BEFORE: "To quote The Wiz," Danes smirks, "Watson just might be the most dangerous fighter I've been in with in quite some time. Young, bursting with big-screen hubris...this kid has been a winner in everything she's ever done, and I just hope I can still compete at this level. It'll be a great test for me after a hundred-plus fights: can I still muscle up for a kid like this? We'll see, I mean: that's why we fight the fights, right?" Emma blowing off a reported Ellen Page fight to accept a lucrative HISC offer instead...she knows the fight's an upgrade on all levels. "I know exactly who Claire Danes is, and what I'm getting myself into," says the chipper Brit. "I've patterned my style after Claire - I've practically worn out my Claire vs Kelly Packard DVDs...this is truly a dream come true for me. I'm not just another wing-and-a-prayer punching ingenue: I'll match wits with Claire and give her a good match - you'll see!" Claire in midnight blue bra; midnight blue bikini bottoms shot through with electric blue plaid patterning; small powder-blue gloves; blonde tousle. Watson in yellow sport-top, green bikini bottoms; small black gloves; short brown bob-cut hair.

During R1: Claire licking wide, supple hooks off the hip/pivoting clockwise around the strokes: Watson mirroring the work, hooking for Claire's chest. Claire feinting, gauging the reactions - featuring the left hand on offence while slip-and-pivoting on defence. Down the stretch, Claire separates herself by deploying hesitation right hands off feints: Watson struck across her face, taking it well, but touched for points through 1.

R2: Claire pawing nuisance-jabs to Watson's bra, vexing brunette into taking the offensive. Emma obliging, stepping-to and swinging angry: Claire slippin'-pretty, pivoting while crouching, just letting Emma slug herself off balance. Danes countering off-the-pivot - licking hooks to Watson's ribs; ducking under the receipts; slotting hesitation right hands onto Emma's mouth. Watson plucky - trying to compete, but she's getting nickle-and-dimed, good and touched through 2.

R3: Claire vexing Emma's breasts again - just little yo-yo jabs to spite the Brit, get her winging angry, then Claire can get all bendy at the waist, slipping and a-pivoting around her frustrated foe. Danes so elusive: leaning well outside on her back (right) leg to create gaps; leaning in and down, crowding close while getting under Emma's swings; pivoting primarily clockwise. Claire's right at her chest, left usually lower - supple torso movement and angles keeping her safe. Danes licking the body to tax young legs, but also starting to land on Emma's left eye - jabs and straight right hands doing the damage.

R4: Emma visibly frustrated: cheeks rosey-red, lips parting as she works harder and harder, but just can't get her way in there. Claire a supple blonde will-o'-the-wisp - there and gone - showing Emma her face, then taking it away to leave Watson swinging at air. Claire's small-glove fists tracking along Emma's ribcage and waist - blonde studious about young brunette torso, wicking away British reserves. Towards the end, Claire gets back to that left eye - bouncing the left jab off it; clocking it a few wide, sidearm right hands at the bell. Claire: small smile, head cocked as she makes dancing eye contact. Emma: groggy.

R5: Emma combative, hunching her shoulders and wading in: she's chugging rising lefts and right now - not swinging wide - picking Claire up in her body. Danes chased back to ropes whereupon she clinches for break: Watson actually ahead at the minute mark. Claire spends second minute re-negotiating, trying to re-establish a turning fight midring...Watson stubbornly trying to chug up the middle with mixed results. All even down the stretch: Claire changes tack again - easing forward to press left shoulder/chickenwing left elbow/right palm against Emma to push her off. Watson's balance disrupted - Claire able to step-with after the push and swat nimble rights and lefts: best chance for Watson points slips through her fingers as Claire steals the round.

R6: Danes a little more offensive minded - leaning in to push on Watson via left shoulder/chickenwing left elbow - turning Watson with the contact, moving her feet. Danes lickin' and a-lashin' at the body - dipping side to side while dragging insolent punches across her foe's torso. Watson gritting her teeth, trying to slug when Claire crowds close: just because Danes is shoulder to shoulder doesn't mean she's not still giving angles. Youngster spun about as Claire pushes Emma behind either elbow, picking her up bolo right uppercuts and swiping left hooks, head and body: Watson visibly deteriorating, looking bleak and glassy-eyed through 6. Vintage Claire as girls are passing en route to respective corners: blonde cutting her eyes down to check on Emma's backside, noting the wobble.

