carrie Ann a big hug at the conclusion. Unanimous decision Janet Jones.

After: Janet admits this was her toughest fight. Although she went the distance with Hurley, Liz was more foxy than dangerous--Carrie Ann had Jones legitimately hurt on several occasions, and Janet isn’t used to being on the canvas. But it’s another one in the bank of Jones, and she retains her top contender status in good shape.
