Nell Tiger Free vs Phoebe Dynevor

Nell:

Phoebe:
(26, 5’5, 0:2 FCBA, Global Boxing Syndicate)

BEFORE:
Our next fight sees two young Brits face off on American soil, with Nell Tiger Free looking fresh after her win against Stella Hudgens in December, and wanting to start the new year off with another. Her opponent, Phoebe Dynevor, has had more luck over in the BBU, but her recent losses to Chiara Nasti and Sasha Ghadie have left her wanting more.

“I did my best - that’s all anyone could say,” Phoebe says first, addressing the crowd in the press hall. “I know Nell’s been making some waves, but she’s not going to find me an easy foe. I’m eager to stick around, prove to my stable I belong.”

Nell nods along graciously from the other end of the table, before replying:

“It’s tough, sure. And it’s a long road to the top. The best you can do is enjoy the journey, win or lose. Phoebe’s a little older but it doesn’t mean she has to stop boxing. I’m eager to see how we fare against each other.”

Cordial show for once, with both blondes shaking hands later on stage, before being led off to the backstage area. Later on, in the ring, Phoebe is wearing a simple white sports top and similar coloured boxing trunks. She’s tightening red gloves on either hand. In the other corner, Nell has gone for a white sports bra with golden linings, white trunks and black gloves. She nods at Corey Saucier, who is the VIX wingman for tonight’s contest.

Referee calls the match to order, pointing in both directions and getting the nod from both lovely ladies, who get into their fighting stances. There’s the bell and HERE WE GO with ten rounds of Flyweight action!

ROUND 1:
It’s going to be interesting indeed to see one woman’s agility versus the other’s potential knockout power. The two blondes are of the same height but Nell’s packing more bulk in her frame, and all that toning and training in the gym has surely paid off. First minute sees them both trade jabs from afar, circling, looking for openings. Nell is looking to get in close to punish but Phoebe’s not letting her, the GBS starlet doing a good job of poking at the face or chest with her jabbing hand each time Nell tries to dip her shoulders and wade. Rest of the round sees similar action as Tiger Free soaks up damage to her face from the persistent failed attempts. Not a good start to your career indeed as Phoebe walks away with a wide round to her name.

ROUND 2:
A little more success from Nell this time as she chooses to trade jabs with her counterpart and earn a little payback. Instead of barreling in headfirst to brawl, Nell’s landing slightly more powerful shots to Phoebe’s arms, occasionally snagging the chin or forehead as Dynevor struggles to adapt. Phoebe’s also firing back with her own jab combos, make no mistake, but for a tit-for-tat situation, Nell’s doing more damage, crunching another right hand into the actress’ face, which momentarily makes her stumble backwards. So far, so good, and the Vixen evens out the score when the bell rings!

ROUND 3:
More of the same for the first minute, with neither girl’s personalities making them rush in brazenly to attack, unlike some of their counterparts in the FCBA. Second minute, however, sees Dynevor growing impatient - she can’t just stand still and absorb the punishment, and decides to try and find her way into Nell’s defences. Early on shows results, with Dynevor weaving her head around some of Nell’s attacks and then landing a hook or two into her arms or body, but Tiger Free soon gets wind of what she’s doing and capitalises: a right hook of her own is ready and waiting as Phoebe charged in next, which slams into the side of her head hard, and sends her reeling backwards. Two can play at this game, as Dynevor finds out the hard way. Overall, a good round for either girl but we’d still say that Tiger Free closes the round close.

ROUND 4:
Phoebe does her best to pick up the pacing, and for a while, it works. She uses her smaller bulk to run around the ring this time, trying to surprise Nell with jab and hook combos sailing in from multiple directions. Nell has a hard time trying to pin the spritely blonde down, and has to take small, deliberate steps forwards and pivot quickly whenever Dynevor makes a sudden side-step and launches an assault. Tiger Free grunts as the punches come in hard and fast to her head and body, peppering shots that she has trouble intercepting all at once. Dynevor herself, however, has to be wary of those counterattacks, with Nell taking the occasional swing wide at her head to blow her out of the water. One or two miss, but a third does manage to nail Phoebe on the face, which gives her serious pause whether this strat is worth it in the long run. Bell rings and both fighters are eager for the break. Dynevor took this round and effectively evened out the scoreboards. We’ll see who wants it more in the rounds to come!

ROUND 5:
Phoebe looks to continue her strat, at least for now, again rushing in fast to try and surprise the Vixen with a flurry to her head. Nell’s ready for her this time, however, calmly blocking with her arms before returning fire with a straight hand outta nowhere, that CLAPS Phoebe right on the nose! OUCH! Dynevor’s head gets snapped back with a uooofff and ouch, and just like that, her rapid assault has been blunted! Nell leads her back across the ring, confidently and calmly pounding away on the leaner blonde’s frame: right hook slammed into the arms, followed by another devastating combination to the body, as Dynevor gets rocked by a left-right hook to the ribcage before an uppercut takes her head off! DOWN THE BRIT GOES, falling back and hitting the ground with a loud THUD! It’s a KNOCKDOWN for Nell Tiger Free, and we’re all wondering if this could be it!?

Nell flashes a smile on her way back to the neutral corner, and Phoebe is slowly crawling her way back to her feet, the opposite expression on her face: one of narrowed eyebrows and tightened cheeks. She does make it up by the count of 8, but is still having trouble steadying herself on both feet. Regardless, she’s nodding to the referee that she wants to continue, even with two minutes still left on the clock for Nell to clean!

So be it! There’s the bell again and HERE COMES TIGER FREE, more focused glint in her eyes as she heads straight for the wounded blonde! Dynevor puts up a valiant resistance but her arms are quickly swatted out of the way. Then, she gets pushed back into the ropes, where Nell is given free reign to rock her face to the side, then pound away at her midsection! Finally, the referee has seen enough, right after another hook lands hard across the cheek, and Dynevor is left gasping into the ropes, both her hands clinging on for dear life! He jumps in to save her!! It’s OVER via TKO!

Official Decision: Nell Tiger Free defeats Phoebe Dynevor via TKO5!

AFTER:
“Good fight. Great actress,” Nell later says to reporters. “She had me worried at some points in there. I’d love to do this again with her one day.”

Phoebe needs a little more time to recover before she can speak to the press by ring-side:

“Back to the drawing board, I guess. Nell’s a wonderful gal, and I wish we did this sooner. I’m gonna head home and lick my wounds. But I’m gonna be back one day, and better.”
