BEFORE:
Alba continuing to defy the odds stacked against her, finding herself in the boxing ring over and over again despite the fact she's turning the wrong side of 30 this year, and having lost the past… what, ten fights consecutively?

"I still have a few surprises left up my sleeve," Jessica smiling at reporters backstage, her dirty strawberry blonde hair framing her still-handsome features. "I'm not going to let anyone dictate when I hang up my gloves. I get to decide on my own, thank you very much."

Wickersham doing her best to hide her amusement from across the table, snickering at Alba’s self-assuredness whilst covering her mouth with the back of her hand.

“I may have only fought one time in the ring, but even I know that Alba doesn’t belong here anymore. Sure, she was a legend in the days of yore, but tonight, I’m going to kick her butt so hard she’ll be begging to leave the arena.”

Tense staredown as Alba treats Emily to a cocky jerk of the chin upwards of her own, as though sizing her blonde foe up. Emily grinning back, confident hands on her hips, and they’re separated by the ring officials before the confrontation gets more heated.

Later, in the ring, Jessica’s looking toned and ready to roar in a black and white sports bra and tights, red gloves rounding off that classic look. Wickersham with her long hair braided out back, also stretching in a white sports bra and red boxing shorts. Referee waves for the bell and HERE we go with ten rounds of Bantamweight action!

ROUND 1:
Some test shots flying in both directions as both women want to prove that they can still bring the pain even at their respective ages. But their forward lunges not particularly accurate nor thought through, more intimidating than practical as they swish and flick at the head rather than actually landing anything significant for the first minute. Emily scoring with a stiff right hand that lands on Alba’s cheek, drawing a grunt from the veteran actress and a shout from the general public, but then, their follow-up blows are nonexistent as both ladies go back to dancing at range.

ROUND 2:
Action sorta picks up as both ladies get the same urging from their respective corners. Jessica suddenly aggressive as she dodges Emily’s attacks at an unbelievable speed, then unleashes with a flurry of jabs and hooks to the head. Emily getting battered on her arms and letting in a few straight jabs to her face, dazing her as she forces her own retreat backwards to recuperate. Alba with renewed confidence, stalking after her without hesitation, continues planting leather on the face and body till the round ends. Emily not used to this pain shooting through her nostrils needs to get familiar with the fact that punching bags can hit back in the real world.

ROUND 3:
Girls go back on the offensive and we suddenly get an ERUPTION of action in the middle of the ring: Emily and Jessica bashing hooks into the side-arms, exchanging deep grunts as they work to break down each other’s defences. Emily sacking the body mid-way, making Alba grunt and bend over in half. Wickerham still smiling as she pops another uppercut into Jessica’s undefended gut. once, twice, three times, folding her over in agony! Alba however clinches up forward before a fourth blow can land, surprises Wickersham with an upwards right hook that CATCHES the NCIS actress straight on the chin! OUCH!! Wickersham rocked badly, suddenly backing away, as both girls trade long jabs for the rest of the round, not eager to get in too close and personal.

ROUND 4:
Emily may be more suited for defensive counter-fighting, and she tries her hand at leading Alba around the ring, dodging her attacks and then shocking the bronzed lady back with precise jabs to the face. Alba absorbing this punishment a little bit at a time, like a frog swimming in water that’s slow to boil. Final straw is a left-right combo landing straight on Alba’s nose, followed by a bashing hook into her cheek. Alba’s face a mixture of shock and awe, hastily blocks the next swing that’s aimed to knock her out. Emily emboldened, rushing forward and swinging, and Alba covering up, backing down, head buried in her arms as she blocks, blocks, blocks, then UNLEASHES a sudden right cross right back that STUNS Emily to the middle of her arms!! Wickersham did NOT see that coming! Face disappears into leather as she lets out a stunned HGGGNGHH, powerless to stop the next left-right-TORQUE of double-hooks from Alba, which FLOORS her blonde rival down on her back!

KNOCKDOWN in the third minute, in definite comeback fashion for Jessica Alba! How about that! Emily’s tables turned 180 degrees as she blinks up at the arena lights, whilst Alba raises a confident arm into the air as she stumbles back to corner. Referee counting Emily out, the blonde forcing herself off her back and then slowly rising to her knees, recovering by 8. Good fighting spirit right there as she refuses to quit so easily.

ROUND 5:
Emily still shaking her head as the bell rings for the fifth, trying to empty the grogginess and focus. Alba biding her time, knows she’s in the lead after that spectacular comeback knockdown last round, warily blocks some early jabs from Emily before again trying to detonate an atomic bomb on her vulnerable chin. Wickersham flinching on instinct, head swerving back hard as Jessica makes her move. This kind of reactionary defence is not going to serve her well in the long run. Case in point: Alba feints a left hand, anticipates where and when Emily’s head will be moments later, before CONNECTING with her right hand to the face - Wickersham STUNNED one more time, blinking in shock as she backs away, face scrunched up as she desperately swats away more jabs from Alba. Jessica chasing after her, smelling blood, lands a TON of short and snappy jabs, before another right hook BLASTS the actress across the face… AND DOWN WICKERSHAM GOES!

Second knockdown of the night, and within two consecutive rounds! And this time, Emily is floored bad, her back glued to the canvas, head rolling from side to side! Referee hits the 10-count and it’s OVER!

Official Decision: Jessica Alba defeats Emily Wickersham via KO5!

AFTER:
Alba finding some measure of redemption as she takes out a fighter close to her age and of equal potential. Obviously, the win is not going to help or hurt her in the rankings that much, with Wickersham also seen as a rookie by all accounts, but more importantly, Alba stops her embarrassing losing streak that has plagued her for years now. She’s looking elated, arms shot into the air as she parades around the ring.

By contrast, Emily has to be helped out by medics and her team, those tough words spoken earlier remaining unbacked and unjustified. Too bad for the blonde, whose power moves still potent if she finds another footing in the ring in the future.
