BEFORE: "I haven't decided who should get my first defence," Amanda says of this non-title effort against Becky R. "All I know is I need rounds - I want to stay busy - and Becky's available. She doesn't have standing at the moment due to inactivity, but she's certainly got pedigree: you can put Becky's record up against anyone's in the division, so I know I'll get good honest work out of her." Romijn training as though for a title-fight: she knows she can potentially jump the cue with an upset win in a dangerous stay-busy situation for Amanda. "I'm neither afraid of, or impressed by Amanda Righetti," usually courteous Romijn tells press-row in clipped tones. "She's been feeding off used up has-beens like Gena Lee Nolin while prime-time fighters like me have been on the shelf. I've fought - and beaten - some of the best, most confident celebrities in the world. I've had Charlize Theron at my mercy. I've hammered the likes of Cindy Crawford and Katherine Heigl into submission, and I took a title away from Liz Hurley. So when you look at me and Amanda side by side, and you ask me, 'have you paid your dues'? I say buddy: 'the cheque is in the mail!'" Non-sequitr a bit of a head-scratcher, but reporters dutifully recording the soundbyte regardless.

Amanda in purple sport top; black stretchy-tight dance shorts (boy leg); black gloves; smooth, long redhead ponytail. Rebecca in orange sport top; green velvet sport bikini bottoms with draw-string waistband; orange gloves; blonde curls in perky ponytail, ringlets framing face.

During R1: Girls tucking chins, holding right hands at cheeks - each double-pumping the jab to locate the other's chest early. Rigs looking to weave-close, take away Becky's height and work: redhead in tight formation, deploying both hands CHUP! CHUP! to Becky's flanks. Tall blonde keeping elbows in, looking to walk Amanda's chest into tidy left hooks, then take a step back to create a gap which she hopes to fill with right hands. Steady Righetti pressure - good weaving head movement prevents her from taking any huge jolts...but it's sound ring management from Becky - little step-outs; stiff, constant jabbing; blunt right hands and educated clockwise pivots yielding blonde points in a close first.

R2: Amanda keeping tempo high - weaving torso movement; stubby approach jabs...then she's looking to mine Becky's ribcage for nuggets of quit. Becky having trouble disengaging this round - Big Rigs fighting off Romijn's chest consistently - walking blonde girl around. Righetti keeping mitts at mouth/elbows in when she's not getting off - ripping and digging at Becky's ribs and flanks. Particularly effective for Amanda: shoving, short right hand in under Becky's left breast in tight; hatchet chop little right hands atop Becky's left hip. Becky in slow, steady retreat - Amanda walking Beck to ropes, pulling her arms down, working on her just like they drew it up on Bonzo blackboards.

R3: More pressure from Amanda...Becky retreating, but trying to turn at the ropes - executing clockwise pivots even as Amanda's boring in. Beck riding heel of her left hand inside Amanda's right shoulder when girls are scrubbing tousles: Beck able to push Righetti back by extending the left, simultaneously measuring her for ramrod right! Booming contact on Amanda's jaw has crowd oohing and ahhing...Amanda's legs sponge up the sporadic wallop in good shape, sustaining redhead attack for more points.

R4: Amanda walks Rebecca to ropes, lays siege: redhead fighting off blonde chest, pawing at her arms; hacking and chopping at either flank; clubbing stocky about head-and-shoulders. Rebecca grumpy, frazzled...her head's snapping to either side after short, spicy clout, and her body's all thick and sullen as Amanda's mitts bounce off meat. Becky: right under her chin/left across her gut, or riding inside Amanda's right shoulder in close. Thick, single-shot clout coming from Becky off the ropes: the odd muscular hook or clipping left uppercut...mostly she's just laying on ropes, absorbing punishment, getting pushed upon. Down the stretch, Big Becky leans into Amanda, pushing her back with left hand on right shoulder and REAMING her the right cross! Popping blast unhinges champ's knees and AMANDA'S WOBBLY BUTT! Becky a smart old pro: left hand curls in behind stunned Amanda's head, pulling her forward; brawny right uppercut bashes Amanda's mouth, picking her face up drowsy. Righetti's hands pushing at Becky's tummy: blonde girl able to hold-and-hit a thumping right hand in behind Amanda's left elbow before ref's break. Bruising eye contact, Becky to Amanda: champ blinking, shaking off the harm.

