(Results: Lookout!, Words: Caspian)

1. Katherine McNamara vs. Emma Watson (Flyweight)

Katherine:

(23, 5’4, 3:2 FCBA, Fates Boxing)

Emma:
(28, 5’6, 27:21 FCBA, VIXENs)

BEFORE:

Newly crowned Flyweight champion, Emma Watson not deeming her opponent worthy enough to confer a title shot, an affront that Katherine McNamara continues to come back to over and over again during her stint at the press conference.

"Is she the Flyweight champ or isn't she? If that's who I'm fighting tonight, shouldn’t the freakin’ title be up for grabs? I just don't get it," McNamara says. "The only other plausible explanation is that the new champion’s running scared of me."

"Oh, dearie, you wish," Emma rolling her eyes from the other end of the table, the incredulity of Kat's statement breaking her sweet-girl image. "You're not getting a title shot tonight because you're simply not good enough. It’s as simple as ABC - something you yanks don’t seem to understand."

Watson gives her title a little pat, strapped over her shoulder, and we can't help but wonder if capturing the belt barely two weeks ago has made Ms Watson a little nastier than usual. Staredown at the podium is heavy and intense, both ladies glaring holes into each other’s face as Katherine’s eyes continue to dart towards the glittering gold on the champion’s shoulder.

Later, in the ring, Emma making ready in corner: last minute stretches in a navy blue sports bra and black boxing trunks, strapping on red gloves for that overall British effect. Katherine's hair golden orange and blazing like the sun, wearing a black sports bra and yellow trunks, flaming-patterned leather gloves for emphasis.

This here's the first match in another brand new stable war, and a fitting one at that, with McNamara recently coming off a win over dangerous Ashley Benson - she's certainly come a long way since getting picked apart by Lily Collins in the VIX arena back in 2018. Referee waves his hand and HERE we go with ten rounds of Flyweight action!

ROUND 1:
Katherine surprising the champion with a full-blown rush forward, shocking Emma with a right hand to the middle of her arms. Emma taken aback by her sudden aggression, covers up and scrambles, with McNamara landing more blows to the side of the head. Watson still refusing to let herself get trapped in one spot like some rookie, starts bashing the redhead in the chin with snap jabs shot in between, dazing the challenger repeatedly. McNamara yelping but still swinging away, manages to catch Emma on the cheek mid-swing, stray hook torquing the head hard to one side! Ouch! The champion goes stumbling, outworked and overpowered by this ‘relative rookie’ as she’s hounded some more with Katherine’s jabs all the way to the bell.

ROUND 2:
Emma feeling embarrassed, cheeks a little flushed as she starts the round this time looking much more focused, those bushy eyebrows of hers furrowed in concentration as she prepares for another onslaught. Katherine following the success of her first round, rushes forward with the same speed and energy. This time, however, Emma ready for her, absorbs a couple jabs to the arms, then SLAPS the Katherine straight on the face with a right hook WHAPP! Katherine’s turn to let out a groan, upper torso whipped to the side as Emma continues to shock swings into her guard. Katherine in retreat early, and Watson is showing newfound aggression of her own, rare enough for the sweet natured, counter-punching wunderkind. Tell that to Katherine McNamara, however, who’s forced to cover up, unprepared herself for the punishment dished the other way just a few minutes ago.

ROUND 3:
This is certainly uncharacteristic for either woman, who really must not like each other. They clash in the center, taking turns strapping hooks into the raised arms, throwing each other about with mutual grunts. Emma not used to throwing down toe-to-toe with an opponent, gets careless in the pocket and eats another side-hook to the face, followed by a snap uppercut landing on the base of chin. Watson stunned, eyes squeezed shut, trying to stay in there as long as she can. Katherine not showing her any quarter, however, bashes another one-two quick hands to the nostrils as she again pushes the champion back towards her own corner. McNamara showing the entire league that she can hang and bang with championship material, chases Watson all the way to the bell with jabs and tons of points for her corner!

ROUND 4:
Not a good look for Watson, who’s getting outworked by her opponent with much less ring experience than herself. We certainly hope it’s not winning the belt that’s made her complacent so fast. Fourth round, however, is no different, with Kat breaking out of corner and barreling into Emma early on, making the Vixen grunt as the two girls CRASH backwards into the ropes. Watson getting manhandled, Katherine burying a right hand into her belly, then tries battering her on the arms left and right. Emma more shocked than anything, tries to use her superior height to control her opponent in the clinch, but as she shoves McNamara’s shoulders backwards, can’t help but TAKE another swing up into the chin, knocking her head back senseless! Katherine relentless, continues swinging away, SCORES another clean hook into Emma’s face, sending the champion sprawling off balance before collapsing back down to the floor! Holy hell! The newcomer scores a KNOCKDOWN on the Flyweight champion herself! Emma sputtering on her chest, can’t believe she’s the one crawling at Katherine’s feet. McNamara looking smug as she struts back to corner, surely beating herself up at this point for not insisting that Watson’s title be put on the line. Emma slowly recovering, very conscious of the referee counting her out from above, manages to get back to her feet by the count of 8. This fight continues!

