8 Round Seniors Bout

Before: Well-made seniors bout about as hard to call as you can get. Basinger more notorious, but Rogers no slouch as a regular Network title contender in the 80s. Both women with classy all-court games, an both still have legs. Basinger in pale blue cotton tank top and panties, Rogers in red.

During R1: Rogers leaning forward from a wide stance, hands in front, while Basinger more compact, gloves high. Kim snapping off short lefts and rights from the elbow, just dropping her fists onto Mimi’s face as the brunette looks to hem the blonde in. Rogers scoring late with spanking wide one-twos to Kim’s ribs, brings pain to Kim’s face and takes the round with flashy power punches

R2: Rogers emboldened, steps up and swings away wide, leaving herself open, but Kim too busy buckling to take advantage. Basinger forced to clinch, and Rogers wins a series of early exchanges, beating down Kim’s guard to force the blonde to hold for a break. In the final minute, Basinger cross-steps away, popping little lead right and straight left, but Rogers pressing the action to the bell.

R3: Basinger knows there will be an opening, and comes prepared this round. Niftily punching inside Rogers circular body shits. Basinger pounds the one-twos up the middle, banging back Mimi’s head and forcing her into a panicky retreat. Basinger setting up in front, not wasting any punches, using the jab to work on Mimi’s eye while the brunette struggles to get her legs back. Round ends as Basinger works with slick one-twos against Mimi’s face and shoulders, pounding the brunette into a defensive crouch at the bell.

R4: Brisk exchanges at medium distance as the girls trade 2-fisted combinations, Basinger likes to bend side to side, pounding her fists in little hammer motions up the middle, while Rogers bobs up and down, looping her shots. Both girls soak it up in high contact action, but it’s Rogers backing the opponent up, and making the fight.

R5: Basinger getting gritty, dipping her shoulder and digging left hands short and hard into Mimi’s suspect gut. Rogers hurting, slapping her punches, and Basinger able to bang hooks to Mimi’s body and head at the bell.

R6: Shutout Basinger as one girl finally bullies the other in this fight. Kim bodying up on Mimi, shouldering the brunette back, pounding around her elbows to the body, then bouncing left/rights off Roger’s head in retreat. Mimi stooping, bending at the waist, but not punching, often gets caught with arms crossed in no man’s land as Kim lets her combinations rip.

R7: Rogers with a shutout! Mimi getting after Kim’s body with driving Lucia Rijker straight right hands, paying Kim back as her blonde looks to slide along the ropes. Rogers putting her body on Kim, leaning after punching, then pulling back for a quick uppercut or hook, has Kim swelling under the right eye at the bell.

R8: Both girls sense it’s close, and it’s toe to toe warfare as each digs down to hurt the other. Rights and lefts often connect simultaneously--each girl rocked sideways, but both refusing to quit. Down the stretch, Basinger wants it more, finally separating herself from the brunette long enough to beat Mimi down against the ropes. Basinger punching after the bell, has Rogers looking slack-jawed and desperate, but the decision comes back a well-received draw.

After: Basinger behind going into the 8th, gutted it out and handed Mmi a beating I the final round of a very close, well-fought affair. Case could be made that Basinger won based on the 3rd being the single biggest round for either woman--but neither contests the duke.