R7: When Watson punches, Claire picks her apart. When Watson covers up, Claire lashes the flanks. When Watson gets inside, Claire controls her via push-and-turn routines, spinning the youngster 'round and touching her up. Danes weaving webs of boxing sorcery around poor Emma - tempting her to punch, then punishing her; working her body; closing her left eye, breaking her spirit. Bell: Watson sniffling a little, trying to be brave, walking on her heels - corner works hard on bucking up their little charge as Claire takes her 7th straight. In the HISC corner, trainer is calm, specific: "Up the hurt, Claire. She's finished."

R8: Claire using left shoulder/elbow to nudge Watson ropeside: Danes gets to work. Supple dip-and-lather beatdown issued - Claire bending to one side while clapping Watson the opposite mitt - then back the other way. Watson sullen against ropes, looking grumpy and worn down: she's showing earmuff, or pushing Claire in her shoulders - not much punching coming from Britain this round. Claire murdering Emma to the body - really strapping that waist: Watson gasping, pitching forward midway through, looking to take a smart knee...Claire reaches under Emma's arms, props her up for ref's break. Watson regroups, but Claire's atop her again: blonde girl slopping on the harm, punching Watson groggy...again Emma looks to be wilting to canvas when Claire reaches under and stabilizes her. Hard to watch; Claire's got Emma all but out, but Danes parceling out the punishment with the precision of a chemist working a titration tube...Watson swaying, eyelashes fluttering at bell as Claire pushes off big-girl. Claire accompanying dazed Watson to her corner...Danes telling the British seconds: "Clean her up - no quitting. I want her out for the 9th."

R9: Emma ropeside, dimly soldiering on: Claire's beating her without mercy now. Scattered boos; shouts from ringside to stop the fight, but Claire managing Emma's collapse beautifully - reaching under the girl's limp arms to prop her up tummy to tummy - Claire taking the time to rub her tousle across Emma's battered face in the clinch. Watson groggily pushing back punches, or trying to cover up - but it doesn't matter: she's too weak to attack or defend with much purpose. Round finishes up with Claire working from the wrap - her left arm in under Emma's right, propping the girl up for plugging right hands deep to gut. Emma half asleep, parted lips gasping "guh...guh..." as she's tummy-pumped. Claire holding Emma up after the bell to make sure Watson can stand before releasing her.

R10: Claire grinning, striding confidently across the ring - gathering Emma up under her arms to walk her into ropes - leaving the left arm in place while pulling the right back to deploy punches. Job of work for Claire - combination of prop-ups and punches, beating the fight from Emma, but insuring she stands in for her full allotment of punishment. Watson groaning - often riding her right arm across Claire's shoulders while accepting Claire's right hand thick in the gut, or swept across the chops: shoving brutality not Claire's normal approach, but she's loving the opportunity to do big-girl's work here. Danes measured - punching Emma to the verge of collapse, then holding her up and tousle-rubbing her face until ref's breaks. Watson battered, ramshackle, legs gone...she'd fall if Claire would allow it; ref would stop it if Claire didn't stop punching to tie up and get the break instead. Bell: Claire cackling as she bodies Emma to ropes...british girl blubbering sleepily, eyes closed...she just wants Claire's tummy off her, but Danes is in no hurry. UD10 - 10 rounds to 0 rout - Claire Danes.

After: Claire a-glow - strutting the ring hands high in the aftermath - HISC suits clapping like greedy fatcats, gladly paying the performance bonus all HISC fighters can earn for 10-0 routs...it's a glorious night for Danes. Mishy in the ring, still busted up from her own fight and inglorious defeat...she's clapping grimly and without enthusiasm as Claire basks in glory.

Kristin Kreuk makes sure Emma doesn't leave the ring, holding battered Brit in the corner until Claire's ready to mount: poor Emma gets the full treatment as Danes climbs corner ropes, her tummy pushing Emma's battered face to the right. Claire blowing kisses - one hand or the other fisting in Emma's damp hair...plenty of boos, but plenty of cheers as Danes milks the moment, handing out the worst beating since Sarah Carter's memorable thrashing of Leighton Meester in their first encounter.
