Charlize Theron vs. Gena Lee Nolin (III) 16-Jul-1999

Rabid promoters rake in the dough as these two beauties put on a talk show circuit that makes every set a potential Springer episode.

Nolin fans the flames by claiming to have pushed for the rematch, saying, "I haven't had enough of Charlize yet."

Theron outraged at this allegation, contends she had to up-front money just to get Nolin back in the ring. Nolin in yellow bikini, black mesh to the neck, white gloves, white shoes; Theron in blue jogbra, white high cut aerobics bottoms, white gloves and shoes.

Round 1: Anyone see Roy Jones rematch with Montel Griffin? Theron absolutely beats Gena senseless this round with a blistering start. Holding her right high, left low, Charlize invites right hands and counters with vicious sweeping left hooks on the jaw that hurt Gena seconds into the round. Nolin founders around the ring, her face a bitchy grimace as Theron hunts her down and whacks her with cracking hooks. As Nolin stumbles back, Charlize leans into the right cross, neatly dropping GENA ON HER BACK. Nolin barely beats the count and staggers forward, only to be driven back to the ropes by booming lefts and rights to her stomach. Charlize all over Gena, shoving the blonde into the ropes, bashing her fists against Nolin's body, shoulders and head in a non-stop rain of abuse. Nolin staggers from ring post to ring post, but is too shaky-legged to run. Huge 10-8 round for Theron who returns to her corner uncharacteristically wild-eyed, gesturing to the crowd which responds enthusiastically.

Round 2: Gena comes out with a panic-stricken look, but fights cagily and effectively to get back into the game. First minute is all holding as Gena seeks to slow Charlize down. Mired in clinches, Charlize is victimized by savage lacing to her eyes inside and so bad is the scraping attack at one point, the ref. actually intercedes (rare in the FCBA) to give Gena a severe finger waggle reproach. Gena on the outside, pokes at Charlize' eye with a looong jab, clearly not wanting anymore of Theron's power punches.

Round 3: Charlize up-tempos, cuts off the ring and gives Gena a pulping this round with the jab. Pounding her left into Gena's face, Charlize hounds Nolin to the corners, then hammers the tall girl to the waist with sapping body blows. Shutout for Charlize as she hunts Gena down and makes her pay throughout.

Round 4: Gena continues to fight desperately, clinching and pulling Charlize head down at every opportunity. Good holding and hitting, and a nice back-fist jab begin to close Charlize left eye as she has difficulty mounting sustained offense this round.

Round 5: Charlize goes to Gena's body with left hooks, drubbing the lanky blonde up against the ropes, but a looping right

uppercut lifts Theron onto her toes late in the round. Charlize hurt, staggers forward as Gena pivots off the ropes, bludgeoning Theron back onto them with a right to the ear. Suddenly, Nolin is HURTING CHARLIZE WITH SWINGING LEFTS AND RIGHTS TO THE BRA. Dazed, Charlize pushes back with her punches, but takes a savage beating in the final minute.

Round 6: Identical round sees Charlize open methodically, cut down the ring and work her opponent, only to see the work undone when Gena steps into a wide RIGHT HAND TO THE BREASTS AND HURTS THERON ONCE AGAIN. Theron hunches forward, leaning into Gena as Nolin swings away, and once again, long, heavy handed blows pound upon Charlize's head and chest. Strangely, Nolin still wears a panicky expression, but the fear is fueling her fury as Theron wobbles uncertainly to her corner at the break.

Rounds 7- 8: Charlize gets it together and guts out a pair of tough, well-fought rounds by both women. Difference is Theron's jab, heavy and straight into Gena's face, breaking the tall blonde down and leaving her vulnerable to follow up hooks and crosses. Gena all power punches at this point, slowly gets herself out-boxed as Theron steps to the right, away from the right hand and exploits angles for her combinations.

Round 9: Charlize really hammering away at Gena with the punishing jab. Nolin's hands begin to drop as her eyes glaze, and Charlize goes for broke. Hooking off the jab, Theron batters Gena to the ropes, then lands a crushing, short right hand on the chin to DROP NOLIN TO HER KNEES. Gena beats the count and lays on the ropes as Theron wades in, and the crowd roars to it's feet as both beauties tie into one another without restraint. It is savage and artless punishment as both shove with elbows inside and hammer away with right hands, each sustaining terrible punishment when CHARLIZE IS HURT. SHE STAGGERS BACK FROM A SHORT HOOK TO THE BREAST and Gena surges forward, lumbering in behind wide lefts and rights to batter Charlize across the ring. Round ends with Gena welting her foe to the jaw in an effort to gain the stoppage, but Theron, wobbly butt and all, keeps her feet to the bell.

Round 10: Charlize a battered wreck, Gena an exhausted wretch - the two stagger towards one another and immediately fall in together. Mean-spirited low blows and lacing from Gena on the inside as Charlize pouts and tries to wrestle her way free. NOLIN JUG MUGS CHARLIZE THIS ROUND, SCRUBBING AND ELBOWING THERON'S BOOBS at every opportunity - very little in the way of boxing occurs. It's not enough - Theron waltzes away with UD by a wide margin on the cards on the strength of the two knock downs.

After: Theron answers the critics yet again, handing out a brutal beating to Gena. Nolin impressing some with her ability to go the distance, but despite landing that right hand hard and often she couldn't put Theron down on the night. Most suspect Theron could have ended it in the first and only prolonged things in order to punish Gena Lee for her deliberate insolence. If so, it would be one of the few times that Charlize has ever let her personal distaste for an opponent dictate her actions in the ring.