ROUND 5:
McNamara using her remaining stamina to charge the champion, thinking Emma’s ready to kiss the canvas for good. Not so, with that embarrassing knockdown from last round actually making Watson even more focused and turtling up. She’s back to her usual counter-attacking mode, inviting Kat to rush in blind, jabbing wildly at her arms, before parrying the redhead’s attacks to the side then shocking Kat to the cheek, hurting her a little bit at a time. Kat doesn’t realise she’s getting rocked until mid-round, where she finally hangs back as well, arms covering her red cheeks. Emma tries to make up for those bad earlier rounds, stalks after her foe, but tasting return jabs to the face as Katherine keeps her guard up and shoots back. Both girls want to get in close to punish each other, and the back-and-forth action this round ends in a draw by our estimates.

ROUND 6:
Katherine finally running out of breath, stays in the periphery and tries to catch her breath. Emma sensing weakness, trying to stalk forward to fill in the gaps, succeeds in stunning Kat with a one-two combo to the lips, then slams a hook into her side, pushing McNamara backwards further. Katherine trying to hide but not doing a very good job of it, lets Emma pound shots to her body and then slam another cross straight to the middle of her arms. Katherine groaning, face grimacing in pain as she’s routed continuously, the combination of Emma’s attacks and her lack of stamina not doing her any favours. Emma’s turn to shove her foe back into the ropes this time, wicked payback as she slams a hook into the side of the head, stunning Katherine, before bunching her body in two with that right hand stuffed into the stomach repeatedly. Referee has to pull the champ off her quarry when the bell rings, Emma’s eyes still blazing with fury as she lets her emotions run wild.

ROUND 7:
Katherine hurt, still hugging her midsection as she rises from the stool. There’s a look of concern in her eyes for the first time in this fight, and that earlier, cocky dominance long gone from the way she’s taking small and gingerly steps forward. Emma with no such qualms, comes skirting out of corner and then stunning another cross straight to Kat’s forehead, and then another combo snaps Kat’s head backwards in pain. Katherine in full retreat, all she can do now is cover up and hope to survive the onslaught. But Emma staying with her, sticking more gloves into her nostrils, finally FLOORS her foe with a step-in swipe clean across the face, blowing Katherine off her feet and onto the ground!

KNOCKDOWN for the Flyweight champion, and none too soon, we’d say! Katherine’s eyelids fluttering, trying to get off her back as she reaches desperately for the ropes. Emma walking slowly back to her corner, dirty strawberry hair dishevelled and wavy over that knowing smirk. She watches Kat slowly rising, one knee at a time, gets back into a fighting stance when McNamara succeeds in recovering by the count of 9! But there’s still a minute and a half left on the clock! Katherine looking groggy, swaying, her back still glued to the ropes, panting hard. Emma with no mercy, resumes the punching blows right away with another rapid combo to the face, the majority of the British girl’s quick hands landing on the face unabated. Katherine groaning, her nose and cheeks getting bunched up repeatedly, arms knocked to one side, negating her defence, the rest of her body jerking from the impact of Watson shoving her gloves. Referee has seen enough, with McNamara not even fighting back at this point, jumps in to cover the redhead up. It’s all over!!

Official Decision: Emma Watson defeats Katherine McNamara via TKO7!

AFTER:

The Vixens TAKE this first match of the latest stable war, but what a grueling, Pyrrhic victory it’s been! Emma panting hard even as she celebrates, struts around the fallen McNamara, who collapsed onto her back the moment the referee saved her from more abuse. Emma certainly didn’t expect this match to last as long as it did, and it speaks too about Katherine’s ability to the distance and another potential challenger in the future.

Still, what’s most important is who’s left standing at the end of the day, and Watson’s hand is the one getting raised to the crowds by the end of ten rounds. Watson ignoring McNamara, staying lifeless on the ground, even as the Brit celebrates with a brief embrace with Co-Head Trainer Corey Saucier.

“She’s got some heart, I’ll give her that,” Emma says with a cheeky grin. “But she really shouldn’t try so hard. Kat tried to keep up with me and came up short, and that’s always gonna happen, no matter how many times we face-off in the ring. Haven’t I proven that she doesn’t deserve this gold?”
