TKO9 Jennifer Garner

You knew watching the first round that Prepon had been put in very, very tough  for her FCBA debut. Garner boxed rings around the youngster with a sizzling jab, darting footwork to post a breezy shutout—all the speed, skill and fitness advantages seemed to favour the veteran, In the second round, Laura showed why this was a fight, connecting with a single clocking right hand on the chin to send her tormentress sputtering into the ropes. From then on, the battle lines were drawn—Jennifer moving, boxing behind her jab, looking for combinations—Laura flat footed, stalking, trying to measure with her left and extend on heavy rights.

In the end, this was a one-sided fight—Garner’s legs setting a withering pace, fists constantly at Laura’s ribcage, chin or eyes, whittling away on the strapping young lass and breaking her down round after heartbreaking round, Endurance became a factor as Prepon was exhausted and nearly helpless after 7 rounds of high-temp frustration. The KO came after a sustained flurry of Garner lefts and rights pelting a reeling Prepon along the ropes, prompting humanitarian intervention from the ref. Jen Garner came away impressed despite the lopsided scoring. “Hey—she could be the next Jeri Ryan if she learns to use her size better, gets just a bit busier in there. Needs to do her road work though—I beat her with my legs tonight and there’s no excuse for that.”
