Before: Crossroads bout as two women on separate tracks meet at a crucial junction. For Hurley, strong showings and a big KO over Darryl Hannah have her moving up everybody’s charts. As for Charlize, great outings followed by disastrous ones have everyone scratching their heads, and a crafty southpaw who can punch a little bit id not what you want to see when you’re fighting a slump. Liz shows plenty of distain for Charlize during the weigh in and pre-fight conference, and is the more confident fighter going in.

Beach volleyball two piece, black top and red bottoms for Liz, Teal two piece aerobics suits for Theron.

During R1: Charlize comes out with the textbook response to the southpaw challenge: lead foot outside Liz’s right hands up the middle, and Theron almost takes Liz’ head off with a crushing straight right to the chin to open the bout. Hurley reels straight back, legs badly wobbled as she tries to clear her senses. Theron stepping in, sets her feet, stuffs a jab into Hurley’s mouth, then pivots, hooking off the jab and Liz rolls back over her heels to take a seat! Hurley beats the count and covers up as Theron wades in, then begins to counter effectively, clipping Charlize with nice right hooks off the ropes, ducking low under Theron’s wide punches, then coming back with slinging left hands to the mouth. Suddenly, Theron’s legs give a shake, and she staggers back as Liz wades forward, now opening up with both hands to try for the early stoppage. Just as Hurley appears to have momentum, Charlize steps back and pounds a hard right off the sternum, left hook off the jaw to once again stagger Liz, and the two stand at center ring, clubbing one another with hard hooks to the bell. Charlize takes the sensational action round with the knockdown, and both women look a little shopworn in their corners.

R2: Liz more defensive, more effective this round, still feeling the effects of Charlize’s right hand bomb ion the first. Hurley content to step right, backhand slap the long body of the blonde with a cautious right, and stay out of range of Charlize’s hammer.

R3: Charlize comes out, steps left and bangs that straight right hard to the face of Hurley to open the round. Stunned once again, Liz staggers back, and clinches Charlize around the waist. Theron will not be denied—she shucks Liz with a push to the brunette’s shoulders, then bangs back Hurley’s head with a javelin-throw right to put Liz ropeside. Hurley, desperately hurt, eyes wide, looks to slip and counter off the ropes, but a pulverizing left hook to her side paralyzes the beautiful Brit. Theron makes no mistake, giving Liz a taste of shoulder, then pulling back to crack the brunette with a short right to the jaw, Lights out for Liz, as Hurley slides forward. Theron plays matador, stepping nicely to one side to allow Liz to fall dreamily to her face. Charlize struts as Hurley’s legs churn fitfully on the canvas, her cheek on the mat as though nailed there, while she flounders.

After: Hurley dismissed by crushing power from Theron, but nifty footwork from Charlize really the key. It’s another unpredictable showing for the blonde, who once again flashes a glimpse of championship form in easily handling this tough challenge.
