KIM’S KRUSHERS VS ULTIMATE FIGHTER

STABLE WAR #3

Posted by Simguy on 7/16/2004, 7:40 pm.

Before: Widely considered to be Ultimate’s best chance to get back in the stable struggle—lot of pressure on Romijn to make good on the threat. “I’m sick of the Krusher Korus Line,” Becky say of her opponent’s tendency to form up and make with the high kicking Rockette routine trouncing an unfortunate U-girl. “It ends with Heigl. I feel like I’m the stopper on this squad and after me, we’re rolling the Krushers up, one fight at a time.” Katherine not getting a lot of face time with Janet Jones in training for this fight as Theron’s sudden swerve to O’Dell draws down most of the Krusher resources.. “It’s no biug deal,” Katherine shrugs. “Theron’s the big dog. I’m a self-starter—I don’t need anyone to wake me up early or make me do road work.” Heigl in bulging pale blue bikini and pretty ponytail w/curls—Romijn in black push up, pink bikini bottoms with fat whit polkadots.

During R1: Heigl off to a strong start—ducking and jabbing up at Romijn to surprise her, backing Becky ropeside and going at her out of a Marciano torso-roll. Big, shellacking lefts and rights as Heigl weaves in and out of her crouch, moving her head well—fists pounding off Becky’s shoulders and biceps, waist and chest as she leans back to avoid chin checks. Romijn forced to tie up head and arm on Kathy, hanging on for breaks.

R2: Shutout Romijn. No surprises—leggy ring generalship—every inch of canvas used, forcing Kathy to move her feet, Snapping up-jab, frequently open-hand and back-hand—Becky drawing warnings. Beck cute off the ropes, reaching for Kathy’s head and shoulder, pulling her forward and sidestepping prettily to spin out.

R3: POUNDING shutout Heigl. Scored the same as Becky’s second, but much more punishing—Kathy jabbing high and leaning into those pulverizing right hands just beneath Becky’s heart to send blonde reeling. Romijn open-mouthed—weak-kneed from these shots and she has no choice: shameless running, drawing boos—but Becky just can’t let Heigl drive home those blows. Kathy smiling at the bell, saucy little hip shake, drawing her elbows in and swing-jiggling those hulking jugs left and right—she’s a confident beauty during the break/

R4: What do you like? Becky’s graceful ring management and rangy jab—Heigl’s thumping right handed power to the ribcage? Both women having their moments—Romijn using the ring, starting to unleash the right hand a little more to catch Heigl on the way in. Katherine pawing the jab up top to distract, then going all-in with right hand heart-punches, falling in to Becky’s chest and working hard until the inevitable clinch.

R5: Heigl making the fight—Becky often stumbling in her haste to escape off the ropes, scattering around the ring, Kathy brazen though and it costs her late. Romijn able to line Heigl up and walk her into a crashing right on the chin—long, slinging wallop puts Heigl wobbly butt—sends her stomping sideways as Becky finally gets a little respect.

R6: Heigl a little more tentative—dukes flinching up to her eyebrows, weaving her torso side to side as Becky flicks backhand stick—Romijn keeping Kathy at arm’s length. Becky getting what she wants—range and tempo, easy circling pace at midring, Heigl being a good little girl on the outside.

R7: Shutout Beck. Romijn not doing much damage as Heigl when she dominates, but she’s in total control this round, fighting when she wants, moving when she wants, frustrating Heigl’s pursuit. Katherine occupied by the jab and not collapsing distance—when she comes forward, she’s either picked up hard intercepting rights or sweetly spun around. Romijn showing class, and a little brass—pursing her lips to b low a kiss at Heigl after the bell: swollen-face resentment from punished Katie in response.

R8: Becks goes for the knockout. Heigl charging in early, walks into a gorgeous bolo right uppercut on the teeth—Katherine stumbling back from the punch, then dropping to her backside with a delayed reaction—Becky hooting with pleasure with so much clock to deal with. End of minute one—Heigl sliding to her right at the ropes, Becky stepping with and shellacking right hands to the side of Kathy’s head—Katherine bludgeoned to her knees at the ropes as Becky stops and hoots, forcing referee intervention. It’s a turkey shoot—Heigl busted up, wobbly butt, staggering on boneless legs and Becky hunting her down, lethal right hand cocked just beneath the chin and whistling out in shearing arcs off measuring jabs. Crowd reacting as Heigl is tagged flush again and again and again—Katherine beaten unrecognizable, staring stupidly into punishment, but curvy Krusher won’t go down again. Romijn chest heaving, punched out at the bell—she’s all over the ref in frustration, demanding to know why this fight wasn’t stopped. Heigl wanders to ther wrong corner, is escorted to her stool by a concerned Janet Jones. JJ holding Katherine’s head close during the break, whispering in her left ear—no expression from Heigl as she sits in swoon.

R9: Heigl bleak, busted up, yet coming forward—Rebecca Romijn can’t believe it. Becky shooting some right hands in the first minute and connecting, but the snap is gone—Heigl’s walking through the shots now, forcing Romijn to get back on the bicycle. Becky still has wheels, directs traffic with her jab and runs the clock: tall blonde looking to coast to a decision as Katherine rallies late.

R10: Heigl comeback: flat footed, stalking, THICK right hands to that ribcage. Romijn teeth bared, wincing, back hitting ropes. Big blonde’s arm-weary, can’t keep Heigl off her and Katherine’s SURGING to the finish line. Set piece battles as Katherine chases Beck ropeside, then fights off the chest—desperate struggle for Heigl to drum that torso before beck can tug down on the head or tie up those arms. Midway through, crowd roars to its feet as Romijn botches a clinch and takes a swinging right off her left temple—blonde’s legs accordion bend, then straighten--she staves off the knockdown with a headlock clinch on squirming Heigl. All Katherine down the stretch, RUNNING at Romijn  after referee’s breaks, swinging away with no fear of reprisal—Romijn giving away the round with just one thing on her mind: survival. Bell sounds, Becky’s still standing—both women lift their mitts and strut, anticipating victory. Come back UD10…Rebecca Romijn!

After: Becky screeching “YES!” as her left arm is raised—Heigl downcast, eyes swollen to slits, comes up heartbreakingly short in a battle of high contrast styles. Ultimate gals take the ring in a volleyball style group hug, everyone jumping, squealing, carrying on, then THEY all form up to show the Krushers some leg. Theron, Jones won’t have it—they charge in to break up the fun-bunch—officials swarm in—it’s chaos as humiliated Krushers make a tawdry scene in the ring. “It’s outrageous,” Theron tells BLONDE! magazine in the aftermath. “Becky really put the hammer down on Katherine—Heigl was hurting, looking for hugs, looking some leadership from me, and the Ultimate tramps start high kicking? It’s disgusting, that’s what it is. You know, Katherine’s right there, in the ring—she can see and hear everything they’re doing…I’m appalled.”
