3. Jamie Pang vs Natalie Yeo

Jamie:

Natalie:
(28, 5’7, FCBA Debut, Free Agent)

Pre-fight:
Seeing how participants of the previous local event had earned followers for themselves, Natalie was eager to be part of it. In fact, she only started boxing training a month ago. She came in slightly taller and heavier than Jamie, but Jamie did not let that intimidate her. She confidently stuck her hand out and shook Natalie’s. “Let’s have a good match!” Natalie nodded before the pair posed for the cameras.

Hours later, Natalie entered the arena first, sporting a purple sports bra and white tights, fighting in yellow gloves. Her hair was tied in a high bun. Jamie entered next in black sports bra and tights, fighting in white gloves. Her hair was tied in a high ponytail.

ROUND 1:
Coming off a professional victory, Jamie strutted confidently to the center of the ring and touched gloves with her taller and slightly heavier opponent, Natalie, who is making her debut. Nat lunged in and threw strong punches from the start, but the slightly more experienced and nimble Jamie was able to sway and duck from all of her blows, frustrating Nat. Worse yet, Jamie was able to land her blows on every opening she found. Natalie gritted her teeth and tough out the attacks. The bell clang and Jamie led the round wide!

ROUND 2:
Jamie remained light on her feet, letting Natalie chase her instead. Natalie’s high intensity training more than made up for her lesser skills as she chased Jamie tirelessly. One minute into the round, Jamie even connected with a right body hook-left jab-right cross combo. The fans cheered for Jamie as she continued to control the round. However, Jamie grew complacent and allowed herself to be caught with a strong right from Nat! Jamie’s arm flailed as she tried to maintain balance. Natalie capitalized on the opportunity and rushed in with a couple of stiff blows to her body. Wincing in pain, Jamie tried to fight Nat off, descending into an all out brawl! Punches were flying everywhere but Nat seemed to be more tolerant of the punches. Desperate, Jamie clinched onto her opponent seconds before the bell clang. Natalie managed to steal this round.

ROUND 3:
Jamie looked hurt but determined as she moved forward to touch gloves with Natalie. Natalie took a more conservative approach this round, choosing to go on defensive rather than letting the counter-puncher get her. Jamie used her superior footwork to confuse Nat and caught her with a few jabs to the face. This strategy proved to annoy Natalie as she threw a careless straight, giving Jamie the opportunity to land a few body shots on her. Natalie clinched onto Jamie and used her power to shift Jamie into the ropes. As soon as the ref broke them apart, Natalie pressured Jamie into the corner and landed a few body hooks and crosses. Jamie desperately defended and managed to swerve out of the corner. Riding the momentum, Natalie chose to chase Jamie, repeating the mistake she made the previous round. This time, Jamie landed a few swipes across Nat’s cheeks. Jamie eventually took the round with a close lead!

ROUND 4:
Seeing Natalie spent, Jamie decided to turn up a notch to finish her in this round. Jamie went in strong, taking Natalie apart bit by bit. At this point, the bigger woman was beginning to feel the burn from Jamie’s body hooks. Natalie had to fight back. So she took a gamble at the last minute and swung a right hook that caught Jamie on the side of the head! Jamie was shook! Natalie capitalized on this opportunity and landed a few clean shots to her face! Natalie finished the round strong but was visibly upset that she didn’t knock Jamie out.

ROUND 5:
The two evenly-matched fighters touched gloves once more. Sweat pouring out of every pore of their skin. Jamie was humiliated in the previous round and planned to redeem herself. On the other hand, Natalie was exhausted. Perhaps, the disadvantage of a heavier body was beginning to show as the match dragged on. Jamie came in strong once more, this time mixing her punches up, forcing Natalie to retreat. The fast punches didn’t leave any room for Nat to attack. Moreover, her guard was weakening due to exhaustion. Towards the end of the round, Jamie delivered a few clean shots to the head that sent Natalie into a stupor. Luckily she was saved by the bell! Jamie won this round by shutdown!

ROUND 6:
Natalie was heaving heavily as she stepped out of the corner while Jamie looked impatient. Jamie forced Natalie into a retreat once more, raining punches onto Nat’s face. For the most of the minute, Nat was unable to throw any punches. In minute two, Natalie let out a desperate cry and swung a strong right hook and caught Jamie in the jaw, sending her mouthpiece flying! Jamie’s down! Natalie leaned on the ropes for support as the official counted. Jamie got onto her fours and slowly to a hunch...8...9...10! Jamie couldn’t stand upright before the count of 10!

Official Decision: Natalie won the match via KO6!

After the match:
Natalie let out a sigh of relief. Deep down, she knew Jamie was the better boxer and she won by a combination of luck and brute strength. However, the fans were furious after seeing their favorite boxer lost. After Jamie got back to her senses, Natalie walked over and raised Jamie’s arm in the name of sportsmanship, which appeased the crowd a little.

“You are a very good boxer, you almost got me. I want to fight you again.” Nat complimented Jamie.

“Good god, what kind of muscles are you packing? You hit like a truck!” Jamie responded as the officials separated them and tended to their injuries.
