VIX: Clash in the Clouds @ The Detroit Olympia (October 17)

1. Alyssa Lynch vs Caroline Kelley

Alyssa:

Caroline:
(24, 5’8, 1:3 FCBA, Free Agent)

BEFORE:
“Not sure why Alyssa’s team contacted me, but I’m not complaining,” Caroline says with a smile to reporters, the long-haired blonde looking sultry in a blue-white floral bikini by the ring. “I’m certain it’s got something to do with a certain girl we BOTH hate, but just because we share a common enemy doesn’t mean I’m going easy on her tonight.”

On the other side of the apron, Alyssa’s being interviewed by reporters herself. The Vixen is dressed in a white sports bra with black streaks across, a black bikini bottom for mobility.

“I hear what Kelley’s saying. To be honest, the girl deserves more credit as a fighter, and that’s why I wanted to give her another opportunity to showcase her skills in the ring. Make no mistake though: I’m still knocking her lights out by the end of ten rounds. The agents can come knocking on her door after!”

Ladies square off in the center as we kick-start this VIX event with ten rounds of Bantamweight action. Alyssa of course traditionally fights as a Bantamweight darling, whereas Caroline’s slender and lean body means she usually faces off against more Lightweight opponents. But that hasn’t troubled either girl in the past in their quest for more fights and challenges. Referee rings the bell and Alyssa’s red gloves bang together with Caroline’s white. HERE we go!

ROUND 1:
Bangs and swings as these two go at it at the opening bell! Alyssa and Caroline practically leap forward and start swinging at each other hard, both girls eager to prove each other wrong as they score stiff blows to the face in tandem, taking turns turning the face to the side with loud grunts before Alyssa breaks tradition and criss-crosses her head in an excellent evasive manoeuvre, before bangin’ a right hand into the base of the chin, stunning Caroline backwards! Caroline grunts as she weathers the onslaught for the rest of the round, but it’s clear these two secretly don’t like each other as they open this VIX event with a blast! 

ROUND 2:
Back to the grind and neither girl seems to want to play it safe as they clash in the middle of the ring once more: Caroline first to strike, sticking a quick right hand past the guard and straight into Alyssa’s nose, making the Vixen grunt out loud but then quickly fire back herself, banging a hard right hook into the side of Kelley’s head, each fighter trying to beat the living snot out of the other. They stay in close quarters range, partial guard up while the other arm swings hard and fast, Alyssa going for more uppercuts aimed at the chin but Kelley wiser this round, her arms taking the brunt of the impacts and firing well-placed shots across the brunette’s face. It’s set to be another fair round till Lynch eats a third hook into the cheek, which sends her stumbling off a couple of steps in shock - it’s more than enough time and room for the blonde challenger to give chase, peppering the body and arms with jabs as Alyssa loses out this time by a small margin.

ROUND 3:
These two girls have not faced off before, the only encounters being backstage back when they were competing for a chance to face hated nemesis Alexis Ren. Now, we’re waxing nostalgic as they continue the action by tearing into each other, this round dominated by throbbing body shots sent both ways with both fighters getting tired of trying to break the arms or aim for the head, instead swinging their elbows in low and tight, fists smacking into tummy or ribs whenever possible. Lynch refuses to back away even after a low uppercut cuts into her belly and bends her over - the Vixen was anticipating the attack and simultaneously goes for a tight hook of her own up high, which catches a shocked Caroline clean on the face with an UNGH!! Caroline stunned, barely blocks another swing aimed at her chin before the blonde gets sent on the retreat! Alyssa’s turn to chase after her foe, straight lefts and rights bangin’ into the tummy in turn until the bell saves the taller blonde from a potential knockdown! 

ROUND 4:
Back and forth we go and the fourth round is no exception! Caroline finally decides to play it defensively, scooting away at a distance and prodding Alyssa’s face with her long jab whenever the Vixen tries to rush at her. This is how most fights go, folks, as Alyssa’s aggression finally comes back to bite her on the nose, lips and cheek, till she’s had enough and copies her dance partner’s moves. They spend the final minute circling each other and throwing combos at the arms, occasionally tagging the face but the damage wrought is a far cry compared to those previous rounds. Still, both girls look a little less tired by the end, with Alyssa having to concede it wide to her opponent in what’s shaping up to be an even-handed fight!

ROUND 5:
Caroline’s found her winning strategy so far and decides to stick with it, keeping her back moving along the extent of the ropes as she targets Alyssa’s face from afar using her slight reach advantage. Lynch of course more cautious as well, making small advances and only firing combos when she’s sure they’ll land clean. Kelley’s getting beaten in this manner: her jabs mainly peppering the brunette’s arms and not scoring on anything significant, whereas her face is taking plenty of punishment as Alyssa fires in a straight cross as a counter move each time. Kelley lets out another painful grunt as one of Alyssa’s fists catches her clean on the lips, which throws her head back and back into the ropes itself. Time for Lyssa to pounce, the Vixen jumping in and punting the blonde’s head back with another two-strike uppercut combo, then a third hooking BLAST twists her head to the side, and DOWN CAROLINE GOES!! Strings cut just like that as her legs fail and Kelley falls to her side by the ropes, barely lifting her head throughout the rest of the ten-count! It’s over!!

Official Decision: Alyssa Lynch defeats Caroline Kelley via KO5!

AFTER:
Some mutual respect shown post-fight as Alyssa tries to help Caroline back up to her shaky feet. But Kelley looks crestfallen the entire way, hesitates for a moment before deciding to take the brunette’s hand. The two girls share a brief hug on the ropes, no smiles there but plenty of mutual respect at the end of the day, before breaking the festivities and Lynch returning to corner to congratulations from Co-Head Trainer Corey Saucier, who plants a kiss on her cheek for a job well done.
