Before: Pundits scratching their heads at why TE would give the brash newcomer a shot at the big leagues in her first fight. Smaller, younger, and never--three strikes and she should be out early. Dani saying it’s another Rimes intro fight, helping another fighter get established. Aguilera talking tough, critics skeptical. Fishel’s entrance less than energetic, despite upbeat Aerosmith intro music. Maybe it’s a non-event for her. Dani in teal pushup and grey stretch shorts. Aguilera in iridescent blue bralette and boy-cut aerobics shorts.

During R1: Dani comes out sluggish, reacting late to Aguilera’s sharp, accurate jab as Christina circles left. Aguilera growing bolder as the round goes on, snaps off gaudy 2 and 3 punch combinations, bouncing her fists off Dani’s face then stepping out as Fishel plows forward. Dani not moving her head, is eating more leather than she has to, and doesn’t offer enough back to discourage Christina from punching.

R2: Aguilera still working behind a serviceable jab, doubling it into Dani’s face, then pivoting to the left to walk Dani into the straight right. Fishel coming forward, blinking and shaking her head. Dani pulling the trigger way late--her timing off, and there’s nothing on the punches as Aguilera dips at the waist to easily slip free of danger. Round ends with the slightly built Aguilera squaring up and banging Dani onto her heels with crisp lets and rights to the chest. Dani shaking her head on the way to her corner at the bell.

(As CB and Syren work on Dani between rounds, they share a concerned look, as if to say “what’s going on?”)

R3: Christina looking the unlikely bully as she walks Dani down and begins banging away with wide left hands and straight rights down the pipe, dispensing with the jab as Dani offers no response. Aguilera standing straight up, clearly enjoying herself, is right there to be countered. But Dani can’t pull the trigger. Fishel’s face lumping up as Christina simply in and clouts away with brawling lefts and rights. Incredibly, Dani is pushed back to the ropes and Christina wrestles the stronger Fishel’s arms out of the way to dig at the body with smacking lefts and rights. By the end of the round, Dani is lolling against Christina as the little blonde sets her feet and gets all 100 pounds behind clouting right hands to the face. At the bell, Dani appears to be hurt, staggering badly as her corner helps her to her stool.

(“Dani, what’s wrong with you?” Syren asks as she helps her to the stool. “I don’t know. It’s just this headache.” Syren looks at her with concern. “Unless you can convince me otherwise, I’m stopping this now. You have nothing to gain by finishing this fight.” Dani stared at her with slightly unfocused eyes. “I’m OK Syren, I’m just a little of synch. I’ll put it together this round. I promise.” Syren looked at CB who shrugged, saying “Well, she’s always been a slow starter.” Syren took a deep breath, “Alright, but I’m watching and if I see any signs that she’s in trouble I’m calling it.”)

R4: Announcers express open concern for Fishel as she comes out dangerously weak, hands low, face blank and puffy. Aguilera leaping in with right hands, batters Dani to the ropes, and once again, sets her feet wide for the slashing beat down. Christina pushing her foe with the left at Dani’s neck, holding her for brawling right hands as the fight becomes a massacre. Fishel’s legs jiggling, eyes swimming, can’t seem to shove the smaller girl back, while Christina has no trouble woman handling the stoutly built Dani. All Aguilera from bell to bell as she bends her lithe little body into crashing rights and lefts--Dani swooning, taking punches off her battered face, starting to bust up around the eyes, seems a shot fighter at the break.

R5: Dani corner threatening to stop the bout if she doesn’t start fighting, but Fishel will have none of it. Still, Dani comes blundering out, and seems hurt by Christina’s first punch as Aguilera leaps intoa  lead left uppercut. Dani on her heels, pushing her hands out in pathetic slaps as Aguilera measures Dani with the left, then clocks her with wide rights on the jaw. Once again, Fishel humiliated by Christina’s bullying tactics, gets shoved to the ropes and propped up for a merciless beating. Christina working up a sweat, shoving and pushing the bigger girl into position, then laying in with her whole behind cracking rights as Dani’s lip splits under the impact. Vicious head butt midway through the round busts open Dani’s left eyebrow, and Aguilera coolly pours right hands onto the trickle to widen the gash. Down the stretch, with some ringsiders screaming for a stoppage. Dani is helpless as Aguilera cracks a cruel elbow across her mouth, then goes to the body with chopping lefts and rights as Fishel slumps forward, body jerking spasmodically in dim resignation.  At the bell, Aguilera bodies up to bellow inyo Fishel’s dazed  face prompting referee intervention. In her corner, CB & Syren have seen enough. Fight is waved off as Fishel staggers aimlessly looking for her corner. TKO5 Aguilera in a shocking upset.

After: Aguilera goes wild with joy at the stoppage. Instant notoriety just what she was looking for. She announces plans to work footage of the massacre into her next music video. Pundits dumbfounded by the result. Dani’s corner concerned about her condition: slurred speech, unfocused eyes, poor combination, and dilated pupils.

(Syren does a quick evaluation of Dani’s condition and reflexes, She says urgently. “CB. Something’s wrong--I think she’s been drugged. Look at her eyes! And she barely has any muscle reflexes.” CB stares at her, “Are you serious?” Syren gave him a withering look, “Do you think I’d say something like that if I didn’t think so? I want an FCBA official over here now! I want a witness to her condition and I want a formal investigation, I think someone has tampered with the fight.” CB motioned to the referee and the ringside, who both came quickly over to Dani’s corner. They looked at her--head sagging unsteadily on her neck, eyes unfocused and dilated, marginally aware of her surroundings, almost collapsed on her stool, “I want the EMT’s right now,” CB order. As CB kept Dani from falling over, Syren cut off her gloves. Then she started grabbing everything from their corner, practically screaming. “I want her tested. And I want everything else tested , too. The water in the bottle, the towels, her gloves--everything. I want to know what the hell is going on here. And keep her awake!

To Dani she said in a soothing voice, “Don’t worry. We’ll find out what’s wrong. I promise.” Dani’s face registered minimal recognition of her words. CB yelled. “Let’s get her out of here, NO!” as the EMT’s arrived…

“…Shania Twain has long been Dani’s closet friend in the FCBA until she had betrayed her for money. Accepting a cash payout from the promoter of new fighter Christina Aguilera, Twain had secretly drugged Fishel hours before Aguilera’s FCBA debut against the heavily favored Dani. Her motor skills impaired by an overdose of a strong muscle relaxant, Dani had been torn apart by he slighter, less experienced blonde, Syren finally realizing something was wrong and stopping the fight after 5 rounds. When tests on Dani revealed the presence of the muscle relaxant, the fight was negated and an investigation launched. Though all indicators pointed to Shania as the culprit, there was not enough evidence to prosecute. Despite the lack of formal legal proceedings, TE was convinced beyond doubt hat Shania had betrayed her best friend and Shania became Dani’s Public Enemy #1.”
