VIX: LOCK & LOAD @ THE TYNDALL ARMORY

1. Eden Cohen vs Luisa Rubino (FCBA Debut)

Eden:

BEFORE:
At first glance, the assembled press can’t really tell these two girls apart, partly due to the rapid influx of newcomers into the FCBA, partly because these two brunettes are of the same height, built and sultry good looks.

But of course, Eden Cohen is the Vixen who’s proudly unfurling her new stable’s banner as she climbs onto the stage in nothing but a beige overcoat and wide smile, shaking her brown hair loose before taking her place at the press table.

“Let me first say that Alexis got lucky,” Eden says, with an early eye roll for her fellow stablemate. “If that referee hadn’t pulled her off early, I would have kicked her ass in the remaining rounds. As for Luisa tonight, I hear she’s got a starring role in a Netflix show. But fame is not going to save her. I’ll beat her ass too, and then I’m coming back for Ren.”

Luisa Rubino of course is the latest starlet of the Netflix TV, Narcos: Mexico, having entered the press hall earlier on in a black leather jacket and long denim jeans, looking confident for her in-ring debut.

“For those saying we look alike, we couldn’t be more different. I’m a well-respected actress back in my home country, whilst Eden is nothing but a glamour Instagram model. I may be the underdog in this fight, but I’m still going to give it my best.”

Both ladies square off at the podium, making the comparisons between them continue unabated, especially when they press their foreheads firmly together in a mutual glare, their lips almost grazing in a tense staredown.

Fight night comes around about an hour later, and Eden enters the arena first to blaring pop music, pumping both hands in the air and strutting down the aisle in a black bikini and long white shawl over both shoulders. Later, in the ring, she’s strapped on red gloves. Rubino comes through the curtains moments later, wearing an orange bikini and frayed denim shorts. She’s waving a pair of black gloves at the cheers from the crowd.

Referee waves for the bell for the first match of the night. HERE WE GO with ten rounds of Lightweight action!

ROUND 1:
It’s a tentative dance in the first minute, with Luisa still finding her sea legs and Eden playing it cool, not wanting to lose her second fight in a row as the newly minted member of the Vixens. They trade jabs towards the head, stiff blows to the arms as both girls test each other’s defences out. Eden is the one throwing more punches at Rubino in general, making short work of the newcomer’s lack of experience. That signature smirk and grin is slowly spreading itself across the Israeli model’s face, especially when she lands a couple more quick jabs to the lips and nose, shocking the actress with speed and precision. Last minute and Luisa tries to push back, making desperate lunges at Eden all of a sudden but scoring less often, more likely to bash a hook into Eden’s arms to send the Vixen scrambling back in panic, but not pain, until the bell rings wide in Cohen’s corner.

ROUND 2:
Eden continues to grow in aggression, wading in harder and faster to rock a one-two combo to Luisa’s arms. Luisa is holding her ground, however, grunting when another fast combo is shoved into her guard. But it’s clear the Mexican starlet has been working and training equally hard in the gym, shoving a straight hand of her own into Eden’s face to throw her early assault into disarray. The two ladies continue trading jabs and rapid punches to the forehead, taking turns scoring leather to the nose or or side of the chin. Eden suddenly has a firebrand in her lap, trying to push Luisa’s counterattack back with as many counter-punches she can muster. But Luisa’s fighting spirit has also come alive as well, dodging another wide hook from the Vixen before turning her head to the side with a hook whipped across her stunned face. Bell rings soon after, and Luisa’s fiery comeback earns her a close round, we think!

ROUND 3:
Eden’s looking less sure of her abilities now, locking both arms and circling inwards a little slower. Luisa, however, seizes the chance, running the Vixen down at the most inopportune moments before bashing her head about with sudden hooks crashing into the arms or the side ear. Eden finds herself in early trouble, dealing with the aggression from the newcomer by retreating further and further towards the ropes. Luisa’s huffing and throwing hands into her lean body, folding Eden over as her washboard abs take a rough pounding, before the Vixen manages to stop the abuse with a surge forward and somewhat messy clinch. Rubino isn’t as used to this rough-house treatment, and the two ladies go spiralling into the ropes, continuing to growl into each other’s shoulders as they look for leverage. Eden catches her breath, breaks apart before better controlling Luisa back with more jabs tossed to her head, which stalls Rubino’s advance this time. But the bell rings and the newcomer wins herself a wide one with her wanton aggression!

ROUND 4:
The fourth round is a little more subdued, with Rubino catching her breath and Eden also prodding her defences from a safer distance. So far, Luisa has definitely impressed, scoring combos off the arms but particularly targeting the Israeli model’s vulnerable body, sending shockwaves through her torso as Eden continues to retreat from the flurry to her stomach each time she tries to close the gap. But past the middle minute, Eden’s patience pays off, tossing Rubino’s head back with a targeted combo to her face. Slowly, the damage begins to add up, with Rubino looking dazed after a third such jab bunches up her cheek, and Eden RUNS her down and scores another hook across her face for wicked payback. Suddenly, Rubino’s in tatters, getting thrown off to the side and towards the ropes in turn! Eden works in overdrive to salvage this round, hopefully surge ahead, continuing to batter gloves on the newbie’s frame upon the ropes, lavish fists buried into her body to send Luisa groaning into her arms before the bell rings to save the Mexican actress. A wide round that swings back to Cohen, who raises a cocky arm high to the crowd.

ROUND 5:
Luisa looks a little dazed as we kickstart the fifth. Both girls trade jabs in the opening seconds, but Eden is the one bruising the cheekbone with more purpose and greater ferocity, ignoring another stiff shot to her chin before bashing a hook off the side of Luisa’s head. Rubino’s left starry-eyed and sent stumbling to the side, desperately trying to cover up and avoid getting cornered against the ropes. But Cohen’s already greedily wading in, snarling loudly as she hammers an uppercut into her chest before slamming lefts and rights all over the Mexican’s frame, at one point throwing Rubino’s head over the top rope before folding her body in half with another glove shoved into her tummy. Luisa groans into Eden’s arms, before an uppercut to the chin LIFTS her head high up into the clouds! Rubino’s thrown into the ropes, before spinning downwards and sideways to the canvas! Referee starts the ten-count for the poor rookie, but Luisa’s glued to the canvas, barely making any move to recover! It’s OVER when he hits the count of 10!

Official Decision: Eden Cohen defeats Luisa Rubino via KO5!

AFTER:
Eden looks satisfied with her performance tonight, beating her chest at the official announcement and throwing up both hands to acknowledge the cheers from the crowd.

We’re sure great things have been planned for her in the future, and the rub is: she knows it as well. Standing in her way, however, are some elite Lightweights in the FCBA, and not to mention, some of her fellow stablemates who want nothing more than to tear her prospects down. Somewhere deep backstage, Alexis Ren is gritting her teeth, already plotting how to cement her status as the number one Lightweight on the roster.

For now, Eden cements her win with some newly minted post-fight humiliation, grabbing Luisa by her dishevelled hair and hauling her up to her knees. Rubino’s snarling, glaring defiantly back at her attempt to use her as a prop, but a quick backhand across the face stuns the actress long enough for Cohen to force her face upwards, chin pressed into her breathing tummy as she forces Rubino to look her in the eye.

Cohen opens tonight’s VIX event with quite a striking photo-op indeed!
