Leona wanted a test for her second fight, and she may have it here. At 36, Jewel is 11 years older than Leona, has a wealth of experience, and has been training really hard, showing respect for the British singer, but it’s been a while since she last fought. After saying that, if the American shows anything like her best form, she’ll have too much for Lewis.

Leona is kitted out in that red bra and pants set again, with Jewel in a black bikini.

Round 1

Leona starts well, confident and looking keen, and she has her left jab working nicely into Jewel’s face in the early exchanges, using her good physique to bully the older girl, but Jewel keeps Lewis on the move, cracking a flurry of punches into the Brit’s body, and that has her backing off. Leona keeping away from the ropes as far as she can, not wanting to trade with Jewel at this stage, her jabs keeping the American honest, but Lewis is taking a few to the ribs at the bell after being trapped on the ropes.

Tight – maybe Leona’s round.

Round 2

Leona comes out for the second looking good, fresh and keen, but she finds a more active Jewel this time around, and the American is focussing on hitting Leona’s ribs and midsection – she feels that Lewis can be hurt to the body, that she maybe needs to tone up a little more, and she’s hurting her – the Brit is slowing down as the round progresses, and she is finding this tough as Kilcher, head down, swaying, just keeps thudding those low hooks into the younger girl’s torso, and she has her whimpering by the bell.

Jewel takes that for sure.

Round 3

Jewel picks up where she left off in 2, working Leona to the mid-section, looking to get her back against those ropes, but the Brit is coming through this test nicely, keeping her elbows tucked in, defending herself well, then she gets those left jabs working at Jewel’s face again, and she manages to knock the older girl out of her stride, has her retreating, and Leona feels she can slug it out with Kilcher as the American fights back – the pair are swapping shots, but Jewel is hurting Leona just that little bit more as she starts to feel the pace, and the girl is looking around her for help as Kilcher muscles her into the ropes, then pours it on, hard, measured punches slipping through Lewis’s guard, leather smacking loudly against flesh, and a left hook puts Leona on her knees for 7, the Brit happy to take the count for a rest, then is able to see the round out.

Jewel takes the round, especially with the knockdown.

Round 4

Leona looks shabby as they resume, backing off as Jewel looks to get her hooks working to that aching bod again, and here comes the blonde, arms low, swinging in – but Leona isn’t quitting, and the younger girl bangs her left jab hard into Jewel’s unprotected face, then gets her with a right hook, and another! Kilcher is hurt, stumbling to the ropes, holding when Lewis reaches her, taking a breath as they are broken, paying for her arrogance there. The ref parts them, then they get back together, Leona’s jab finding Jewel’s face again, but the older girl gets back to her grafting posture, and she’s getting to the Brit again by the end of the round, hurting a tired Leona to the body.

Nothing in that round, but Leona did land a couple of good punches.

Round 5

This fight is tiring for both girls, but Leona has taken a lot of bodyshots, and she is starting to weaken, finding it harder and harder to keep the 36 year old Jewel at arm’s length, and she takes another right hook to the gut, and another – those gloves are dropping, and now Jewel starts on the Brit’s face, landing sharp left jabs, solid right crosses, and she’s now got the younger girl trapped in a neutral corner, offering little back as she picks her off, and as they end the round, a sorry-looking Leona shambles along the ropes, face bloodied and bruising.

No question about that round – Jewel!

Round 6

Ice packs have helped Leona between rounds, but there aren’t enough! Her body aches, her face is swelling, but the youngster bravely battles on, moving towards a bright eyed Jewel, who is sensing victory now, and she hits Leona good and hard to the body as they meet, in no hurry, just batting her gloves into that midriff, then almost pushing her to the ropes, she lands one, two, three uppercuts to the Brit’s proud boobs, jiggling them up and down, making Lewis sob and wail, her guard a shambles, Leona is just waving her gloves at Jewel, and the American tags her with a left to the mouth – that’s put Lewis down, sat on her ass by the ropes for an 8 count, but she gets up again, still in trouble, takes a left to the cheek, then a right to the jaw, her knees turning to jelly, and Jewel floors her again with a big left cross, Lewis on her back this time, saved by the bell after somehow getting up at 9.

Jewel takes that round, too, but does it matter?

Mentors Liz Hurley of BBU and her BBU America counterpart Victoria Beckham argue between rounds, with Liz calling, “C’mon referee! That’s enough! Stop this!” but Victoria, pouting as usual, eyes shiny with excitement, just purrs, “Shut up Liz! Let Jewel finish her! Time she took a lesson – I’m sick of her winning stuff!”

Round 7

Leona is hardly off her stool when Jewel is there, in her face, and she clubs her to the body with two mighty left hooks, bangs a stunning right into Lewis’s unguarded chin, then puts her away for keeps with a left to the temple, the British singer face down and out of it at her feet.

Jewel Kilcher knocked Leona Lewis out in round 7.

After the fight, Denise van Outen asks Jewel for her thoughts, “Yeah! Enjoyed myself out there tonight! The kid can punch, and has heart, but she needs to step up a long, long way before she’s allowed to fight another girl from my side of the ocean!” Denise suggests that Jewel needn’t have beaten Leona quite so badly in the sixth, “Listen, honey! She’ll have learned from that! Defend your entire body at all times, that’s my motto!”
