Before: "Jewel's been vulnerable for a long time," an earnest Joss Stone says in prefight. "Lot of punches have come her way - most of them have landed - she's ready to be pushed aside. It's no mistake I want to make my FCBA move against singers: Spears could be next, after I harvest Kilcher. There's not a lot of competition, so it's a niche I can dominate relatively quickly."

Kilcher smiling with her mouth, but cold with her eyes during rebuttal. "Stone's obviously got strong handlers," Jewel says, "she's regurgitating whatever they've been feeding her - word for word. Yes, in theory, knocking me off WOULD be a good career move for Joss. Sadly - that's not what's going to happen. This isn't the 'brazen young upstart annihilates aging superstar' storyline: it's the 'battle hardened veteran kicks the crap out of undergunned ingenue, ruining her in the process' schtick. It's an oldie, but a goodie fellahs - even if you know how it ends!" Jewel in white bandeau bikini top; neon baby blue bottoms; white gloves; slick ponytail.

Joss in fighting bikini with solid green bottoms, green/yellow horizontal barred top; yellow gloves; hair in loose brunette curls. Aside: Accompanying Joss to midring for instructions - and glaring daggers at Jewel - is Charlotte Church, herself a well known Jewel-hater.

During R1: Kilcher organized: right hand cupping her temple; left hand at mouth; elbows in - this is her tight 'frame' defence. Joss pitchin' healthy at the open - bouncing mitts off Jewel's shoulders and arms: Kilcher sturdy, absorbing - then chopping back stubby-thrust left jabs from her guard - punching back Stone's face. Joss a willing slugger - facing into blows - negligent with her hands: her only thought is for her own punches; seems surprised when Kilcher's jabs pound home. Jewel patient - letting Stone get off - blocking and rolling the thump - then banging back straight-poke jabs, pivoting smartly left. Consistent face-punching has Stone's nose bleeding down the stretch: Jewel content to turn her foe, pound up the middle, and touch Joss up for points.

R2,3: Similar stuff: Stone very energetic - punching lusty. Back (right) foot will often skid up off the canvas with her enthusiastic right hands: she's giving it her all. Jewel calm behind the frame - getting hit hard on her guard, but proving sturdy: not much is getting through. In receipt - more of that stiff, heavy, patient jabbing from Jewel - really bashing at Jossie's brows and mouth. Kilcher basically gettiing off as she would in the gym: nice rapid, banging left hands bouncing off Stone's face. Jewel's footwork pedestrian, but effective: she's just turning Joss clockwise, picking her apart through 3.

R4: Joss busted up, discouraged: steam seems to have leaked out of her punching as Jewel starts to march on her girl. Jab still softening Stone up, but now Jewel's following on with crisp right hands up top; vicious, swinging hooks underneath. Joss backing away in confusion, punched onto her heels: she's getting belted hard here, forced into jiggly retreat. Give her credit - Stone trying to slug her way back into the fight - but Jewel keeping the frame in place, accepting shellacking, wide shots on her shoulders and gloves, then placing scoring leather in receipt. Joss hurt at several points - stumbling at times - head starting to really move when Jewel lands to chin. Blonde punishing brunette - breaking her down through 4 systematic heats.

R5: Jewel progressing, going through her fightplan checklist. With Joss stunned and staring - Kilcher keys on the midsection - jabbing her way in then hooking Stone to waist. Joss groaning, issuing fight's first clinches: Jewel waltzing on the spot with the girl, patiently awaiting ref intervention. It's Kilcher on Stone at all times - Jewel stepping forward behind the jab - Jewel initiating to her foe's breadbasket. Joss cringing, getting beat up bad in her body: her mouth's wide open on Jewel's shoulder during repeated clinches. Kilcher fighting well within herself: fresh n' sweaty, but hardly overtaxed by her effort through 5.

R6: Jewel on cruise control - very comfortable with Joss now, just touching her up. Stone ragged, disheveled - she's still throwing hard, but blocked by Jewel's disciplined frame guard - leaving herself open to crisp Kilcher counters. Jewel edging in off her jab to spend some quality time on Stone's ribcage: thick, digging hooks land throughout the round. Joss buckling, crying out and clinching in pain: Jewel walking her brunette back in the grasp, leaning on Joss for the breaks.

R7: Jewel's jab continues to punish Joss - breaking down the remains of brunette's organized defences. Stone too erect, not moving her head: Kilcher just bouncing straight, abrupt lefts or rights off her girl's face and cranium. From the half way point on, Kilcher settles on Stone's tempting breasts: Jewel pivoting methodically left, shafting those puppies stiff, stamping jabs. Stone in tatters - turning on the spot, getting ramrodded to jug: Jewel just steppin' and a-pokin' here, treating herself to Stone's nuggets. Bell, Joss a weeping wreck: blubbering beauty gives it up on her stool, refusing to come out for more Jewel in the 8th. TKO7 by submission, Jewel Kilcher.

After: Jewel radiant in victory - strutting the ring once; grinning and waving to her fans as Joss kneads at humbled breasts on her stool. Beating of the year candidate as Joss can't manage a single round against her vastly more experienced foe: welcome-to-the-FCBA beatdown a treasure to remember for Kilcher.
