3. Lily Collins vs Emeraude Toubia (Flyweight)

Lily:

Emeraude:
(30, 5’5, FCBA Debut, Free Agent)

BEFORE:
Not many know who Emeraude Toubia is but all one needs to know is that she’s the newest addition to the Shadowhunter universe that kickstarted Lily Collins’ career in the United States, making the Brit a household name amongst The Mortal Instrument fans. Lily of course having already beaten her co-star Katherine McNamara in a fight that lasted five rounds, so how will the American actress fair against British pride a second time round?

“Hmph, all these copycat wannabe actresses don’t hold a candle to my original movie performance,” Lily saying with a sly smile early on during the press junket. First, it was Kat who wanted to upstage me. Now, I’ll prove I’m the better actress one more time by beating yet another American girl who wants to share the screen with me.”

“To be honest, I don’t see what Collins’ deal is. She seems to have some sort of vendetta against us Americans. Could it be that she’s simply JEALOUS that we’re getting all the roles that she was fired from? Or maybe it’s because, compared to us real actresses, she simply can’t compete, let alone carry a role long enough to matter.”

Some venom and personality in this rookie - no wonder she’s considered the anti-hero in the newest television show. Not like Lily cares, of course, almost lunging at her hair when the two meet at the podium for photographs. Good lord - Kate Beckinsale shaking her head in the thick of things, after having inherited this handful of misfits on the roster. Well, that’s what the newest member is here for anyways, trying to restrain Lily from making a fool of herself, teaching her some manners, one fellow Brit to the other.

In the ring later on, Lily is dressed in a white bra top and dark red maroon bikini briefs, donning black gloves on either hand. Emeraude wearing a much simpler white brassier and black bikini bottoms, red gloves to identify her. HERE we go with ten rounds of Flyweight action!

ROUND 1:
Early round sees shocking aggression from the newcomer, as Emeraude takes the fight to Lily whether she likes it or not. The American girl looks well-built for her height, and she’s using some of that extra muscle to great effect, rocking punches into Lily’s arms in the first minute. It may be a classic rookie mistake to go all-out in the first round, especially against an opponent as dangerous as Lily, but good golly does it seem to work, driving Collins backwards based on sheer tenacity alone. Lily forced to cover up and maintain a good working distance, only succeeding in landing jabs back into the other girl’s face as Toubia rushes in too quickly to root her out. Another big hook almost takes Lily’s head off and sends her scrambling to the side, face awash with sweat this early in the fight, very telling of the pressure she’s finding herself weathering thus far. Definitely not a great first round for the Vixen, we’ll say that!

ROUND 2:
Lily looks focused and ready to come back in the second, however, and hopefully salvage her honour. But Emeraude not making things easy, once again charging towards her and firing jabs at the face at a faster-than-light rate. Lily getting used however to the American’s style of punching, very reminiscent of the rookie hitting the bag at a gym as she fires her jabs forward at almost the exact same rhythm and speed, in almost exactly the same direction, just predictable enough for Lily to tilt her head slightly to one side, then BLAMM!! - a return shot that lands into Emeraude’s face as the American squeezes her eyes shut in a what-the-f*ck-just-happened kind of moment! That’s what happens when you square off against a veteran, folks! Toubia suddenly reeling backwards, hands flailing in the air, as Collins comes in hard to clean up! More stinging lefts and rights hitting the nose before Toubia remembers her training and covers up like she’s been taught, but her body taking a further licking as she’s driven backwards into her own corner and thereafter saved by the bell before Lily can put her down with more chopping hooks all over.

ROUND 3:
Girls meet in the center this time and it’s an all out war for dominance with both girls’ fists flying in opposite directions! Lily flicking jabs forward like the wind, and Emeraude taking them on the chin repeatedly like they mean nothing at all, and STILL managing to keep on swinging at the Brit! Lily almost with panic on her face as she realises she’s in deep trouble for rushing in danger close, especially when Emeraude starts whacking at her torso with a low hook, then another one that crashes into the side of her head! OUCH. Collins battered about, forced to cover up her head, but Emeraude’s nasty hooks just start landing clean on her tummy. American bullies the Brit girl back to the ropes, using her superior mass to pin her opponent down. Lily breathing hard, arms wrapped around the chest and the back of her neck in order to deny her more opportunities, but body getting beaten on like a drum as Toubia exerts total control! Referee thankfully breaks up the clinch and resets the girls at a safe distance. Lily however barely lucid as she makes a break for it, thoroughly spooked at the American’s power exerted on her in close quarters. She succeeds in landing a jab or two back into Toubia’s face, but overall, it’s another tough round that she’s ceded to the separatists.

