BOXING ON THE BEACH

Before: Jenny a busy girl these days. A controversial but impressive 2nd round whack of durable Neve C, splashy BLONDE! Mag pictorial/interview “The Return of JMAC”, and talk of big lightweight names has McCarthy making the rounds, but Jenny’s realistic about the road ahead. “I’m rusty,” the blonde admits, “I don’t feel I’ve gotten back to where I should be and I’m just looking to get rounds, get a little exposure and be ready to make a move when the time comes.” Armitage a solid enough pug to get work on--good fighter but mired in sparring partner mentality and as McCarthy jokes in prefight, “Looks great taking a beating!” Boxing on the Beach carries the bout--sunny So. Cal, beach and bleachers set up--Pink with black sidewalls diving bikini for Alison, zipper top, mauve and pink swirl print underwire bikini Jenny.

During R1: Mac attacking early, trying to get the chopping right hand in around Alison’s guard to jaw--Armitage defending it well--results in stop and go action as girls fall io together, push off. Ali standing her ground, answering off the block--she’s placing a tough right hand in Jenny’s tanned gut, getting movement from the blonde as McCarthy remounts her attack. Crowd pleasing stuff, both girls going right at each other, struggling into each , trying to overwhelm the opponent--don’t have to be a rocket scientist to enjoy the sights, Winding down, girls lathered up and breathing hard--Mac with her hands at her waist, expecting the bell and Alison jumps in a shocking right hand on the eye. JENNY GOES DOWN! Mac imploding into her corner, suckered off her feet--Armitage pressing against the ref to take a look--bell sounds--it’s chaos-McCarthy essentially out, gets saved by the bell,  propped up on her stool and revived--Armitage exultant in her corner.

R2: Alison charges a shipwrecked blonde--Jenny sagging into the ropes with hooded eyes, bracing for the attack. Armitage brutal and simple I approach: body up close, hoist the short right uppercut to the tits, turn the short overhand right on the face. Over and over, over and under, beefy methodical work--McCarthy dazed, slumped in the strands, just a-soaking it up. Second minute, Jennie’s able to clinch, walk her girl off the ropes, get the break--blonde looks ramshackle, tired as she walks away, but willing herself to function. Armitage wading in--Mac fends her off with the jab, moving right, walking AA into the stick, Mac starting to potshot, bending into curling overhand, then ducking away to the left--she’s getting her legs back, doing some unexpected boxing as Armitage presses ineffectively. Alison the bull, just trying to gore the matador--Jenny hurt, but getting the touches, keeping the redhead off balance and down the stretch, mac lands a shaving lead right to startle, then a swinging left on the point of the chin to put Alison wobbly butt! Armitage’s legs bowing as she staggers backward--mac nice and compact, steps in smart, bangs in a short, pulverizing back right hand on the mouth to drop AA wide eyed at the ropes. Armitage flopping, erolling, trying to get off her butt and back, but it’s no go! KO2 Jenny McCarthy!

After: Mac reeling, but happy--she shakes off a virtual KO and comes back hard, adding to Alison’s lifelong tally of missed opportunities and broken dreams. Mac with the wild brawling reputation, but she showed that unexpected technical side in recovering from hurt--getting distance, walking Armitage into shots, and placing short, accurate punches to get AA out of there. Good effort--B.O,.B, said to be interested in Mac vs. O’Dell, Bridges, Brandi Roderick--HBO trying to pitch a Connelly rematch--life is good for the resurgent blonde.
