STUDIO 122 TITLE

Before: The often abrasive Luner nothing but complimentary towards Dani for giving her the title shot. Most wouldn’t have the courage, and the champ certainly an underdog given Luner’s lofty achievement in the past. Luner with every conceivable physical advantage, but the off critic points out that Dani might be mentally tougher. Odds are, she’ll have to be. Fishel in light blue sports bra, grey aerobics bottoms, Luner in navy sports bra, light blue aerobics bottoms.

During R1: Dani holds her own most of the round, staying low, bobbing under Jami’s jabs and leaping ion behind looping rights or lefts. Jami able to scoop the points with some deft pivoting around a nifty little hook in the final minute.

R2: Luner with a Diego Corrales look, hands low, footwork sweet, backhanding the let jab dropping right hands onto Dani’s face from the hip and swatting a quick hook to the jaw that allows her to step left while Dani soaks it up. Midway through the round, Jami lands a harsh one-two from her hip, and Dani sprawls backwards several steps, falling into the ropes wih a dazed expression. Luner patient on follow up, stepping in and out, trying to end Dani’s night with biting uppercuts.

R3: Another shutout for Luner as her hand and foot speed clearly outclasses the determined champ. Luner pecking with the jab, turning into sharp right hands, has Dani’s head jerking back as Fishel continues to mount attacks without success. Down the stretch, Luner with a spanking shoe shine lands half a dozen lefts and rights punching in a short side to side motion, and Dani stumbles to all fours at the bell.

R4: Third shutout in a row for Jami as she mixes in lead right hands to set up slicing left hooks that clip in under Dani’s chin. Fishel starting to bust u as Jami is finding her with an alarming connect percentage at this point.

R5: Good round for Dani as she finds Jami hittable with the odd looping right, but Luner still  dictating tempo--fighting when she wants to fight, moving when she wants to move. Dani can’t square up to flurry, and Luner’s biting hooks and crisp right hands are starting to wear Fishel out.

R6: Dani with a strong start, manages to force her way to Jami’s hips, chugging sharp lefts and rights across Luner’s rock hard midsection  briefly before Big Red can leg on out. Jami circling behind the backhand jab, is content to keep Dani at a distance in a closer round.

R7; Dani mounting a desperate charge, stings Jami with a lunging right hand that has Luner leaning back, Jami misjudges distance and Dani’s follow-up left hook makes things interesting as she CLOCKS Luner’s head to the side, Jami going wobbly butt, seems stunned to have been hurt, and fades to the ropes, Vicious exchanges along the perimeter if the ring as Luner counters with desperate swatting lefts and right uppercuts off the ropes to spurn Dani’s advances. Jami fights her way off the ropes, but the final  minute, another leaping right hand spanks out her mouthpiece, leaving her dazed as Dani cudgels a two-fisted attack in between her hips, Jami reached dreamily for Dani to clinch, cringes and winces as Dani touches up her abs and at the bell, Luner wanders to her corner for a serious pep talk.

R8: SHUTOUT DANI! Fishel mounting an improbable come-back, traps Luner in her own corner, tackling the much taller girls and shoulder into the turnbuckles. Fishel with good old fashioned shove and slug pushes Jami’s hips back, then drives in with calves straining--PITCHING  rights and lefts into the chiseled body of the challenger Jami reduced to grabbing Dani behind the head, clinching for breaks, and pushing Fishel back, but Dani does a great job of keeping Luner in the corner from bell to bell.

R9: Jami re-asserts the jab, and soon has slicing right crosses following to once again keep Dani outside. Luner pivoting around that tight little hook begins to break Dani down, and midway through the round, a sharp double left hook on the jaw has Dani in trouble. A single jarring right hand on the lips puts Dani straight back on her butt, where she sits blinking for a moment with gloves out front of her compact form. Dani beats the count, but she’s getting picked apart as Jami uses up the last of her opponent’s reserves.

R10: Luner stalks Dani with a low left hand whipping Roy Jones type hooks over and over to batter Fishel back to the ropes, moving as she punches, Luner is lethal, whip-action punches crashing hard against Dani’s face and skull. Fishel tries to bob underneath and catches a splattering left hand on her face which has her out and hurting. Luner with a quick sidearm right on the jaw, finishes Dani with another cruel left as Fishel drops through the ropes to land on the apron--nearly falling onto monitors and press table ringside. KO1 Jami Luner as Dani is removed via stretcher.

After: A savagely effective performance from Jami Luner removes any doubt that she might be past her prime as she leave Dani horribly beaten after 10 grueling rounds of boxing. Fishel with a stirring mid-but comeback came within a hairs breath of pulling off the biggest upset of her career, but taking the chance to win cost her dearly. Dani goes out on her shield, refusing to leave anything in the ring as Luner ascends the throne once again. Tracy Scoggins in the ring afterwards, actually challenges Luner on camera as Jami’s handlers cagily refusing to promise anything.
