BEFORE:
Third time these two ladies have fought, with each of them winning a match each back in 2016 and 2017. Five years later, they’re back to settle the score.

“It’s time to strike all right,” Kyra says with a nod at the press conference earlier. “Candice recently fell to Luisa, and in the recent tradition of trading girls who have pissed us off in the past, I’m here to put Candice away for good.”

“Santoro can try, but she’ll fail like last time,” Candice says later on from the other end of the room. The Empire Boxing starlet hasn’t fought since her loss to Luisana Lopilato last year, which was her only fight for the entire twelve months. “I’ve been keeping active, however. In the gym working my ass off almost every single day. And I’m ready for round three.”

Candice’s seven years older but both girls are also different in terms of build, with Santoro packing on the muscle in recent months to differentiate herself from some other Bantamweights in the division. Ladies pose with clenched fists aimed at the other’s chin

Later, they’re all geared up and ready to rumble as well: Kyra in a black sports bra and white boxing trunks, waving to the crowds as she strides down the ramparts. She’s wielding a pair of yellow gloves for this contest. Candice has gone for an army green sports bra, black trunks and white gloves to contrast. She’s also sporting a smile as the official announces her name.

In the ring, the ref checks on their attire, and expounds the rules in the middle. Both ladies touch gloves in a mutual show of respect, so that’s a good sign for once. Once the fists start flying, however, it’s really anyone’s game. Wave of the hand and sound of the bell DING! and HERE WE GO with ten rounds of Bantamweight action!

ROUND 1:
Big girls stride in fast and confident now, arms pumped and heads a movin’. Candice is not afraid of getting in close and throwing hands with the younger, more powerful Santoro, and it shows! She launches a first flurry to the Vixen’s face, stunning her with her own speed, before wailing away on her arms with devastating hooks that make Kyra grunt out loud. Not often do we get a girl who can hang and bang with Santoro, but here, Candice’s ferocity is on full display, allowing her to get off a couple more bangers to stumble Santoro. But in the final few seconds, it’s Santoro who hammers back! Enough’s enough for the Vixen, who huffs and puffs and BLASTS an overhand hook right into the top of Candice’s forehead! OUCH! Only a few seconds left on the clock but Kyra’s making up for lost time, her chest heaving as she shoots in lefts and rights to the chin, before the referee quickly jumps in at the bell to stop the action! It’s NOT over, that’s for sure!

ROUND 2:
Kyra and Candice get right back into the thick of it! Hefty girls want a piece of each other and it shows: a mutual march inwards before taking mighty swings at each other’s heads and bodies. Candice’s earlier success seems ill-timed as she scores another hook off Kyra’s chin, but it doesn’t daze the bigger brunette this time - not as much, perhaps! Instead, Kyra storms into her repeatedly with a hail of swings, lefts and rights chugging into the body before going up top with a mighty uppercut or two to daze Accola bad. Candice regrouping near the end, chest heaving but eager to continue. She falls back on her jabbing skills as she picks Kyra off from afar with shots to her head. Santoro has no answer to this quick adjustment, with multiple grunts elicited from her lips as her lead quickly evaporates. Close round that can go either way!

ROUND 3:
Score to settle on both girls’ minds, and they both bounce forward at the bell, eager to finally determine who’s better. Candice with an early flurry to the chest and body, stunning Kyra somewhat, but more follow-up combos are intercepted by Santoro’s arms. Accola seems to be evolving her fight strategy, throwing in more fast punches rather than simply try and KO the Vixen with a mighty swing. Problem is Kyra has the opposite idea, ignoring the peppering of strikes to her frame before rushing forward with a double hook combo of her own. The first STUNS Candice to her arms but the second catches her clean on the cheek, SWIVELS that pretty blonde head to the side with a loud grunt. Candice is in trouble now, seeing stars as the Vixen marches her down, more lefts and rights just blasting into her body, chest and what’s left of her guard. Accola’s wavering by the ropes, mouth open and the rest of her body swaying in the wind! Santoro leaps in with another big combo that ends with an uppercut delivered to the jawline, and DOWN CANDICE GOES, her strings cut just like that!! Referee takes one look at the KO’ed blonde and waves his arms for the bell! It’s OVER!

AFTER:
Santoro jubilant, with a thunderous roar and upturned head to the crowds. She parades around the ring with both her hands high in the air, and it’s a small consolation prize indeed for the Vixen who hasn’t always had the best record. She kicks off 2022 with one hell of a KO victory over a past foe, however.

Ladies gracious in the post-fight event, with Accola getting helped to her feet by Santoro and the two fighters embracing for the cameras. This might have been the tie-breaker match, but it’s clear that both women intend to continue fighting in the ring for a long time to come!