ROUND 4:
What’s Lily’s strategy here? She’s fighting like a different beast, especially since her heydays of squaring off against the likes of Vanessa Hudgens and company. Here though, she’s struggling against a complete newcomer to the ring, as Emeraude again takes the fight hard to her corner, and Lily has to battle to keep away, barely punching back at the American throughout. If she’s thinking of playing the long game, then she needs to do a better job at containing Emeraude’s aggression. If not, Toubia simply rocking the smaller girl each time she gets in close, either with an errant hook to the arms or even a straight cross into the center guard - she’s packing enough power to put down any girl in her direct line of sight. Obviously though, this ain’t any other girl, with Lily using every trick in the book in order not to get blown off her feet and embarrassingly end up on the canvas. Collins starts to show signs of life in the third minute, slamming a double one-two hands clean into the nose, stunning Emeraude for a moment, but she ain’t taking this round either for herself by the time the buzzer sounds, letting it slip away once more.

ROUND 5:
Well, Emeraude’s certainly tiring after all that running after her foe. Most new girls think that just because they do some boxing-training in real life or at the gym, that they’re fully prepared for the big time show. What they don’t tell you is that boxing for fun is very different from the moment some other girl wants to take your head off or beat the living sh*t outta you - now that really saps your energy fast. Toubia breathing hard and no longer barreling forward with unbounded amounts of energy. This is the moment Collins was waiting for… the Vixen circling her prey like a shark waiting to stop its thrashing, before taking small bites out of its hide jabs to her head and body, in regular thump thump thumping fashion. Emeraude with a look of hatred as her cheek gets hit for the third time running, forcing her further into her shell. Lily still coming in, still cautious, especially when Emeraude starts jabbing back at her in desperation. Three minutes are up and what a turnaround round for Lily Collins, who finds herself back in control of this fight! Emeraude with a reddened nose as she heads back to corner in a daze, wondering how she can go another five rounds like this?

ROUND 6:
We’re wondering the same as well, even as Toubia’s already panting hard the moment she’s gotten up her stool! Round 6 and Collins wastes no time to amp up the pressure, skirting just out of reach of Emeraude’s hooks before slamming her fist over and over into the American’s face, each time drawing louder and louder gasps of pain and shock from Toubia’s rapidly depleting resolve! Fifth such jab into the lips is packing some power, and Emeraude almost loses her balance as the shot stumbles her back. Lily sailing in hard, fully prepared to finish - a right hook CRASHES into the brunette’s cheek in swift motion, knocking Emeraude off her feet as the rest of her body twists after that pretty head that’s been rotated to one side! DOWN EMERAUDE GOES in the first KNOCKDOWN of the evening!

It’s arrived a little late to the fight, but hey, a knockdown’s a knockdown, folks, and Lily’s already throwing up her hands to the cheers of the crowd, before making her way back to corner with a broad smile. The sly girl had probably planned this outcome from the very start, knowing that Toubia would try and wear her down early on. What Collins probably didn’t anticipate was the American getting back up to her feet at the count of 8! Good lord can this girl take a beating! Emeraude still shaky but both arms already out and hovering in front of her chest, as she sucks in deep breaths of air and nods when the ref asks her formally if she can continue.

We’re still left with two minutes on the clock, and Collins sure as hell not breaking a sweat as she comes in hot again, just like how her own opponent did in the very first rounds! Emeraude probably eating her own moves as she does her best to lock her guard firmly in place over her head, only to eat stiff blows to the stomach as Lily goes to work on her torso and forearms, mercilessly sapping her strength away one blow at at time. Third minute and for a moment, it looks as though Emeraude might just hang in there and make it all the way to the seventh round, but then another stray hook SMASHES into the side of her face, blowing her a couple of shaky steps down the extent of ropes. Lily following her case at every inch, growling some more at her stubbornness, before taking another hard swipe across the rapidly declining girl’s face, right until her arms start wavering madly out in front, making no move to either defend or punch back this time! REFEREE’S SEEN ENOUGH - he jumps in and waves the attack off!! This fight’s over!!

Official Decision: Lily Collins defeats Emeraude Toubia via TKO6!

AFTER:
Well, I guess that dominance in the ring doesn’t always have to take the form of number of knockdowns or fastest knockout achieved. Lily Collins coming into this fight with a superior strategy of wearing her opponent down, even though it wasn’t always clear from the start. The Vixen now parading around all four corners of the ring with two hands in the air, palms wide open and gesturing to herself, as though daring the audience members to look away from her own brilliance.

Emeraude being ignored completely by the Brit, whilst lying flat on the ground, having collapsed into the referee’s arms immediately after the bell rang. It was the right call to stop the fight there and then, with the American’s eyelids left fluttering in the wind, her mouth hanging open. We certainly hope she doesn’t beat herself up too badly after she manages a full recovery! She put on a brave fight and we hope to see her again in the future!
