Before: Bitterest model rivalry since Tiegs/Brinkley--Banks the boxer puncher, Campbell the irrepressible brawler with a penchant for cheapness in the ring. Fight sells itself. Promoters just lay back and rake in the cash. Ads for the fight run in Vogue, Cosmo in addition to the usual fight outlets. Banks in black push up, leopard print bikini bottoms, Campbell in black push up, tiger print bikini.

R1-3: Nightmarish opening rounds for Tyra banks leaves her a battered wreck after 9 minutes of assault from Campbell. In the first, Naomi busts Tyra with overhand rights and has the SI champ almost out. In the second, Campbell goes to work with sawing lefts and rights from side to side, bashing the body and head of Tyra as Banks crumbles to the ropes. In the third, Naomi cracks Tyra’s eyebrow with the elbow strike and scrubs the wound raw with her laces in vicious clinches. Banks pouting, looking hurt and confused, bitching to the ref--doing everything but fighting early as Campbell dominates.

R4: Banks with a pawing jab to Naomi’s bottom lip, sets up spearing right crosses midway through, smacking Campbell’s head back as Naomi  hands lie in her waist.

R5: Naomi puts down the rebellion again, measuring Banks with an extended left, then leaning her long body into those whipping rights to the head to batter Banks into a punch drunk wobble. Banks absorbing tremendous punishment, staggers straight back with a “How can you do this to me?” expression, while Naomi wades forward from a wide stance, swinging wide lefts and rights home. Banks helpless at the bell as Naomi catches her with an uppercut elbow on the solar plexus.

R6: Round goes down as a draw as the fight devolves into a series of messy clinches. Naomi trying to break Tyra’s arm at the elbow,  Banks headlocking Campbell--both girls tackling one another to the canvas several times--round scored a draw.

R7: Naomi outworking Tyra, and continuing to beat banks ragged with swinging lefts and rights from the hips. Naomi n a pumping rhythm with her punches, Banks standing straight up, hands low, taking punches as Campbell can’t seem to miss.

R8: Naomi opens with three straight measured right to the face and jaw of Banks, finally depositing the nubile brunette on her back in a neutral corner, Campbell refuses to back off, taunting and begging Banks to continue. Tyra reeling--the ref pushing Campbell back as chaos reigns. Banks finally clambers the ropes to her feet with a gutshot look on her face, and Naomi  walks in like a hungry cat. All Naomi to the bell as she sweeps her fists across Tyra’s shiny body, hurting Banks to the rib cage, then clubbing her lower back as the girls leans forward over her legs.

R9: Tyra landing some exhausted , but effective uppercuts in between Naomi’s swinging lefts and rights, busts Campbell up, and has Naomi wobbly-butt midway through the round. Tyra finishes up with dragging combinations, speed bagging Campbell’s face as Naomi tries to clinch.

R10: Naomi lifting the jab off her hip, paws at Tyra’s breasts and tummy, then launches over the top with looping right hands as Banks can no longer see the incoming, Tyra  pushing punches back with weak, long limbs, is a pathetic sight as she just tries to go the distance. Fight ends with Naomi stepping around Tyra, keeping the left hand extend and on Banks’ face as time expire. Unanimous Duke for Campbell--she walks a stunned and swollen-faced Tyra Banks meekly around the ring in the traditional supermodel’s trophy walk.

After: banks failing yet again to put her foot down, takes another tremendous beating from Naomi, Campbell gregarious in post fight, claims, “I put the Super in supermodel baby!” Hard to argue from this performance, which saw Naomi bang effectively, and foul efficiently to scorch Tyra through 10.