R5: BOOM! Girls pushing and mauling in close...Becky pushes out with the left on Amanda's right shoulder, then pours home the right to chin: Righetti gobsmacked, tipping forward as crowd squeals in shock. Right uppercut clips Amanda's head - swiveling her face up and around with eyes closed, lips pursed in wonder. Left hook clocks Amanda's chin aside - Becky with a Bo Riddick delivery in close, keeping elbow in at her hip and just swatting Amanda across the face. Slow, stepping, clockwise rotation from Becky as she stays close (but not smothering), feeding Rigs a steady diet of right uppercuts/left hooks nice and tidy, followed by shoveling right hands deep to gut. Amanda beaten ragged as she turns and turns - she's stooping forward in earmuff or crossed arm, reacting later and later as Becky bangs away. Bell: Righetti proves her mettle yet again, soaking up blonde icon's brawniest wallops in a big Romijn fifth!

R6: Amanda freakishly resilient: she's right back atop Becky at the ropes, giving blonde girl a good sweating. Nothing fancy from Righetti: strong, sturdy stance anchors her in top position; short, chopping punches hack and smite at Becky's ribs/pecs/waist; any sign of wilt from Becky and Amanda clubs away at the head - keeping shots short, bringing mitts back quick. Becky getting clobbered, looking grouchy and thick against the ropes...she'll lean forward with left shoulder in Amanda's chest at times to push her off, then sag back into ropes as Righetti storms back into position. Bell to bell redhead outworking blonde - Righetti thumping home an insurance left to the trunkline just at bell. Becky cringing, wincing upon receipt: Amanda reports to her trainer during the break: "her gut is sweet."

r7: Same again - Righetti quickly muscling Rebecca to ropes, then processing her: Romijn sullen as she's beaten without mercy - trying to fit in the odd muscular receipt in between Amanda's hack-fest. Righetti beginning to place short, shoving right hands to the pit of Becky's paunch in close - and getting back to the right hand heart-punches as well...Rebecca's mouth wide open this round, eyes hooded as Amanda pours on the leather.

R8: Becky more pre-emptive with that jab - manages to station herself midring - stick Amanda on the way in, and channel her onto the short right uppercut. Left hand inside Amanda's right shoulder helps manage her - Becky leaning on redhead, pushing her out, then feeding the ropey right cross: Amanda starting to catch regular clout, growing a little sluggish as a result. Rigs still determined to push forward: Becky simply managing it better - getting off first, sidestepping to her left, then inviting Amanda to play the same game all over again. Bell: THICK left hook cuffs at Amanda's paunch...little bit of belly payback as blonde girl stares down the champ while ref edges in.

R9: Amanda shrugs off all harm, recharges during the break, and surges across with first-round energy in the ninth. Becky's eyes betray her: she's exhausted, SO disappointed that Amanda's still fresh...big blonde sluggish as she's walked to ropes. Amanda strong on her blonde - clouting Becky across the waistline right/left - then propping her up the extended left forearm. More bashing, hacking work from Amanda...Becky covering up earmuff, slumping butt-in-ropes...punishment starting to flow all one way as big blonde girl just sits and soaks. It's all too much: Amanda in her zone - feet planted, just REEFING punches in behind either blonde elbow, or digging up underneath. Becky sponging and sponging while drooping forward...she eventually starts drooping all the way as Righetti sustains a thumping tempo. Blonde girl out on her feet as she noses-in: KO9 in hard-working fashion, Amanda Righetti.

After: Champ forced to take a few deep breaths by a quality blonde tonight: Amanda scuffed but upbeat for in-ring post-fight. "Just what I was hoping for," Rigs grins. "Becky came to fight - came to win: I had to get in there and beat it out of her. I worked a little closer than usual, because you don't want Becky extending on right hands like she did a few times there: when got her punch, she hurt me - you have to respect Becky's power. Overall though, it was about me shutting off her power, beating her core - all the things we preach in camp. Hard work: that's the ticket!"
