4. Emma Watson vs Camila Cabello

Emma:

(30, 5’6, 48:31 FCBA, VIXENs)

Camila:
(24, 5’2, 9:12 FCBA, Empire Boxing)

BEFORE:
What a year Miss Watson has had, and not in a good way. She comes into this latest fight on a three-fight losing streak, first falling to Avril Lavigne, then rookie Nell Tiger Free and finally Kate McNamara, all in the span of a single month.

“I’m not too worried about my fortunes,” Emma says at the press conference earlier on, clearly shifting in her seat and biting the corner of her lip. “I managed to beat Justice and Cole earlier this year. Any time I beat those girls counts as a win in my book.”

The rest of the world ain’t as convinced, however, with the mass of reporters quickly harassing her if this recent string of losses (and those that occurred earlier in the year) have any bearing on her future plans for another title run.

“I’ve made it no secret I want another shot at the title in the future. It seems the only time I’ve seen gold is facing off against Kristen or Vanessa. I think it’s high-time we had our rematch. But first, Camila.”

Her opponent tonight needs no introduction either, with Camila Cabello known for her sultry pop lyrics and seductive South American vibes. That recent breakup with superstar Shawn Mendes, however, may have taken a toll on the songstress’ nerves, with Camila earlier entering the press hall with dark shades on her face and waving brusquely for the cameras to get the hell out of her face.

“I don’t want no questions about my love life tonight, you hear? I’m here to kick Hermione’s butt, and that’s it. But I’ll kick your asses too if I have to,” Camila says with a huff and curt nod. “But I will say this: Emma shouldn’t mess with me. Not now. Not when a woman is scorned. I wouldn’t want to get into the same ring as me.”

Tough words from Cabello, but she needs to do a lot more than talk tough if she wants to win tonight’s match. She has a four-inch height disadvantage to get over, plus a vast contrast in in-ring experience compared to Emma. Still, the shorter woman stares up defiantly at Watson’s smirk from the podium, flashing long eyelashes and threatening to lash out with her equally sharpened fingernails.

But girls are separated before they can do permanent damage to each other’s faces, before they’re escorted backstage by their respective fight teams. Hours later, Emma Watson is stretching in one corner of the ring, spotlights illuminating her black sports bra and white boxing trunks. She waves yellow gloves in the air, spinning round to acknowledge the crowd. In the other corner, Camila has tied up her dark hair in a messy bundle, still glaring at Emma across the ring as she fixes a pair of red gloves on either hand. She’s wearing a bright red bikini top and black trunks. Referee waves for the bell and HERE WE GO with ten rounds of Flyweight action!

ROUND 1:
Camila storms into Emma’s space early, confident about her ability to extend the Brit’s losing streak to four-in-a-row. She may be four inches shorter but that ain’t stopping the Cuban-American from firing on all cylinders, hounding Watson to her arms with a neverending stream of punches, before head-hunting that glassy chin of hers in the hope of securing one of the biggest upsets of the year. Emma, however determined she might claim herself to be, is not having the best of nights, grunting as she tries to fend off the early assault from the overeager singer, her feet moving fast and both arms locked overhead. She may possess the reach advantage but she ain’t using it yet, spending most of the round blocking and dodging out of the way of Camila’s flurries. The last minute sees Camila finally eating some punishment of her own, a left-right combo squeezed clean into her face to end the round still wide in her favour.

ROUND 2:
This bad slump Emma’s in surely’s causing her to move with even more inertia. Emma still doesn’t take the fight to her opponent, allowing Camila to catch her repeatedly with shots to the body and side liver, at one point stunning her to the spot with a fast combo to stomach, which almost sends her reeling into the ropes. Camila with a third swing up high into the side of Emma’s arms, further dazing the Vixen and sending her running. Cabello just a little spitfire in this early game, walking down the wounded Brit and not letting up with the punishment for one moment. Emma has no choice but to cover and scram, her back skirting the ropes as she focuses solely on not getting knocked the f*ck out in time for tea. As such, she continues to give ground to her opponent, and Camila seizes the initiative as the clear aggressor. Cabello’s also frequently targeting her pale tummy - that vulnerable area just within reach each time she lunges in with a rapid flurry, which causes Emma even more pain at the bell.

