Before: Tactically simple fight--Jeanne wins if she can keep Liz off her body, and make Shue fight defensively. As long as Jeanne can dictate, make Liz react, she can outbox the former 20th Century fox champ. Suggestions that it might even be an easy outing for Tripplehorn irritate Shue, who promises to remind everyone of her greatness come fight night. Black 2 piece gymnastics suit for Liz, red for Jeanne. Small gloves for both.

During R1: Tripplehorn has the right ideas, but ex-gymnast Liz just too good this round. Cutting off the ring with quick feet, Liz bodies up on Jeanne early, walking the brunette back, and drawing her into a grinding body war inside. Tripplehorn turns her shoulders into some nice short uppe4rcuts to hold her own early, but eventually, the stronger blonde maneuvers Jeanne to the corner and clubs away to the bell. Liz holds Jeanne in place with her left around the girl’s waist, holding the back of Tripplehorn’s trunks and leaning on the brunette in between punches to smother any movement Jeanne might have had in mind.

R2: Veteran gamesmanship continues as Liz step to the right to cut of the ring, bobs and weaves inside, then gets that left hand in between Jeanne to control the brunette’s movement. Snuggling her forehead in beneath Jeanne’s cheek. Liz able to pound away with right hands, holding and hitting as Tripplehorn can only club her blows in response. Liz has taken away all the movement, angles, and combinations that Jeanne needed and Tripplehorn knows she can’t win fighting this cloying, slogging style.

R3: Jeanne gets it together this round, complaining to the ref about Shue’s holding and getting some enforcement of the rules this round. Tripplehorn able to bounce left and right in front of Shue, starts to rev ujp the dormant jab, smacking it off Shue’s shiny brow with some efficiency this round, Hooking off the jab in the final minute, Jeanne lands some satisfying potshots in behind Liz’s elbow, making an investment in Shue’s ribcage that should pay off in late rounds.

R4: All Tripplehorn as she pumps the jab, mixes in hooks to the body off it, then  settles into 3 punch combinations before skipping away to re-set. Liz becomes a chaser, walking into Tripplehorn’s traps taking 23 and 3 punches and missing in response as the nimble brunette goes into high gear. Paint job shutout for Jeanne as she pulls even on the cards this round.

R5: Liz goes back to bullying, walking through the jab, boding up and pushing Tripplehorn back, With Jeanne’s back to the corner, Liz’s grip on the trunks is well disguised, and the illegal mugging proceeds as Tripplehorn covers up. Badly abused for 2 minutes, Jeanne is completely defensive, covering up and drawing her elbows in , and Elisabeth starts to open up. Slugging to the flanks with both hands, Shue puts her backside Into crushing body shots that soon have Jeanne mewling with pain. Liz turns her left shoulder into short uppercuts, crushing the fist off Jeanne’s face with a jerking movement then going back downstairs to bounce  leather off beef to keep Tripplehorn hurt. With under a minute left, a withering left hook in behind the elbow seems to break Tripplehorn’s spirit as her guard comes apart, and Liz turns it up. A pounding right to the chin, a crisp left back the other way, and Jeanne slumps out of the corner, off Liz’s shoulder and down to the canvas on her face. Lights out Jeanne t as Elisabeth Shue scores a devastating 5th round KO!

After: Battle of the fight plans won hands down by cagey veteran Liz, who manages to de-rail the slick boxer with power and cheating. In response to Jeanne’s bitter post fight complaints, Shue calls Tripplehorn: “Just another crybaby, winnable. I saw nothing special in there tonight.”