ROUND 3:
Emma finally returns to her counter-punching roots, still moving left and right fast but this time, having her opponent’s tiredness to riff off. Camila’s moving a lot slower now, breathing hard but still taking wild swings at Emma’s face whenever she can, though they’re landing less than often. Emma pays her back with some long, snappy jabs to the center of her face, denying the American’s bid to close the distance and once again brawl with her toe-to-toe. Camila’s still doing her best to out-punch and out-roar her opponent, swinging like hell to the Brit’s sides and arms whenever she gets close enough, and her power alone is forcing Watson back into a defensive pattern, but most of those hooks aren’t landing with precision or impact, and the result is it’s only successful in forcing Emma backwards, where the Brit is able to squeeze off more precise jabs landed to her face to eke out a win.

ROUND 4:
Emma’s showing new signs of life here, scoring with an early combo to Camila’s face to disrupt her strategy for the rest of the round. Camila’s panting hard by this point, getting her head knocked backwards as more jabs and straight crosses rip inwards in a rapid string of left-left-rights, Emma using her speed and reach advantage finally to torture her American counterpart. Watson is still playing it cautious, but effective, mixing her combos high and low to slowly push the young, shorter spitfire back towards the ropes. Before long, Cabello’s in trouble with nowhere else to run, blocking her facial features with both forearms but then her toned midriff taking a pounding from more gloves packed in from Watson’s huffing. Bell sounds and Emma’s won the first big round of the fight, and none too soon!

ROUND 5:
Camila’s on a downhill spiral now, all that earlier aggression for naught if she can’t keep up the pace and keep Emma off of her. Emma circles inwards like a shark, looking for blood and weak spots as she pounds away and presses punches into the shorter girl’s frame with more snappy combos. Camila takes another number to her nostrils and lips, which snaps her head back with a dazed grunt. AND HERE COMES EMMA, rocking a follow-up hook across the American’s face, before another hook stuns the poor singer on her chin, and DOWN CAMILA GOES, spiralling first off to the side, looking for the ropes to save her, to no avail! The American’s left bleating down on her knees, her chin hanging forlorn off the middle rope! It’s a KNOCKDOWN for the Vixen! Referee starts the count, and Camila’s still fighting the defeat, slowly pushing herself back up with one stabilised foot at a time! Emma, meanwhile, is smirking from the neutral corner, fully ready to finish this fight in the two more minutes remaining! There goes the bell to resume, and IT’S ALL WATSON’S SHOW! Cabello barely lets out a strangled grunt before she’s assaulted on all sides by a rapid run-in attack and overhand blow to the top of the forehead, Emma giving NO fucks as she POURS in the abuse with all her remaining might! Camila’s getting WHACKED and WAILED on upon the ropes, her head and body spinning to the side when another hook connects to the chin, and with the rest of her arms either clinging onto the top rope or hanging uselessly by her side! That’s it! The referee makes the decision to LEAP IN AND SAVE HER! It’s OVER via TKO5!

Official Decision: Emma Watson defeats Camila Cabello via TKO5!

AFTER:

“Not happy with my performance this year, but beating Cabello is hopefully going to turn things around,” Emma says with a mixed nod later to reporters by ringside. “I had some trouble with her in the early rounds, which I absolutely shouldn’t have had. I’ve got a lot more work to put in at the gym, but rest assured, I’m still heading to the very top again.”

Cabello, on the other hand, is in no mood to speak to reporters, getting supported back to her own corner of the ring and then quickly gesturing to her fight team to get her the hell outta there. She came close early on to scoring a win over a former Flyweight champion, but the young songstress still has to learn in order to pace herself and make a name in the ring.
